One of my favorite coffee spots in Hanoi. Such a cool and relaxed atmosphere. Even on the night of Open Mic Open Hearts (live music event), everyone just hung out and enjoyed themselves in a peaceful way. There's seating outside, but they allow smoking so that wasn't for me. There's a little indoor balcony with some seating, just be sure to take off your shoes when you go up. Plenty of seating indoors where you can enjoy the bookshelves and musical instruments strewn about. As I shared earlier, they have a live music event called Open Mic Open Hearts where anyone can play and perform for the audience. They charge for entrance, but you get a drink and cookie with it. Absolutely wonderful experience meeting local strangers, working casually and just enjoying the coffee shop itself.

Tranquil 📖 and Coffee ☕️ is located in an Alley way....with the same address which they have mentioned....Nice and friendly staff....they can understand English...they have outdoor as well as upstairs(You have to take out your shoes and put it in a rack..just beside the stairs )seating arrangement also available.....Moderately Priced🤩 They have a seating arrangement for around 50-60 people. They have a Big Piano (THEY HAVE A PIANO Event TONIGHT)and a Guitar 🎸 you can play it.... They play very light music,so if anyone wants to work or read a book...you can do it without any disturbance. THEY TAKE ONLY CASH 💵

A safe haven for introverts, plenty of books and drinks to choose from. The AC also works well. They shuffle the menu quite frequently but the quality is rather impressive.

This super cosy cafe is tucked just away from the main area, which makes it comfortable and not too crowded. Place was thoughtfully nostalgic - with posters of vintage artists as well as dusty books all over. Service was really friendly. We ordered the classic iced vietnamese coffee - and waited patiently for it to drip. Wonderful cup of coffee to beat the heat. 👍🏻 ☕️ Overall Score: 9.5/10 ✨ ******************** Can Eat One Mehhh??? Great coffee, peaceful ambience. Why not? Loved it! 🥰

Suitable for working and studying. The space is not really spacious but I do love the balcony or the outdoors site. I ordered 2 cups of black coffee with condensed milk so I don't feel much abt their other drinks. And then we did have a piece of banana cake and ice-cream donut. Nothing special but the price is fairly high.

The name of this cafe says it all! It is a wonderful cozy and tranquil cafe with a very relaxing atmosphere. We stopped here the first time during a rainy day and unfortunately they did not have available seats so we came back on a different day. If that happens to you as well be aware they actually have two places which are also indicated on a sign on the road, we just missed it the first time. We spent half an hour here enjoying a delicious coconut and caramel cappuccino and the warm atmosphere. 100% recommended if you are visiting Hanoi!

Stunning little café in Old Quarter Hanoi, super close to the famous train street. You need to walk down an alleyway to get to the café itself but once there it is an absolute treat. The huge bookshelf takes pride of place along with a beautiful piano. The ambience in this dimly lit café is just sublime and we spent close to two hours relaxing from the hustle and bustle with a lovely coffee and dessert while indulging in one of the many books on offer. The brownie was definitely my favourite, the cookie could have been better with not enough chocolate in the middle. Coffee was also very good and they are open till quite late. The upstairs section features comfy cushions to sit on the floor along with a nice 2 seater couch to sink into. Highly recommended if you're in this part of the city and looking to relax and unwind.

As digital nomads we are always on the hunt for the best cafés to work from. We had a great working day at Tranquil books and coffee. Everyone who works there is so friendly and accomodating. The coffee is tasty and also the ginger tea with kombucha is a must try. There’s free drinking water and the wifi is fast and stable (120 Mbps). The place is clean and very quiet. There are multiple sockets to charge your laptop and phone. Plus the place is open till late so it’s perfect for people working with clients in different time zones. Instagram: @remotevagabond

Nice cute coffee shop tucked away in a small alley with a beautiful interior. I had the Caphe sua hot, and a croissant. The price point for both items seemed relatively higher however the service, quality, presentation and atmosphere more than made up for this. I only spent 15 minutes here but can easily see this as a location for someone wanting to do remote work.

This is one of my all-time favorite cafes. It's an escape from the hustle and bustle of Hanoi, with a spacious setup, both indoor and outdoor seating, although I recommend indoor. If you're on a motorbike, park on Phung Hung Street, next to the train tracks (there are signs in front of Tranquil), and remember to keep your receipt for free parking. It's super peaceful here, perfect for work, reading (they have a ton of books), or just unwinding after a long day. We ordered the Sunny Kombucha and Lemon Cold Brew, slightly sweet but still delicious. Highly recommended!

It is worth seeking out this secluded spot in Old Quarter. Coconut coffee was great and my partner was happy to find somewhere that served oatmilk. Daughter tucked into a couple of books while we listened to a customer play piano! Was welcome respite from the hectic streets during Tet celebrations. We sat upstairs which was cosy.

Lovely place! The coconut latte is nice with the croissant. Went in the morning to enjoy some quiet me-time. The cafe is cosy and welcoming for solo travellers to do some reading/work.

Nothing much to say about this place. It's literally a Tranquil place for Great Coffee and Reading any kind of Book that they display inside of the place. The Coffee was so great! Simply the best!

The shop atmosphere is good but in the kitchen and outside were little noisy so I couldn't tranquil to be honest. And coffee is pretty cold and everything is pricey but not as quality as it was. Croissant was not fresh at all. Very disappointed.its I felt like this pricey is for the place.

Way too overrated! The place is indeed very quiet and with nice atmosphere, but that's it. Coffee just ok, avoid food, definitely not worth such price (we tried a sandwich and shakshuka, both very disappointing). The place is also much smaller than it seems from the pictures.

I found one of the best coffee to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in Hanoi. What's better than a cozy space suitable for working, good drinks, and mood-boosting music? Recommend that you should come in the early afternoon, it will be less crowded 💕

Coolest cafe in Hanoi. No one who comes here is in a hurry. The staff bring your drinks quickly, but are happy for you to sit and finish your book. There is a piano there where some very skilled patrons put on a show of beautiful classical music while we read and drank our hot chocolates. It was wonderful, I would come here again and again. The decorations are super cute, it is off the street so it is quiet and if you forgot your book then they have a wall of books (basically a library) of various interests for you to choose from.

This is my first time experience Matcha Latte with real Matcha powder and Fresh Milk in Vietnam !!!! Reasonable price and friendly service ! Great atmosphere with chill music! just a little bit disappointed with the size of the cafe! It's smaller than I expected !

We came to this café to have a drink and chill a little bit. My friend got a coffee and I got a hot chocolate. Both drinks were very tasty! The store is designed to be very comfortable and the staff is friendly and welcoming. They are serving free water and you can read their books for free. I really enjoyed coming here!

This has been the best cafe that I've visited in my whole life. The atmosphere is amazing, really calm and quite, workers make an effort on keeping the voice level down to avoid disturbing. The decoration is simply perfect, very coy and relaxing. Coffee quality is really good. The service is perfect. Absolutely recommended for people looking for a quit place to enjoy reading or silent working.

Amazing place! Calm and peaceful, and the staff is nice. It’s a great place to work. The drinks are good and the Shakshouka is delicious! You can play the piano and the guitar there and you can pay by card, which is very practical.

We tried the bac xiu and spiced grape tea. Recommend the hot bac xiu instead of the iced. The cafe is super quiet and has a very nice atmosphere where you can either read or be alone with your thoughts. The staff were amazing and although it seemed like it was packed, we managed to get a seat indoors. Outdoor seating isn’t too hot too.

Drinks are on the pricier end but you do pay for the experience. I ordered the pandan coconut drink and the coconut flavour wasn’t overpowering. There’s free water on every level. The noise level is encouraged to be on the quieter side. You can go to a completely silent room if you’d like. This is a great place to study or work. The bookshelves include books in Vietnamese and English. I went on a Sunday and there was a live pianist which was super cool.

Nice little hidden gem, with a couple of different seating arrangements going on. Inside, outside or above the bar(ista’s). Atmosphere is great, music not too loud and friendly staff. Ohyeah and the coffee is great too! Definitely worth a visit.

Hidden in a little alley way, but is a total utopia retreat if you find it. Huge book shelf loaded with books that you can just grab and read for the entire afternoon. Nice music and ambience, extensive drink menu. An overall very quintessential experience.

The banana coffee was amazing. We spent hours here reading the different books. We tried the shakshuka (90k) which was tasty just a shame the eggs were hard. This place has a wonderful warm vibe.

Nice quaint little place (quiet ambience with soft background music) with very good coffee menu ranging from the usual latte, local Vietnamese coffee varieties and coffee concoctions!

Such a quaint little shop, away from the main road. A great place to just relax, sit and talk with friend. Had their banana latte when I was there. I discovered a new taste and was really pleasantly surprised. This place is like a hug from an old friend that has changed - you have a sense of familiarity when you see the place but then you are surprised by everything there is to discover.

If you need a cozy and quiet place, this will be a place to cover your soul with the aroma of coffee and everything here makes you take off all your worries when entering. Specialty coffee made by barista meticulously, with great coffee taste and value for money. Young and agile staff. In particular, save money on books, because here you can find some interesting books to ponder and reading.

Always a nice vibe here with good tunes at a perfect volume. The drinks are great, friendly staff, cozy seating, and lots of books to browse and borrow while you visit. You can also buy bottles of the cold brew which I’ve done once and leaves you with a nice glass bottle for decor when you’re finished.

Lovely, cosy and well styled quiet coffeeshop. Relaxing jazz music at low level in the background. You’ll get perfect tasting coffee, too. Grab a book, take out your laptop and work or just hangout and have meaningful conversations with friends.

This is the best place in Hanoi. Very quite atmosphere, it makes us comfortable. The best thing in here is the internet. We can use the wifi as the fastest in Hanoi 😁 I really enjoyed this cafe and I highly recommend it! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾

Perfect cafe - peaceful, quaint and cosy. Amazing music and ambience to escape from the bustle of Hanoi. One of the best cafes ever visited.

  • 5/5 Cameron W. 11 months ago on Google
The cafe has a quiet atmosphere with plenty of available seating outside, inside or upstairs. The drinks and food were good. This is a great place to sit down with a book or do some work for a time. 2 small criticisms would be that it did get quite warm inside and that the seating upstairs is on the floor so might not be ideal for long hours. All in all a great place to spend a few hours and chill.

Easily one of my favourite cafes in Hanoi, well-hidden in an alley with a relaxing vibes. The songs playlist here are really amazing too. Do note that you can borrow a book to read but will not be able to purchase one from their collection.

A peaceful oasis in the middle of busy Hanoi! We had the mushroom salad and the best virgin pina colada I’ve ever had! Lovely love to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

Great place to grab a coffee and possibly eat a pastry. Seating is rather limited, but comfortable. Quite a large selection of books both in English and Vietnamese from what I could see. Can't comment on pricing as my friends paid for me, but I imagine it's quite reasonable. Worth checking out if you enjoy reading and a quiet environment. Nice selection of Murakami books, so I got to enjoy a few of his short stories as I sipped my drink. Cool place.

A quaint, laid back outpost in a back lane of Hanoi Old Quarters. Relaxing environment that had plugs (including international plugs!) and was work friendly, interesting to see both locals and foreigners working in the cafe. Drink was recommended to me by the staff and while it’s on the sweeter side, it was still an enjoyable beverage. Recommended!

Speciality coffee shop in hanoi with great ambience inside, very nice interior. For pourover, visit the shop just opposite. I got the Kenya V60 pourover and it was on the lighter and sour side, cost 70k VND.

Couldn’t agree more with others who have positively reviewed this coffee shop. Delicious, innovative drinks, friendly staff. Cozy “old school” atmosphere and quiet mood distinguish this lovely place. It’s also an easy place to make friends and meet like-minded people.

Lovely and quaint cafe tucked in the corner of a road. Love their drinks, though slightly pricey. Speedy wifi and plenty of outlets for anyone who wishes to work/study. Banana coffee was interesting with subtle sweetness, and they've mentioned that pureed bananas were used instead of syrups.

A very nice place to grab a drink, collect your thoughts or focus on journaling, studying or surfing the web. There are several unique spaces, including the main room, outdoor patio and upstair loft and enclosed space. Soothing music, the comfy glow of a faux fireplace and soft light make Tranquil Books and Coffee the perfect name for this cafe. Kudos to the staff for professional, prompt service.

Beautiful and cozy cafe with a relaxed atmosphere. The staff speak English and are very friendly. There is a variety of great quality coffee on the menu and comes at at a reasonable price. Good place to relax, read a book or do some work on your laptop. I forgot that I was in the busy city since it's so peace here. There is an outside area too where you can smoke. Animals are wlecome here as well as ling as they are on a leash and calm. I highly recommend this gem of a coffee shop. five stars for sure.

I love this spot! It’s so cozy and has great ambience. Not to mention the coffees were out of this world good. Usually they play oldie French music which is great for reading or writing to. The staff is so friendly also :) this was a highlight in Hanoi for me!
