Before I continue let me be clear that this is NOT a botanical garden. Don't be fooled by the name. I did not want to leave a review but I felt I had to. This is not exactly a botanical garden, it is just a park with people playing and exercising and to be honest might also be a pleasant and relaxing place. We also did not find anyone at the entrance and we were surprised because it looked like other people even had to pay 2k/ person. What really made me leave this review are the caged animals. I can't believe they have peacocks and monkeys leaving in terrible conditions in small cages inside this place. Animals are not for entertainment and is REALLY bad! It made me feel so sad to see these poor animals apparently left to their own destiny. One of the monkeys especially was really frustrated and kept shaking the cage hoping to leave! It is heartbreaking and I hope people in Hanoi will do something to abolish this. Completely UNACCEPTABLE. I discourage you from visiting this place and give them money until cages are removed for good.

FREE THE SAD MONKEYS!!! There are monkeys caged. The cage is small without any elements for them to play with. Also couldn't see any signs of a botanical garden like flowers or pharmaceutical plants.

Hanoi Botanical Garden is conveniently situated at the heart of Hanoi city center. When you arrive, you'll encounter a lady collecting an entrance fee for park admission, only for tourist…. Inside, you'll find various attractions, including caged birds and a picturesque lake. The park is a hub of activity, with many people engaged in a variety of sports and recreational activities. While it offers a pleasant outdoor experience, it may not have any particularly unique or standout features to make it a must-visit destination.

First park of modern Hanoi. Peaceful, green, charming and historical.

It deserves a minus star for sure. We were charged entry (and watched the locals enter freely) only to see a green space that has very little botanical variety to view, birds in poorly maintained cages and rats enjoying the garbage. Very dissapointed.

Paid 2k to get inside, but it is nothing more than any regular park in any other city. The lake was dried up when we were here. There are some caged animals for which no one seems to bat an eye. If you are looking for a park this is one, but it is not a botanical garden as advertised. Vietnamese people seem to enter for free. Most of the training equipment is broken.

Beautiful park, very good vibes. Groups of people dancing salsa, playing badminton, and just relaxing. Ponds were drained when I visited but sure it’s be beautiful if they were full. Two stars lost for the caged animals, monkeys and peacocks, not humane conditions at all. Entry cost 2000VND which was unusual as no one else was paying - but have since been informed that locals have access for free but non locals must pay (not sure how this works lol). Motorbike parking available.

Green hearth of Hanoi. Really nice garden full of trees and also animals. Many people come here to have sport activities or just to walk surrounded by green. There are also a small River and a small lake and it's very nice to sit on bench next the water under some big tree. There is a VERY small fee entrance but it become free if you are going to have exercises! Some nice sculptures are all around the park. Good place to bring kids or have exercises and sport or go with friends or even for couples!

A nice enough park to walk through, and the 2,000 đồng entry seems hardly worth the effort collecting. The caged animals clash with modern sensibilities.

It's just a park with trees... There are nothing to learn on the plant or wildlife. There's no name tag or plant name. Moreover, you have at ~5 monkeys stuck in a very small cage, without access to a real plant or even smth representing is natural habitat.... None Botanical whatsoever.

It's nice enough as a park, but a bit naff as a place for tourists to visit as an attraction. The public toilets are awful here. Therenis a sort of fitness area which is awesome. We had to buy tickets for 2000 dong each, which is super cheap, but I don't think the locals have to pay to go in.

Green area in this city. Actually it's not really fell like a “botanical garden”. There are only a few types of animals and plants. The lake inside is not clean. It is not taken care much. Many people come here to have sport activities or just to walk surrounded by green. It's very nice to sit on bench next the water under some big tree or have a picnic bucket :)

The Botqnical Garden it's an oasis of peace and quiet in the middle of busy Hanoi. The plants are lush and green and you can take a stroll on the winding paths and enjoy the sighting of squirrels and the numerous pigons that are living on the middle of the lake. There is also a small playground available where you can leave your kid running around, especially if they need to spend some energy. But the playing devices are old and not very well taken care of. The kids will be more attracted to the open air gym devices near the playground (also kind of old and not well taken care of). There are toilets available around and in one corner I have seen a terrace where you can enjoy a coffee. All in all it was a pleasant way to spend the afternoon and I enjoyed the park.

Very small to say it's called Botanical Gardens. You can walk around it in 20 minutes. Also sadly caged monkeys and a couple of caged peacocks.

They can do a better job with keeping this garden in better conditions. It’s very saddening to see the caged monkeys and the pigeons. Also, all the water bodies were empty. Not to much to see. Only the temple is very beautiful.

Not recommended for tourists. The Hanoi Botanic Gardens are poorly maintained, unsafe, and inhumane. . While locals enjoy it as a community park, the place has dried-up ponds, playgrounds and fitness areas with broken equipment, and animals in cages that are rusting and old. . The artwork scluptures here are crumbling and falling apart. Also completely lacks the curated biodiversity of a respectable botanic gardens. . Skip this, there are much better parks and community spaces elsewhere in Hanoi city. . That said, it's an alright place for a jog or walk.

Nice place for walking. The garden is in the center of Hanoi, It is quite close to Ho Chi Minh mausoleum, Quan Thanh temple and Tran Quoc pagoda.

The only real park in the center of Hanoi. Too bad that the government took half of the original colonial French botanical gardens, and the more beautiful part of them, and closed them to the general public. But the remaining part, with the nice trees, ponds and a hill with an old temple, is a really nice place to come and relax in, when the air pollution of the city allows to go outside and enjoy the outdoors.

It’s a nice park to spend an afternoon, but it didn’t really fell like a “botanical garden”. There were a few birds and monkeys and lots of people walking around the lake and playing sports. It was a good place to spend a sunny afternoon. I took my motorbike and cost was 7k.

This was a beautiful little park with a path to walk around. It was very quiet and serene. It was only 3,000 dong to enter. It had a couple of lakes, a peacock cage, some sculptures and other bits. From google maps, it appears you can walk through to the government building and separate part of the park but this did not appear to be the case.

We went there for the first and , definitely, last time. I was dressed up as a bride and intended for some photo shoot. The staff was very unfriendly, and we could not pay entrance fee cashless so had to go back to pick up cash. The service and the environment were so poor. Pedestrians destroyed , some benches were about to break. No light in the evening. And caged animals…what for?

A great place for those who love nature. The garden also doubles as a park and a zoo. There were people exercising and playing. Perfect place fpr nature scenery and relaxing. I just hope the animals in the zoo are well cared for. We also tried looking up details on the different plant species via QR code but could not get any results.

Super stunning, so beautiful, hope that monkey can have a better cage with green tree, green grass, there's so many trees but the cage is so tiny and sad

One have to enter with a ticket in here. The garden is big and it's easy to find your spot whatever you want to stay with other people or by yourself.Parking place for the motorbike on the territory of the Botanical Garden.I think they sail the water in the same place where the tickets are sailed. The public bathrooms on the territory.

A nice, peaceful park in the busy city. The café on the north-east corner is good for a drink by the lake.

This is a "park" rather than a botanical garden. There are only trees, and not much variety. The lakes are empty. It is very poorly maintained. There is an entry fee of 2k per person but not sure what it goes towards because all the paths are broken and the place is very untidy.

Great park for a walk, running or jogging. Can be crowded with people playing badminton or dancing, so it’s not super quiet. But you can find some nice spots to relax. Great spot for birding too.

The park itself is nice, but the conditions of the caged animals are awful. The monkeys are confined to a small rusty cage with no trees or anything natural to climb on. Some of them also look unhealthy. Please give them to a zoo or provide a better enclosure.

It was a bit cold that day, but in general botanical garden is one of the few nice green spaces inside hanoi

A very nice public park with extensive paths - broad and paved - which are ideal for a leisurely afternoon stroll or a run. There is a small area filled with a lot of outdoor gym equipment, and badminton courts which have been marked onto some of the paved areas. The park is really popular with locals especially on weekends, which isn’t surprising considering the fresher air that circulates here among the pervasive potted plants, shrubbery, and magnificent trees which crowd around the two ponds and edges of the garden. It really is quite beautiful and atmospheric watching badminton pairs matching up. The only disconcerting thing is the pea hen and peacock incarcerated into a tiered and circular cage. Really tragic, but maybe they’re there for their own protection.

Really nice parc with some majestic trees more than 130 years old. There are a lot of shades so it is perfect for a 30min walk after or before lunch. You could stay longer and bring your kids because there is a playground for them to enjoy in a safe environment when you walk around. You can park your scooter inside the park too. The only drawback was the monkey cage... We can totally see it is too small and not well maintained and it is affecting their mindset... It's heartbreaking to see such intelligent animals treated this way and it doesn't bring any value to the park... They should stop it and exchange this cage with birds, more trees or benches

Quite a big park with many trees. You will feel relax when coming here. But it is not taked care much. There are only few types of animal. The lake inside is not clean. There are many people come here to do exercise, take fresh breath and joking. Hope that the Authority will preserve the park and attend more to it

Wonderful place in Badinh, Hanoi where you can spend time with trees and fresh air and some animals. I love this place, been here many time. Tickets very cheap (2000vnd) and 5000vnd for parking. Good for walking, reading, running and photograph. Have a cafe shop if you need. Perfect place. 😍😍😍
