Went there without checking google-maps recessions. Entering the cafe we already noticed a pretty condescending behavior of the female waitress (probably the owner) while giving us the menu. Lets say, the behavior didn’t got better while ordering. We drank and left after 20 min. Checking the recessions afterwards showed us, that we weren’t the only guests that got treated like that. Skip this place and get your beer from a streetvendor and sit directly at the lake!

Worst experience I had when entering a cafe. The decoration is so so but the attitude of the owner is unacceptable. I asked some questions about the source of the coffee beans because we’re enthusiasts, and the lady answered with an annoying voice like “Oh If you’re so worried like that then don’t drink our coffee!”. I don’t get it, she feels insecure or offended when there shouldn’t be anything to be offended about. And then she said she would charge 50k for a seat, probably if you sit for more than 1 hour she will banish you like beggars. The cafe is not crowded and only 2 people sitting outside at that time and It’s Sunday afternoon. With good location like that but not many customers entering, we should have known there’s something wrong with this cafe.

The owner of the Bar kicked us out (me and my friend) for ordering a beer to share. He told us one beer per person or to leave. We wanted to order some lemonade and food after but changed our minds fast after his attitude. Súper rude and unfriendly, talking to us topless. It came out of nowhere, a pity, since the location is really nice.

Really unprofessional and mean stuff. Also really expensive - almost 100k for coffee! Do not recommend!! In the end we did not stay there.

Don't go here if you want to stay over an hour. The ower is not happy if you sit for over an hour, which is weird. Bad service attitude. The drink is overpriced also.

The owner is not polite. He saw I brought a laptop then he said “You can sit here for 1-hour maximum” even though it was empty 😂

I don't understand 3 star score. Coffee was amazing drinks were amazing place was amazing and service as well was amazing definitely not a tourist trap and there are pretty views from balcony. We had: Ice coffe, Vietnam black coffee with milk and we were satisfied we also ordered 2 long islands and one and black Russian and all were as well superb I do recommend this place. Payment only with cash.

Surprised they said they don't serve coffee and the person in charge said they would close in 5 minutes. But my friend went in later and about to order and I went back in again. This time he said he will not serve because of a feeling of strange odour. My friend and I walked out because of his refusal. This is the first time I have been left with the feeling of unusual racism in Vietnam. I have been traveling to Vietnam a lot and this is definitely a first time for me. All others are extremely hospitable and friendly.

Don’t go there! Extremely ridiculous. I paid USD3 (don’t have Vietnamese notes) ordered coconut coffee, sat at the balcony for 15 mins, hadn’t even finished the coffee. The guy use google translate and tell me “don’t sit more than 1 hour”. Extremely rude! The whole cafe has less than 5 customers at that time.

Owners do not allow use laptop at balcony! Only inside. And they limit to 1h the time at balcony. Besides owners’ attitude so rude, no friendly. NOT recommended.

The man owner was very rude. We stepped up to the bar to check if any seat was available at the balcony but it was very crowded and we were a group of three. We were saying sorry and leaving the bar but the man owner waved his hand in the way of kicking us out. We are not all foreigners as he thought and he said something in Vietnamese like he wouldn’t like to sell anything to Korean or Chinese people. The owner’s attitude was very rude and discriminated. It’s unacceptable and was a horrible experience for us.

Super rude staff here, we felt very harassed to order quickly, finish and leave again so others can sit here. Not sure how they make business here but treat your customer like that and you should be out of business in no time. Worst place.

Tourist trap…the coffee was bad, and the server was rude. We wanted to sit at one corner of the balcony, where there weren’t many people and he didn’t allow us to sit there, and instead squeezed us between other people, where we were pretty packed. Also, you are asked to leave after one hour. It’s nice for people watching, but the drinks and service are terrible.

If you don't want to be open on the New Year eve then close. I came in to order coffee and they told me they were done serving coffee. You are a coffee shop. ☕️. So I ordered something else then he told me it was 10 Ð more than the menu because of the holiday. Lady rihtj after me ordered a coffee no problem. Whatever He said don't sit for more than one hour and I went to play a guitar sitting at the checkout register and said I couldn't play. Relax dude, go have a holiday.

The owner is so rude and acted like she doesn’t want to welcome guests. She said that: Due to the bad weather with lots of customers, if not she will not accept for three of us to stay here for long time. She means customers who want to enjoy time with friends, are not accepted here???? The price us quite high, around 80,000VND for 1 coffee cup with nothing special. You can get this quality with half of price around Hanoi and better service. This coffee shop is now worth for your time and money. Terrible!?!!!!!!

If I could give this place zero I would. Man whom I presume was the owner along with a woman are both rude and unfriendly. Three of us went up and ordered 3 beers and a coke, daughter-in-law and grandkids were not allowed up with their ice creams purchased from store below, there was no real reason for this apart from he was just a miserable old man. Finally allowed up, we are finishing our drinks ready to order more plus drinks for grandkids and man showed our son phone with google translate telling him we could sit for only an hour and had to go. We had only been there around 15 minutes at this time and we were ordering drinks with intentions of ordering more, it’s not like we were sitting there not purchasing and our grandkids are very well behaved, not babies or toddlers. Maybe our grandkids were taking up spaces he wanted for beer drinkers and he didn’t want kids only buying cokes. A couple of guys sitting near us said he had not told them they could stay for only an hour, and it was not like there was a queue of people wanting to get a seat at the joint. Whatever the case I do not recommend this place at all.

By far our worst hospitality/café experience in South East Asia (travelled for 6 months throughout). During a sudden rain shower (rainy season) we were around the lake so decided to head up to the bar to have a drink and wait out the rain. The owner was extremely rude about our bicycles and tried to shove them/ throw them out of the way downstairs where they were beside a wall in nobody’s way and not infront of the café either, after which we considered to leave but against good judgment said we would stay, I wasn’t thirsty so only my husband ordered a drink , they refused to serve us unless we both ordered something or rudely told us we should leave and we are not welcome. So we left.

I wish I could give this place -10! The server was rude and dismissive! Charged us 50k dong for a sprite and when we questions he just raised his voice. You have to pay for the toilets and are asked to leave after an hour! I would not recommend!

A great place to watch Hanoi life wander by. The lake seems to be a popular place for both locals and tourists to visit. They have wine.

Great spot to chill, people watch and enjoy some cheap Hanoi beers. Didn't experience any of the negative feedback on the staff like other commenters have said but didn't pay too much attention as long as they were bringing us out more beers! Was there twice.

  • 1/5 Ravi C. 4 months ago on Google
The owner is racist. He made rude remarks about our being Indians as we wanted just one beer between 2 guests . One of us is a teetoteler who does not imbibe, which is why we ordered only one beer. But to make rude remarks about how Indians are miserly and throw us out was racist. Avoid this place.

Nice bar with a nice balcony (but we cannot see the Hoan Kiem Lake). Go thru the dodgy staircase and you will land in a nice cafe/bar, good atmosphere and good cocktails.

Best place to have a drink in Hanoi, balcony is really cool. Owner is chill and does his own thing and let's you enjoy your drink. Nice to have someone serve you who isn't hamming it up for the western tourists. I think others have misunderstood his vibe. Definitely recommend!

Horrible, dont ever come and stop here. After having so many good experiences in Hanoi, this one made bad hanoi hospitality images. Owner was so rude, kicked us out cause we r four ordering 2 drinks, as my mom and my husband cant find the traditional hot tea in the menu. Then they charged us 20k vnd for toilet.

Honestly this place should put a label up that says "only welcome foreign tourists". The owner (or at least the one that served at the bar that day) clearly discriminates against locals and has a nasty attitude overall. I was only there for 30 mins and as soon as I got a laptop out she shoo'ed me away from the balcony seats although the place was empty at that time, then proceeded to lecture me about how this cafe was unfit for working professionals. She instructed me to sit at a specific table inside facing a smoking man while I was pregnant. Honestly with the number of new cafes opening in Hanoi every minute I don't recommend anyone to venture up here just for the view. The drinks weren't even good either if I'm honest.

Place is good, however the owner and people in charge don't seem to be welcoming and a bit rude. The price is not good, better to get the same drinks with better taste in other places with a pleasant and good personality of people in charge. Not recommended for tourist.
