We had a private cooking class with Nhi. It was a great experience, she gave us a great tour of the local market and explained all the ingredients. Her passion for cooking is obvious and she shared lots of great tips to help us make authentic Vietnamese food 😁

Found this cooking class online while searching for activities to do in Hanoi. Did not regret at all! It was among the more affordable cooking class but still filled with lots of recipes and excellent explanation from the chef. We were brought to the nearby market for grocery shopping. The chef explained the fresh ingredients at each location. Once we returned, we were guided through the preparation and cooking process step-by-step. Finally, we ended the class with a lunch of our very own cooked dishes! Highly recommend this cooking class to anyone looking for a complete Vietnamese cooking experience.

I had a great experience. I booked the vegetarian cooking class through trip advisor. The cooking instructor asked about dietary restrictions, and was able to accommodate vegan only. Usually with the cooking class they will have meat and vegetarian cook together with a set of 5 recipes each, but the other student decided to also go with the vegan menu so it ended up just being a vegan class. For the vegan menu, we learned to make pho, banana ice cream, veggie balls, fried spring rolls, and papaya salad. Tasty. The instructor speaks fluent English, is friendly, and followed by email after to send the recipes.

Excellent cooking class. Ruby was a great host, teaching us the traditional Vietnamese dishes. The dishes were really tasty and easy to prepare at home. They also provide a certificate of completion as well as a recipe book with the dishes that were cooked on the day. There was also a market tour at the start which let us experience how the locals purchase their produce. Overall, this was an interesting and eye-opening experience.

Most amazing experience ever. Our guide Siri was so lovely and knew everything we wanted to know. We learnt so much whilst having fun and I would recommend this to everyone. It is worth the price and actually the cheapest one we could find in Hanoi but much better than the rest (after comparing with friends)

Extremely impressed with the Apron up Cooking Class with Instructor Nhi. This was one of the best group cooking classes I’ve done. We cooked 5 traditional Vietnamese dishes in 3 hours, which included a grocery trip to the local market. The food can be adjusted according to your dietary needs and preferences. We made pho, bun cha, spring rolls, a salad and egg coffee, it was absolutely delicious and definitely some of the best Vietnamese food I’ve eaten. We also received a cooking book + certificate. Instructor Nhi was very friendly and gave us some helpful cooking tips. However, I found that the schedule was too packed so it might be better to cook only 3-4 dishes. UPDATE: I did another solo cooking class with Instructor Nhi as wanted to spend more time learning the dishes properly. The class was 4 hours in total and we cooked 5 dishes. Overall, I absolutely loved the cooking class and I would highly recommended and a must if you’re visiting Hanoi.

We had a great experience during our cooking class with Nhi! She was super nice and knowledgeable, showing us around the market, explaining everything and making us taste local products before going back to cook. The dishes were tasty and we learned a lot during those 3 hours. You even get a recipe book and a diploma in the end ! Absolutely recommend, we made so much food we were even able to take some home with us ! ☺️

This was literally the highlight of our trip! We booked yesterday for today and were only two people in the afternoon class. Siri was our instructor and we had so much fun. We went to the market where she explained all the ingredients to us, showed us around and bought us some Vietnamese donuts and some pork to have as a snack while being on the market. Afterwards we started cooking! We made Pho, papaya salad, spring rolls, pork balls and egg coffee! We made everything from scratch, used all the fresh ingredients and fresh spices. After cooking we had dinner together and talked a lot about everything! Siri made us feel very welcome and we really enjoyed our afternoon/evening!! Can only recommend doing this if you love Vietnamese food and like to learn something about the ingredients and how to make it. Siri's english is really, really good and after the class you get your own certificate and all the recipes in a small recipe book. Such a lovely day!! Thank you so much!!

Wonderful cooking class and market shopping trip with Apron Up. Our guide and cooking instructor, Siri (“hey, Siri!”) was incredibly cheerful and entertaining. The lunch we made was delicious, and great fun to prepare together. Pho, spring rolls, meatballs, papaya salad and egg coffee is a great introduction to the foundations of Vietnamese cuisine. Siri’s English is phenomenal and she is a font of information about Vietnam’s culture and history. Apron Up provides a certificate, and a mini-cookbook to take home so you can try it again. Apron Up is located in a French-style building in the old French quarter (look for the sign for “Kim’s Tours”).

We just wanted to say thank you to Apron Up for a wonderful Vietnamese cooking experience especially to our host, Ruby, who was excellent. Her insights, knowledge and friendly attitude provided a wonderful cooking experience. We thoroughly recommend Apron Up as it provides a perfect introduction to Vietnamese culture and food and we also met some fantastic people along the way.

Lovely cooking class. Mai took us to the market and taught us to make dishes such as springs rolls and pho. We were all given jobs to do in the kitchen and finishing off with a recipe guide was a pleasant touch! We will definitely be looking to replicate the tasty creations we made today back home. Don't eat much before you go as you end up with mountains of food. Would highly recommend!

Super happy with my experience at Apron Up cooking class with instructor Siri. Siri was detailed and fun! Workshop started with a market visit and we worked together with all participants to complete 5 dishes. My group was also very fun to work with and we all enjoyed our delicious meal after the workshop. I do recommend doing the 6.30 workshop where the market is not too busy. Highly recommend this experience when you are in Hanoi! You get a cute certificate and little cookbook at the end of the workshop!

Jane was an excellent class leader. She was so easy to talk to smiled, and made eye contact, and was sure to answer our questions with enthusiasm. Her English was so good! The only criticism I would give overall is that I wish we would have grilled the bun cha our selves instead of having it done for us. The more hands on the better!

To start with, I honestly don't think it's a 4.6 place to eat. Maybe those points are to the cooking class. To be clear, all dishes we ordered are perfectly fine, a bit greasy but taste was all ok. But it was only ok, not wow nor great. You will be eating with people who did the cooking class and they don't seen to like the food they cooked as they barely touch them. And you will have bunch people from the local walking food tour who come here for a small plate of glass noodle and again no one really eats it. Waitress seems to be more attentive to the cooking class students then the walk ins. If I can get this back home I will be very happy. But get this level of food in Hanoi is just blah. You can get better taste food with cheaper price in Hanoi.

Kim did an amazing job as our chef instructor. We had a lot of fun. The cooking class was well explained and we enjoyed everything about it. The market experience is for sure a bit cuttet because you can basically not buy everything in that short time which is fine for me. The explanation during the cooking and preparation was perfect. The amount of food is a lot, so better come hungry to the class. I would definitely recommend this cooking class for everyone as it was a perfect experience. I also got a vegetarian option for me.

This was by far one of the best vietnamese cooking classes I attended. Under the guidance of lovely Kim, we cooked 5 delicious traditional dishes. Kim made the whole experience very pleasant and easy by being very friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions, explaining the ingredients and steps thoroughly, and assisting us every time we needed help in the process. I took the early morning class together with a lovely family from Singapore, and I loved every minute of the time we spent together cooking and eating the fruits of our labour. If you are in Hanoi and want an unique experience, don't hesitate to contact the ladies from Apron up cooking class or book a class on their website. You can pay cash or by card directly in the restaurant. (The PayPal option is only a formality on their website and you cannot pay that way).

A must-do experience in Hanoi! We really enjoyed it! Kim was a wonderful teacher who led us around the market, guiding us to buy the freshest ingredients and explaining their significance in Vietnamese cuisine. Afterwards, we were taken to the kitchen where we prepared four delicious dishes, with a special focus on the spring rolls, accompanied by egg coffee. Kim provided clear instructions and guidance on preparing the ingredients and cooking each dish. Once the food was ready, we all enjoyed a communal meal. Additionally, we received a certificate and a book containing all the recipes and more.😋 Everything was delicious, and we're definitely going to try making these dishes at home! Thank you so much Kim!

Our class was extremely well-organized, informative, and fun. I was so impressed with our instructor Coco - beyond giving us cooking instruction, she taught us about ingredient origin, how cooking differs across regions, and why certain food is prepared the way it is. She was also extremely flexible in catering to dietary needs (part of the group made a vegetarian menu). I had an amazing experience!

Very cool experience to learn how to make some traditional meals, we were taught by May, and she was so lovely and extremely friendly, teaching us about the food and the culture, incredibly smart! Major plus, the food was tastiest we have ate so far in Vietnam!

Booked the cooking class via Klook. They have it 4 times daily with the session lasting about 3-4hours including a market visit just outside. Our teacher for the day was Ms.Chan and she spoke very good English so there is more 2 way interaction. The class included 5 dishes with options for vegetarian. My favourite dish is still the Bun Cha and good to learn the tips and tricks coz its not found easily outside of Hanoi. No cooking skills needed so just have fun and enjoy the class. After cooking, bon appetit.

Great experience learning to cook 5 Vietnamese dishes. We enjoyed it very much, especially wrapping the nem and making the meatballs for bun cha. We had an excellent teacher (Binh) who spoke English perfectly and was very friendly, she explained each step well and was even able to answer all our questions about the food and Hanoi in general. Buying the ingredients at the local market area just outside the cafe was very interesting and you can learn a lot about local ingredients as well what is being sold as the teacher is very knowledgeable. The class was very well organized, great atmosphere and of course very hands on and also clean. Come hungry because you make a lot of food! Definitely recommend.

We had a good time making the vegetarian version of the meals. Siri was very kind and a lovely teacher. Making the tofu meatballs and spring rolls was probably our favourite part. There was also a lot of cultural exchange and learning which was nice. Siri was quite open and honest with her answers and provided a better insight for us into Vietmenese culture. Overall a great experience. Disclaimer: we were two vegetarians, however, we are both tolerable. However, the meat stall in the market where the other classmates got their food might be difficult for sensitive vegetarians/vegans. The meat and pork broth was also made at the table we cooked at understandably, nevertheless, you should be aware of this. Siri was very accommodating with us but perhaps a vegetarian only class might be a future idea.

I joined a cooking class using Klook and I had a wonderful cooking experience. We got first hand experience buying ingredients from the nearby market, prepping the ingredients, and cooking together with other participants. We had a lot of leftover though and we're full with food and shared stories.

If you are looking for a cooking school that could teach you to make some of the favourite Hanoi local dishes, I would say this is a good one. There are 4 different timing for classes in a day so it hopefully can fit your schedule. We made 5 different dishes: Pho, Bun Cha, Nem, papaya salad and egg coffee. We were really lucky to have Kim teach us for the day. She was really good and informative. The class started off with a short walk around the nearby market where Kim taught us about the ingredients that we bought and used for the day. We also had a hand of making everything from scratch which is important if we want to try and replicate this when we return to our home country. She also gave us tips on how to make the pho broth more flavourful in the short time we had in cooking it. At the end of the day, we were amazed that we manage to cook all the dishes. And it also tasted really good! At the end of the class, we each got a certificate and a recipe book that contained what we cooked and more. Give this cooking school a try.

We had the most wonderful class with Vicky. She was very energetic and informative from showing us around the market area, to getting us to try new foods along the way, and finally to showing us, and leading us in the preparation of some delicious Vietnamese dishes. We were very surprised that these dishes turned out to be the best food we had tried in Vietnam, even better than many of the restaurant we had visited. And yet we still had left overs as to show us the different dishes we ended up cooking a LOT of food. So you don't need to worry about eating anything before or after. In the end this will probably go in my book as one of the most fulfilling experiences of my time in Vietnam.

I had a great experience at the group cooking class today. I have two dietary restrictions and Phoenix (our instructor) was very accommodating. She was awesome and really made sure we (there were 3 of us in one group) got a chance to participate in all Of the dishes we made. I would definitely recommend this class to anyone. I’m a solo traveler. The only thing I didn’t care for was that a lady said something to our teacher and then things were really rushed at the very end as far as the cooking and instruction. We however were not rushed with eating our food after we left the kitchen. Overall a great experience! I booked through Klook paid online and saved a couple USD. Just book it!

I highly recommend the class! We took the private cooking class in a group of 6. The whole event took around 4 hours and consisted of a trip to the local market to get groceries and the preparation of 5 different dishes which we then ate together for dinner. We also received the recipes afterwards. Our instructor was Mai, she was extremely friendly and passionate. During grocery shopping she shared a lot of interesting facts about life in Vietnam, the language and the culture. The class was interactive, Mai gave us lots of tips and quizzed us on our cooking knowledge. We had a great time learning to cook Vietnamese food, thank you for the great experience, Mai!

We’ve booked the vegetarian cooking class, and our master cook - Siri was great; she showed us around the market, explained the history behind some veggies or fruits and instructed us on how to get the best crispy rolls and creamy egg coffee. Recommended! 👍

Our instructor Siri was fantastic. My partner and I ended up being the only ones in the class so it was very private. We first went to the nearby market to get our fresh ingredients. She explained some of the history and facts about the old quarter and market. We then went to the kitchen (on the fourth floor so prepare for stairs) to cook our dishes. We made pho, bun cha, nem ran (fried spring roll), papaya salad and egg coffee. A great cooking class for all levels. We then went downstairs to have our meal. Food was delicious. We also tasted cinnamon and plum rice vodka. We took home leftovers and received a cookbook with recipes of the meals we cooked plus some additional ones. Siri was able to answer any questions we had. She is very sweet and helpful. Her English is also great. I would recommend the cooking class to everyone.

What a great cooking class! The instructor was friendly, and really good at engaging all of us so everyone was involved in the prep work. Tasks were well divided, switching to small teams at appropriate moments too so you got to experience the entire cooking process at important points. Best of all, her English was perfect.

A great experience that you just have to try if you are in Hanoi and love Vietnamese food. Siri was an amazing host that had us hands on involved every step of the way. You’re going to hear “Can you help me…” a whole lot if you take this class. Lots of amazing ingredients, a bunch of which she takes you shopping for in the market nearby. Plenty of tips on how to prepare and cook them as well. At the end you’ll sit down to an amazing feast that you made with your own hands. I highly recommend this class and especially Siri who explained everything so well and was very patient with us.

We had such a wonderful experience at Apron Up! My husband and I booked a private class and it was just perfect. The food was great, and we got to choose our menu. Wendy, our tour and instructor was smart, funny and sweet. We learned a lot of things about the food, but also the culture and the history of Vietnam. 😍😍 I am glad that we have done this class and learn how to cook best food in Hanoi. I believe now I have the best souvenirs for my friends and family. Siri was an amazing chef and thought us so many little things and very patience towards our 1000000 questions.

We took the cooking class and it was amazing! Our instructor first took us to the market where we picked out the food and then we prepared 5 dishes. The instructor spoke fluent English and the atmosphere was amazing. Would recommend it to anyone!

I had a great time doing the cooking class! They easily catered to my vegan and partners vegetarian needs! I recommend this class highly. The instructor Siri was a great teacher and friendly! The best part is eating all the amazing food you cook and taking home a recipe book!

Had a pleasant experience learning to cook 5 local dishes from Siri. She brought us out to the market to shop for ingredients and explained the process in detail - where the ingredients come from, how much it'll cost, plus substitutes if you can't find local ingredients back home. Siri was efficient during our private class and did not hold back on her cooking tips. It felt very homely, like you were learning from a friend. We learnt to make beef pho, sizzling pancake, papaya salad, fried spring roll and lemongrass chicken. They were all delicious! But definitely learn the pho and sizzling pancake. And Siri is also more than happy to adapt to your dietary needs. Worth your time and money for sure!

Thank you Jane for this truly memorable and immersive experience into Vietnamese cuisine. We made spring rolls, Phố, Bún chả and egg coffee. All were delicious and with Jane's instructions and her kindness we enjoyed every bit of it. We will try to prepare the dishes back home again, but this is really an experience that stays in mind, therefore highly recomendable!

👍👍 It's such a great and wonderful Pizza 🍕 😋 I ever have. I can't explain how wonderful it is. Also Spaghetti 🍝 😋 was so good. They cooked 80% for the spaghetti. For half chicken teriyaki and half 4 cheeses, is such a very good smell from the charcoal stove. It's very harmonized tasted in one full...

👍👍 Probably one of our most memorable meals was at this amazing restaurant in Hanoi. The service was excellent and so was the food. We loved the flavours and the cocktails were on point. The minimalist decor was really nice and spacious. We ended up ordering a lot of food and drinks as we were famished...
