I came alone and chose a mountain snake for a lunch. I got 11 different dishes made of it and every of them was just delicious! I don't know which one I liked most. I really recommendate this to people who want to taste something different and who are adventurous enough to do that. The owner, Mr. Dragon, was just a wonderful and helpful person and he showed me how to each dish is best to eat. Thank you! I will come here again if possible.

I contacted him well before a month of visiting and not only he responded to all my queries and doubts meticulously, but kept in mind my real date of visiting and helped with cabs and other relevant details. After I reached the restaurant, he cordially welcomed me and stayed with me for a considerable portion of the time telling about the family, how they raise the snakes and described each of the dishes in a nuanced manner. They can show you from the inception on how they take out the heart and if you are bold and adventurous enough, you can try the pure snake blood which is later an ingredient towards the snake wine. Being a solo traveler, he recommended a bamboo snake for me, however for a group of 4-5 or say for sole purpose of hotpot, maybe cobra is better. They served one by one snake spring roll, ribs, skin, bones, lever and snake wine served in a vessel bearing a fascinating shape. To be honest, I was a but surreptitious of the taste, but oh boy all the dishes were too delicious and the snake wine with apt percentage of alcohol acted just as the cherry on the cake. Price was a bit on the higher side as you have to the order the whole snake, so if you are a group of 3-4, maybe per person cost would be quite reasonable.

This was those kind of a "once in a Life-Time experience"! We read an article about this restaurant and decided to go during our trip in Vietnam in mid-October and give it a try. The super attentive owner Dragon welcomed us very friendly and explained us about his restaurant, history, how and where he keeps the snakes, and how it has become an iconic and unique place in Hanoi. We had called up Mr. Dragon before visiting his restaurant. He helped us with the address to book the taxi. When arrived, he greeted us and our table was ready. I spent two weeks in Vietnam and this was my favorite experience in the whole country! Dragon, our host, was so kind and accommodating. He described each snake that could be prepared for us and made very sure it was what we wanted (we chose cobra). We started with a shot of blood and bile, and my brother got to shoot the heart. A must visit when in Hanoi. I traveled Vietnam solo and found out about The Hung Snake restaurant a few days before I left for the trip. I Facebook messaged the restaurant and had a reservation set up within a few hours. Dragon, the owner, met me when the restaurant opened at 10am and helped guide me through all the courses of the meal. Even though I was by myself, I wanted to try the cobra which is the top of the line and most expensive snake they offer. Generally it would be much cheaper per person, but I was traveling alone and I got a good size cobra for under $100US (enough food to feed a few people). Every course was delicious, but the grilled snake with lemongrass was my favorite. There were unlimited drinks included in the price, so I had a few beers, water, ginger tea, green tea, and snake wine. Dragon arranged a taxi to the airport for me after the meal. I would definitely recommend The Hung Snake to anyone looking for a unique and delicious experience in Hanoi.

Don’t know where to start from, we were warmly greeted by Dragon, who did everything possible to make us feel like we are at home. I came here solo and almost finished everything myself but would be ideal for three or four people to share it all. Service was top notch too, and they even got me a cheap ride to the airport. Highly recommend to any adventurous eaters out there

I ordered the bamboo snake! I got served 6 different dishes! All of them were amazing! Mr.Dragon was extremely hospitable and welcoming! Gave me a discount because I was solo which was super kind! I ordered the smaller snake because it was just myself, they give you plenty of food and drinks are included! Got to have a shot the snakes heart and then drank it’s blood! Awesome experience! Can’t emphasize enough how nice and caring Mr. Dragon was!

When we entered, we met dragon extremely friendly, guided us through the entire process. We walked through and chose our snake ordered. The entire snake also got some really amazing snake, wine, the large cobra. Was really amazing on the side. The snake line was really potent and packed. Quite a punch amazing atmosphere. We got a private dining room greeted with lots of smile and the history in the place. It’s really a place where you can come and hang out and spend a few hours talking eating and having some great time highly recommended
