Fabulous place overlooking West lake. The Aussie owner is a tall man but a gentle giant. Really customer focussed and evident in his staff. Food is great. The Sunday roast spot on. They didn’t have any horse radish so discounted out food. Told them no need - they insisted. But the staff are all so customer centric. For me the best place in Hanoi to date. Plenty of exPats too.

We had a booking to watch the SEC Championship game, they confirmed they would replay it at 8. We all got there at 8 in the rain, and the bar was closed! I contacted them and they told me to come at 9. When we got all the way back there, they told me THEY DIDNT HAVE THE GAME!!!! This is beyond ridiculous. Absolute zero service.

I think the place is overpriced for the quality of food. The potatoes were really stale and stiff, which is a turn off for me, and beef patty was falling apart. I guess maybe we didn't order their staple menu, and those might taste better. Our food came 40 minutes -1 hour after we ordered. Their interior and food plating looks nice though, good for pictures and casual hanging out. I don't think I will return again.

High price but good environment. This restaurant, according to my friend, is a combination of restaurant and bar. People can eat while watching sports and political news through 3 40-inch televisions. The restaurant has two floors and a balcony overlooking the West Lake. Depending on the choice, diners can choose a beautiful location for themselves.

Went for Christmas lunch and I'd have to say it was okay but no better. The atmosphere was good because of the day it was. The service was definitely excellent. It was pricey, way too pricey for the quality of food. The food itself, the main thing, was average. I know they were busy but every single course could have been better. I'm not saying it was bad but it was slightly disappointing. The nibbles at the beginning should have been hot and lacked flair. The starter was heavy on salad leaves and the steak slices inside were not the highest quality. The Xmas lunch main course had mashed potatoes instead of roast. There were no sprouts or Yorkshire puddings. Everything on the plate was fine, not special. Xmas lunch has always been special in my life. The whole plate was also drenched in gravy and you couldn't escape it. The dessert was the best dish, very nice pavlova. The whole thing could have been a lot better but I'm certainly not saying it was horrible.

Very nice. It was quite busy and the service was a little slow but the food was great. We had the seafood stew, which is definitely more like a soup but very salty and nice. We also had the steak and kidney pie which is a very good sized meal. The mash potatoes are awesome. Liquor, soft drinks and beer are overpriced but it's a fine spot for a nice dinner. The balcony on the second floor is gorgeous.

The egg benedict was terrible, but the burgers were okay. Overall the food wasn’t that good despite its considerably high price. The three stars go to the view of the lake from the restaurant

You can’t beat the location. On a nice day the deck upstairs is perfect. The price/quality is good. I’ve had a lot of their food over the past couple years. You won’t be disappointed. If you’re a soccer fan, they’re always playing a game of the TV’s at the downstairs bar.

The go-to sports bar in Hanoi and they make a phenomenal espresso martini! The food was amazing. We had the burgers and they were the bet I've had in years. Great place to hang out and chill. The staff speaks great english and there's always sports on

Good place to watch EPL football with multiple screens. Good food and beer too. Free popcorn 🍿 with your beer. Fast and efficient service. The place to come for EPL.

We had a voucher for free burger and a beer and went there with very low expectations, but I was positively surprised at the first sight, first by the place, then by the burgers! I had the vegetarian one and it was delicious! What we noticed though is that it would have been expensive without voucher: we would have paid more than 800k for two burgers with side french fries and salad in the same plate, 2 small beers and a tonic, as in the pic. Stuff is very kind, helpful and friendly.

Absolutely gorgeous Sunday roast dinner, lamb was absolutely perfect and loads of it, also loads of gravy, the plate was swimming in it ..which we absolutely loved. The portion was very generous for such a reasonable price. Probably one of the best restaurant roast dinners me and my partner have both ever had. Lovely view from the place too and staff were polite.

We have come here quite often for weekend brunches in the past 2 years. Great vibe, family-friendly, good food and sizeable portions, hearty English breakfast, nice Sunday roast, sausage and our fav has been the Moroccan lamb dish . Our last visit, however, we felt the meat was a bit lacking and was not as good when compared to our previous visits. Perhaps an off day. Hope to return to the same quality on another occasion.

Great pub, staff were great. I had the best whiskey sour I've ever had and I've had a few. Long the bar tender made it and he was really helpful on explaining local culture and giving recommendations. We will be back.

Walking in to The Republic looked and even smelt like a British pub! Great atmosphere, live sports and good draught beer. There’s a pretty balcony upstairs too with fairy lights, and a lake view.

I accidentally grabbed the wrong beer, so when I mentioned it to the staff, I was still willing to pay for it. However, the staff kindly offered to let me keep the beer and didn't charge me for the mistaken glass. The staff was truly amazing

Very nice. Like the place because the bar place is separated from the restaurant so it's not loud and it's a great place for families. Location is very good. The place has a very nice view from the restaurant. Not to pricy and the food is excellent 👌

Review regarding the French toast for 90k, just some soggy cheap sandwich bread and half of a banana, tbh for that price you’d expect it to be better served! The bread really wasn’t that great. Staff is awesome though.

I only have cocktail 🍸 the staff were nice, cocktail not exactly what I like. But they got my comments and improved on second rounds. Sat outside on streetside, was noisy and dusy.

I find it an enjoyable drinking bar on most occasions. However, it's not hard to tell when no bosses are out! About 4 or 5 males servers start loitering and congregating around the bottom bar and it gets fairly boisterous. It's their youthful banter and volume, that's annoying after around 30 minutes they run out of steam and go back to work!

Love this place having visited many times over the years, but was so disappointed when we came for dinner a few days ago. We ordered 4 dishes, including 2 starters. One dish (a main) came out fairly quickly, but the rest just came out after a long wait. The final dish was nearly 50 minutes after we'd ordered. The starters arrived (also separately) in between. It was all one-by-one with a big gap. Burgers were being taken to other customers past us to people who had arrived a while after we did. Very confusing and frustrating. My toddler was starving by the time her food arrived. We were ready to pay and go before the final dish even arrived. Quite disappointed! Amazing tasting food so that helped a bit, but for the price we definitely wanted a better experience!

The Republic has been improving at a quick pace over the last few months. Food has been getting better, and nightly promos (like Taco Tuesday) have been an awesome addition. Good place to watch sports, and you can often find a crowd enjoying themselves. Randomly added a piano.

Great selection of food and drinks. Problem is some staff try to get too close to your personal life. Happy hour from Monday to Friday and all sports live any time of the day. Use to be a regular no more.

Delicious foods - a nice place for brunch or a dinner get together. The Republic burger and Bacon Blue are always the dish to go for me and my hubby. Price is higher compared to others at the same location.

Second time I've been to the restaurant, and I'm sure I'll go back again sometime in the future. The prices are reasonable for western food, and the service is excellent. The staff are friendly and attentive. However I can't give 5 stars because the food was rather average. As a group we shared a few dishes and some were considerably better than others. I also recommend skipping the dessert which is rather lack luster.

I have had a few feeds here which have generally been good but a recent burger needs a lot of work. A largely tasteless patty. Just very ordinary. Beers are good and plenty of footy to watch this time of year. Some indoor smoking which is annoying. Great service and staff.

Excellent!!! Food was delicious!!! Draft beer available was decently priced as well- most things on the menu are a bit pricey overall but it is delicious and has a beautiful lake view as well! The fish and chips were amazing!! Huge portion too!! You get what u paid for with this dish. They also have an all day Breakfast Menu!!!! Which is awesome and something I haven’t seen here so this stands out forsure!! A must try and treat yourself!! Will for-sure be a repeat customer! Wow wow wow a slice of home away from home! The roast was AMAZING! And the mulled wine was so so good! Such a rare and amazing find in Vietnam! Couldn’t recommend enough! The staff were really nice and so attentive

Great venue with good food, burgers and fish and chips are worth going back for, great selection of beers and a good vibe. Roof garden overlooking the lake and I’ll be watching the World Cup marches from there. Highly recommended.

Nice atmosphere, outdoor, good service. Good food, decent portion! I wonder if this is the same brand with The Republic in Manila? They often have some set which is nice and more reasonable price.

Went there for the balcony seating and beautiful view of the lake. Stayed there for the burger. It was actually really good. Especially after reading reviews of the food not being that great. I disagree, loved the burger. And sitting outside on the balcony with the lake in front of you, simply amazing.

I feel sad posting this review as I have always liked the Republic. However in my most recent visits, everything is going downhill fast. Service has been terrible, not once but on multiple times. I'm lost count of the number of times that I've had to remind someone about something I ordered 5, 10, 20, 30 minutes ago. The food just isn't the same quality. Case in point the roast dinner on Sundays. The beef was tough, full of gristle, the gravy was congealed and old. This has happened twice, there will not be a third time for me. Disappointing and I now look elsewhere for decent food and service in Hanoi. Rather interestingly,I received a reply to this review that suggested that the terrible service was because it was a Sunday when I visited. No. I had visited on multiple occasions when I've been the ONLY PERSON THERE, and received the same terrible service. The conjealed gravy was not due to it being a thicker type of gravy. You're talking to a British person that has extensive experience in cooking my own Sunday lunches, stop making excuses for your terrible food. Likewise with the beef, been to many other restaurants that offer Sunday lunch in Hanoi and HCMC and they don't have tough grisly beef that is clearly the cheapest cut you can buy to save money and make better mark up, fleecing your customers. Avoid this place as I already said.

Good food, big portion, great view to the West Lake, busy and crowded but nice staff

This is the "biggest" portion in my life. Pay attention to salmon. It seems that the cook saved a normal piece of fish for home, and prepared a fish trimmings for me. Terrible. I hope the restaurant owner will see it....
