The Trấn Quốc Pagoda in Hanoi, Vietnam (swipe for a picture). . . . . (Before I start my educational rant on this significant building, can I just say that this build was BY FAR the hardest thing to create on my island. I never want to see another tree or plant in my life!) . . . . The Trấn Quốc Pagoda was constructed in the 6th century, making it almost 1,500 years old. It is the oldest Buddhist temple in the city, with several lotuses carved into the stone walls. Lotuses symbolize several things: the beauty of nature in Vietnam, the purity of the mind/body/speech, the achievement of enlightenment. The most interesting part about this place is it’s Bodhi Tree, Which was originally a cutting taken from the tree in India where the Buddha sat and taught. They also worship mothers here, which for them is a term for “female Buddhas”, or female gods. I went here last year, and although it was closed at the time of my visit, the clear reflection in the water is what makes it stand out. Definitely visit it at sunset for a magical experience :). . . .Sanat , heykel , müze , park , orman , arkeoloji , kitap, resim, kafe , çay

The entrance is a stunning yellow gate. Behind it is a beautiful ancient pagoda that is well worth admiring. The area is very nice with lots of greenery around. The pagoda itself is a thing of beauty, built of red bricks and stones, standing tall in the middle. The surrounding area is nice as it is literally built across the lake.

Beautiful pagoda representing Bhuddism on the water. The pagoda itself is majestic and is well worth seeing. There are cartoons from old scriptures signifying the cause and effect of your actions, which is relevant in bhuddist culture. Its free but do respect the dress code by covering your shoulders and knees (for both genders no tank tops or short shorts)

A beautiful Pagoda located close to the city center of Hanoi. This place is surrounded by a beautiful lake and a nice landscape. This place is a stopover in the Hanoi Hop on Hops Service. The surroundings are clean and everything looks stunning in terra-cotta colour. There are few hawkers selling beverages on the road if you water or coffee.

At nearly 1,500 years old, Tran Quoc Pagoda is one of the oldest pagodas in Hanoi. Admire Buddhist statues and shrines, a tall stupa, Vietnamese art and historic stelae (honorary inscriptions). Constructed between 544 and 548 during the Ly dynasty, the pagoda was originally called the “Khai Quoc.” The detailed building is exquisite and constructed according to the rules of Buddhist architecture. This includes three houses named “Tiền Đường” and a structure for incense burning. Walk through the connected rooms, which are in the shape of a Công script. View the 1639 inscription noting the pagoda’s history and the gold sculpture of the Sakyamouni Buddha's Parinirvana. Walk through the gardens to the bodhi tree and see its heart-shaped leaves. In 1959, Indian Prime Minister Rajendra Prasad, gave the tree as a gift to the pagoda. It is believed to be a graft from the holy tree under which Gautama Siddhartha achieved enlightenment. Visitors and pilgrims from all over the world come here to honor the site. The tall stupa, which can be seen from afar, was built in 1998 and is aligned with the bodhi tree. At just over 49 feet (15 meters) tall, the stupa has 11 floors. On each floor, six doors are guarded by a statue of Amitabha. Look for the large sculpted lotus flower at the top. The lotus symbolizes Buddha himself and the tree represents ultimate knowledge. While the museum inside is small in size, it is well worth exploring. View engraved statues and fascinating antiques ranging from hundreds to thousands of years old. Visit at sunset when the pink and orange colors reflect on the horizon behind the pagoda and the stupa. This temple is a little ways from the center of Hanoi, between West Lake and Truc Bach Lake.

Tran Quoc Pagoda is the oldest pagoda in Vietnam. Tran Quoc Pagoda is located on the islet of West lake. Tran Quoc Pagoda worships Amitabha Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, and Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva. The majestic red-brown standing tower, known as the 11-storey Stupa or Bao Thap. Once you enter the Front house of Tran Quoc Pagoda, you will see many unique statues of Buddha. The Incense burning house is one of the focal points within Pagoda. The Stele house preserves fourteen steles engraved with poems of famous scholars. There are also sign boards with nice explanation about the law of karma. The Bodhi tree is another such attraction. Dress appropriately while visiting the pagoda. There is no entry fee. Timing is 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM to 5:30 PM.

We really enjoyed visiting this Pagoda. It’s a nice break from the city and it’s very quiet. I would have rated this a 5-star experience, however there is very little to see (though we knew this going in) and there are tourist scammers within the Pagoda. These scammers act like they are from the Red Cross and are collecting survey information about your visit to Vietnam. These scammers will ask you fill out a questionnaire followed by asking for a donation. I offered very little money after filling out their sheet and the guy refused it! He kept bugging me for larger bills and then eventually walked away after I said that the money I offered was all I had. These scammers are usually wearing nice clothes and a larger shoulder bag. Their trick is to show you that they have collect tons of donations from other tourists as well. Avoid them and ask them to please go away.

This is a very popular Pagoda . We were in Hanoi during Tet holiday so when we visited it was very crowded many Vietnamese coming to pray 🙏. So many people but no pushing or shoving to get in everyone was very patient. My only disappointment was seeing rude overseas tourists taking selfies of themselves in front of people trying to pray . There is a time and place and I don't think that it's at a Pagoda during Tet . Its a beautiful serene place otherwise.

A beautiful buddhist temple on the outside (couldn’t get in, visited at the wrong time - thus can’t really do much justice to it), a big lake (some good views), and a lot of noise blend in to form the full picture.

Nice pagoda! We did not spend much time here but we did enjoy it. Many locals come there for prayer, so be respectful while there. The local children were there at the time trying to learn English. The children and their teacher approach you so the kids can hold a conversation with you to practice. It was quite an enjoyable experience. The West Lake is also a nice site. There were men fishing in the lake, and by fishing I mean walking around in the lake fishing. It was quite interesting.

A very nice holy, spiritual, peaceful temple, with multiple shrines. We visited during the day time and it was a peaceful experience even though right outside the temple the traffic was at its peak. We spent about an hour soaking in the great aura this place has, it is clean and maintained well. There is no entry fee here however you can donate money in the drop boxes located inside the temple.

Symbol of age old tradition and worship. Calm and divine temple (pakoda) on west lake, use translator to read inscription and history display around the temple. Reading them gives an idea of how world and kingdom evolve and how this temple is related to the kingdoms, You can Buy some souvenir sold in front of the temple , but they will be priced high ,need to bargain at 1/4 of price to buy at right price, if you plan to go to night market then you can prefer to buy there instead of buying here.

(Translated by Google) Tran Quoc Pagoda is located on a single island of the largest freshwater lake in Hanoi. During the Hai Ba Trung period (40 - 43), the area around West Lake was very sparsely populated, with small and medium caves and forests covered, there were also a number of rare and precious animals in the forest. Through thousands of years of existence of the temple, the landscape here is now completely different. The lake bank is surrounded by large roads, villas and modern buildings are formed ... On the one hand, it shows the complete architectural perfection of the city, but on the other hand, accidentally breaks the historic landscape and spirituality in the living conception of the indigenous population. Above the door of the pagoda is inscribed with three words Phương Phương Môn and the opposite sentence written in Nôm on both sides: Ring the horse's ears across the customary street / Open the river face to stand at the door of meditation Like most other temples in Vietnam, the structure and interior of Tran Quoc Pagoda have an orderly arrangement and follow strict Buddhist principles. Consists of many layers of houses with three main houses: Tien Duong, incense burning house and upper house connected to the shape of the Cong (工) shape. The front line was headed west. The two sides of the incense burning house and the upper house are two rows of corridors. After the upper hall is the bell tower. The temple bell guard is a three-room house, with the roof of the match, located on the main hall axis. On the right is the ancestor's house and on the left is the beer house. In the temple currently holds 14 steles. On the 1815 inscription, there is an essay by Dr. Pham Quy Thich recording the reconstruction of the pagoda after a long period of ruin. This work began in 1813 and ended in 1815. Behind the pagoda, there are some ancient tombs from the Vinh Huu and Canh Hung dynasties (18th century). The temple campus has a lotus pagoda built in 1998. The large stupa consists of 11 floors, 15m high. Each floor of the tower has 6 arched doorways, in each cell is a gem statue of Buddha Amitabha. The top of the tower has a nine-story lotus (called the Nine-story Lotus) is also made of precious stones. This stupa is built in symmetry with the large bodhi tree donated by the President of India when he visited Hanoi in 1959. Venerable Thich Thanh Nha, Member of the Board of Directors of the Vietnamese Buddhist Church, Abbot of Tran Pagoda Quoc, has explained the symmetry as: "The lotus represents the Buddha's true nature, such as being born in the mud without being defiled. Bodhi is wisdom, unsurpassable wisdom. All of them have meaning. the essence and the phenomenon of dhammas ". The continental lotus stupa, Tran Quoc pagoda The pagoda was recognized as a national level cultural and historical relic in 1989. However, due to many restoration and repair times, the architecture of the pagoda cannot avoid being mixed with the architectural styles of the periods: In the years 1624, 1628 and 1639 (the Trinh Lord's time), the pagoda was restored and expanded. During the Tay Son period, in the context of a power dispute at the end of the Hau Le dynasty in Vietnamese history, the pagoda fell into disrepair, at that time local residents asked for a repair. The biggest restoration time was in the year of Hoi, the year Gia Long 14 (on the epitaph of Reconstructing Tran Quoc Tu bi, written by Doctor of Science in 1779 Pham Lap Trai) [1]. In 2010, the renovation was made to celebrate the 1000 year anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi and the 6th World Buddhist Summit held in Vietnam in November 2010. The cost estimate of this restoration is 15 billion VND [2]. In the epitaph "Reconstructing Tran Quoc self-biased" written by the Doctor of Ky Hoi in the 40th year of Canh Hung, praised: "Standing high above to see the pagoda, the clouds in the water bottom, the blue light of the lake makes tourists dazzle. light.

Beautiful ancient pagoda right in the heart of Hanoi. Although there is little information to help you appreciate the history of this pagoda and it’s numerous structures, most will still likely be struck by its immense beauty. Warning that the hours are a bit weird and they close from about 11:30-1:30 in the middle of the day. I’d recommend this as an early morning excursion before setting off to explore other local sights in and around Hanoi.

This is one of the pagodas built on the banks of the lake! A very pristine and enlightening cultural hotspot. You've got beautiful trees and birds around. A very well maintained garden. A clean entrance. But remember there's a sign outside that says. You can't wear shorts and you need to cover your shoulders. So remember this if you decide to visit. There's a highland right outside and they've got a beautiful lake around where you see locals fishing and selling really good soda! I could almost spend the. Entire day there!

(Translated by Google) History of Tran Quoc Pagoda Tran Quoc Pagoda was originally named Khai Quoc Pagoda, built in 541 in the Tien Ly period. At that time, the pagoda was located near the bank of the Red River, so when the dyke fell in 1615 (the reign of King Le Trung Hung), the pagoda was moved to the Yen Phu dyke on the Kim Nguu mound. Then, in the 17th century, Lord Trinh built the Co Ngu dyke (now Thanh Nien street) to connect with Kim Nguu island. The pagoda was renamed Tran Quoc pagoda in the reign of King Le Hy Tong (1681 - 1705) with the meaning that it would be a place to help people ward off natural disasters and bring a peaceful life to the people. And that name is used to this day. In the past, Tran Quoc Pagoda was the Buddhist center of Thang Long citadel. The Ly and Tran kings still used to visit and worship at the temple so many palaces were built to serve the king's rest: Thuy Hoa palace, Ham Nguyen palace.

This was a very small site with the main iconic & unique Pagoda, and a few shrines, sat on a small island. Despite the site being quite small, the architecture is very beautiful, and the whole site being surrounded by water gives it a really nice serene feel. The shrines here are active shrines, so many people come here to pray/worship. When you're done here, might as well give Quan Thanh Temple a look as well. It's only about a 10 minute walk from Tran Quoc Pagoda, so it's worth the visit if you're down here.

A small but peaceful temple set by the lake. Not large and not really much to see to stay around for as a tourist, but worth visiting quickly then walking along the lake.

If you really want to visit, please check the operating hour of the shrine. We came at closing hour, so we just only seeing from the far. Chua tran quoc is the oldest temple in Hanoi with more than 1500 years. This pagoda has a special attraction in which the ashes of important monks are stored. Different from most temples that are built on high places, this temple was built with a water landscape view. The reflection of the ancient pagoda in the lake is also a beautiful sight if you get the right moment.

Beautiful! One of the best places I visited in Hanoi! It’s free and quick to do and definitely worth going to see! The sign at the entrance said you had to cover up but they don’t check so a lot of people just entered with shoulders/knees showing.

A holy shrine very popular with locals . We reached when the temple was closed. The lake and the environment around is wonderful! Lots of vendors selling fruits etc . Can easily be walked from Ho Chi Minh Masoleum.

The first location we visited after checking-in to hotel. A 6th Century and oldest temple in Hanoi, Vietnam. The significance of this temple is its "pagodas" that are used to keep the remains of abbots and monks of this temple. There is also a bodhi tree planted in a garden emulating The Deer Park, the location where Buddha gave his 1st Sermon in Sarnath.

It’s probably first thing we did when we landed in Vietnam for a 10 days trip. It’s believed to be oldest Pagoda too. Very good maintained and peaceful spot for meditation. Best thing we learned was that there was a Sacred Tree ( Peepal ka Ped in India) gifted to Ex President Ho Chi Minh on his birthday in 1959 from India. Being an Indian , it was pretty good to see the sacred tree growth in such a holy place and work-shipped.

This beautiful and peaceful is one of the oldest pagoda in Hanoi. It is centrally located on a small island on West lake. The Trấn Quốc Pagoda in Hanoi is the oldest pagoda in the city, originally constructed in the sixth century. Monks have lived at the Trấn Quốc Pagoda for centuries, teaching the ways of Buddhism to the public Make sure to visit this place and keep it in your itinerary.

The place were good surrounding by the lake. The place is one of the stop when you booked a city bus tour. There’s many people visiting the place so better go there earlier. Outside the area you will see a lot of souvenir items that you can buy at a good price. Overall impression one of the must go places when you visit Hanoi, Vietnam.

This is a lovely part of the city to visit and wander around. It’s in easy walking distance but like many attractions does close early so make sure you plan the visit around it’s opening times of you want to go inside. The photos on this review are from the outside so you still get a great view.

The view over the lake is really beautiful. And it is very quiet and solemn. Come here at noon to see the beautiful sunset near the lake. After that, you could take a walk around the lake to highland coffee to spend your afternoon.

Very beautiful. The lake is stunning setting. A little quieter and able to appreciate without quite so much noise! The tourist hop on hop off bus stops here, was a pleasant way to be introduced to some of the more well known sights. The pagoda is definitely worth seeing, not just for a quick pic.

At that time, the pagoda was located near the banks of the Red River, so when the dyke fell in 1615 (the reign of King Le Trung Hung), the pagoda was moved to the Yen Phu dyke on the Kim Nguu mound. The pagoda was renamed Tran Quoc Pagoda in the reign of King Le Hy Tong (1681 - 1705).

Strolling in the cool early morning or afternoon is a must-do experience. (Original) Nằm giữa hồ Tây chùa Trần Quốc nguyên bản được xây dựng vào thời vua Lý Nam Đế. A lovely and peaceful walk along the tranquil scenery before entering the Buddhist temple and visiting the oldest pagodas in Hanoi! The Tran Quoc Buddhist temple was a favorite place amongst the kings and royal families whenever any celebrations or events were held at the temple. Tran Quoc Pagoda has a thousand year of history, one of the oldest pagodas in Hanoi. This pagoda often attracts many tourists from Vietnam and the world. Each year, on Lunar New Year's Eve, Vietnamese President and other leaders might come here to wish the prosperity and happiness to Vietnam and all of the Vietnamese. Tran Quoc means "protect country", so Tran Quoc Pagoda was attached with the history of establishing and defending Vietnam from the past. The most outstanding feature of the Pagoda must be the 15 meter tall tower which is called Precious Stupa. Besides, Tran Quoc pagoda shows a lot of signature Vietnamese Buddha factors from the ancient time.
