It's a good place to take pictures for free in the coolness. Please visit when you have time.

The first thing to note is this museum is free. Not that I'm reluctant to pay, but I think this is the best way to attract the youth. I'm always glad to see young people going to a museum and being introduced to art and culture. I can understand some reviews about the number of artifacts exposed compared to the dimensions of the museum itself, it might seem a little "'empty". However, I found it very interesting and there is a lot of information with the objects (in Vietnamese and English, and sometimes in French). It is very informative and we can learn more about Vietnamese art, culture and history. I'm not sure if it is a permanent exhibition, but there is an artist who will make calligraphy for you and you can even try to make one yourself under his direction, that was an interesting experience. There is also a very interesting room about medicinal plants. Each of them is well described along with their benefits for health and healing.

I don't get this museum AT ALL. I wouldn't even call it a museum. It's more like an exhibition hall. I didn't understand what the museum was about or who it was for. The only thing I can think of is that it's a place designed to make you feel uncomfortable and confused. I wandered through labyrinths of creepy paintings and sculptures with genitalia, then suddenly found myself in a small room with stuffed animals.... Then I went higher up a spiral passageway with a rather low railing (for a person of height 170 the railing is at buttock level) and found myself in a room with pictures of war and bombs. And opposite there was something about dinosaurs... but the passage was closed. Then a half-empty hall, pictures of leaders... It's a very strange place. I give it a high rating because it's free. And it was a kind of a thrill to feel so uncomfortable and strange.

It was a stimulating experience to see sculptures that I don't usually see. In addition, there was also an exhibition during the war, and it made me think about various things. The building was also shaped to climb around the atrium in the middle, and it was an interesting building.

It's a very strange museum. I was excited to visit because I love museums. There was a huge embroidered art piece by the entrance which was impressive. Then we walked into an area with stuff from the affluent families of Hanoi in the past. Then I find myself in a circular hall with large vases and projectors. There's a spiral walkway that leads to the stuffed animals and preserved butterflies. On the same floor was an installation art of white ribbons which attracted me at first then I found myself in a room with paintings, some were interesting and most of them were dark and disturbing. There's also wood sculptures of faces and bodies that seemed like they were melting. Then the paintings were all about genitalias of different shape and form. I hurried myself to find a way out but it was a confusing labryinth. Then there's the 3rd level that showed photos and artifacts from the war. Then a big empty space with a few tarps of former Vietnam leaders. I saw dinosaurs on the other side but decided to just leave. I was expecting more because Hanoi has a rich history (pre-war, during the war and how it transformed itself to the city it is now). It's a s good thing it was free. Otherwise, I would give it 1 star.

Nice museum, large space, with beautiful views. But there are a few items to see. No fee except fossil room and small fees for parking.

I came here while there is an exhibition of digitized masterpieces "Magister Raffaello". Thanks to current state-of-the-art technologies, the works are displayed in a chronological order marking the life and career milestones of the painter. The exhibition goes beyond the concept of a “multimedia production”, blending together scientific rigor, technological innovation and artistic talent, designed to have a unique emotional impact on visitors. Along the exhibition itinerary, the visitor will encounter a variety of media, including images, narrations and music, which provide a comprehensive experience of the artist’s genius and explain the essential place he holds within the History of Art. Last but not least, the plus point is the exhibition was freely open for audience to come :)

I walked to this “museum” since it was right next to my hotel... i used this term loosely since it only had the 1st floor exhibit open at the time of this review. The spiral walkway to access each floor was quite unique and there is a coffee shop on site... but outside of that there is really nothing of worth to see in it’s current state. I would wait for an update before spending your time making your way here to visit.

I think they might still be working on setting up this museum. Either that or it's currently undergoing work, as a lot of it seemed less than organized. A lot of the displays don't have English explanations, and some don't even have Vietnamese explanations. There's also a lot of empty areas, as well as an entire floor not accessible between floors, with visible work going on. So, if/when the work is done and the flow better arranged, I think it will be a better visit. That said, there were a lot of very interesting pictures from the war, and some interesting reading for what was available in English. There are also a lot of old and beautiful artifacts and pottery. As I noted above, might be worth waiting this one out a bit, although entrance was free so nothing was lost.

The building is interesting for its architecture and if you are into modern architecture it's worth the visit... The collections are not particularly impressing, though the ground floor specimens are indeed remarkable. These are the only ones that enjoy some English or French descriptions. Hence if you do not speak Vietnamese I would not suggest this visit.

(Translated by Google) To commemorate the 1000 year anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, a project to build a new Hanoi museum has been implemented with a huge investment, the new Hanoi Museum is located in the construction area of the Convention Center. Vietnam country in Me Tri ward, Nam Tu Liem district; It has an inverted pyramid structure, in which the 4th floor has the largest area, the lower floors are smaller. Design of consulting joint venture GMP - ILAG (Germany); was built on a total area of about 54,000 m², 30.7 meters high. The project includes 4 floors and 2 basements; construction area is approximately 12,000 m², floor area is more than 30,000 m² (including basement and roof floor). The museum was inaugurated on October 6, 2010. An estimated 50,000 artifacts are on display here. The museum's architecture is designed in an inverted pyramid, with 4 floors (the 4th floor has the largest area, the lower floors are smaller) and 2 basements. That architectural shape makes the project have a complex structure, requiring many high technical requirements for the first time applied in Vietnam. This architecture originated in the 70s and 80s of the 20th century and quickly became famous worldwide. The works are constructed from the highest floor with four pillars, and then build down the lower floors in turn. The reverse pyramid in Slovakia, the lobby of the Easar Palace building in Las Vegas, the East Crown building in China are the famous buildings in the world applying this architecture. Inside the museum, the interior architectural space continues to bring visitors to other surprises. Right in the main hall, one can observe the panorama of the circular floor space, a spiral-shaped slope connecting all four floors. The large light in the middle of the hall has a circular mold, between the cross; From below it feels like a giant hat reaching the top of the museum. It was the designer's idea to create a counter-clockwise spiral inside the Museum - the walkway connecting the floors. Visitors will continue in this direction around the outer hall of each floor to visit. This is also the "scroll" that connects the past with the present, bringing visitors back in time to witness the historical traces of the thousand-year-old capital. With the idea of telling visitors the story of the history of the capital, the artifacts in the museum are displayed and arranged in chronological order. Places, objects, events, and people are connected through emotional narrative stories. If the overall architecture of the Museum is a highlight of the capital's development, the display content contains the quintessence and soul of Hanoi throughout its thousand-year history. The most impressive is the re-creation model of Ba Vi National Park with rich flora and fauna, many rare plant species such as Bach Xanh, Bamboo Pine, Semen ..., there are only species in Ba Vi such as Cauliflower, Litsea, Fishbone ... However, the most notable is the display area on the 3rd floor because of the outstanding amount of artifacts and very rich. The artifacts here come mainly from the private collection of collectors Vu Tan and Nguyen Dinh Su. Not only has the largest number of artifacts, but his collection is also extremely rich. In which, many artifacts are considered "priceless" such as a series of ancient bronze drums, earthenware from the Ly Dynasty, bronze Ly-Mac, Dong Son bronze, Bat Trang ceramics and collection of ancient Extremely rare coin with a millennium age from the Dinh - Le - Ly - Tran dynasties. The exhibition area of Mr. Su's artifacts is enclosed and strictly guarded by a camera system and four separate bodyguards. Outside, the museum park space now also has a display area of the Biological Society of Hanoi City and other provinces and cities. Precious bonsai pots, lively plants, and beautiful spaces add to the museum's space, creating more stops.

The building itself is interesting due to it being an unusual upside-down pyramid, but the interior has no permanent museum exhibits, as of this writing. Check ahead of time to see if there’s an exhibit to see. Otherwise, the exterior grounds are quite beautiful, & could be a pleasant walk in good weather. All free!

It appears that the higher floors are being revamped. The first floor is a nice exhibit of cultural artefacts, and near the museum there is a traditional crafts exhibit that is just as interesting. It might seem a bit lacking right now, but I will make another visit later and give an update.

The museum is still under renovation. I didn't really like the exhibition on the 2nd storey with the weird sculptures- because the space was messy, overcrowded and there were no iterations of the art. However the last floor on ho chi minh is eye opening, the history and experience he went. I loved the peoms he wrote during his imprisonment

+ It is very free to access, not only entrance but also access to the arts. Relatively bright lights and Friendly display makes people comfortable. And I saw many young girls and boys taking pictures with the arts. 0 There are few ancient things. It doesn't look like a typical museum but a art gallery. - Too much Vietnamese government's advertising.

I recently visited Hanoi museum, and I must say, the schedule is quite inconvenient for any tourist. The bizarre operating hours, coupled with a midday break, make it challenging for anyone exploring the city to fit in a visit. This scheduling choice seems to be a unique inconvenience that I haven't encountered in any other museum worldwide. Taking a break in the middle of the day is strange.

Very interesting visit. Mostly all about the Vietnam war and invasion from the French and the negative impact and poor treatment to the people. It is very sad to see the hardships these people have been through from past invaders but also glad to see how Vietnam is showing positive signs of growth and prosperity. I would highly recommend a visit to Hanoi because it’s totally at the crossroads between modern and old style Vietnam.

The museum is very beautiful. Now the security when you go inside are MEN?!? Oh yeah, big deal. The ground floor contains a lot of exhibits, especially the center area of the museum, where recently there opened an exhibit area that stores Vietnam’s National Treasures! And there’s even a BASEMENT floor which btw is only open for conferences. OVERALL, the exhibits were enough to make me EXHI-llirated. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AREA TO VISIT!!!!
