Get ready for a boat tour around Trang An at Ninh Binh It’s known as the Ha Long Bay of the land. About 150 kilometres from the famous Vietnamese bay where hundreds of islands form a natural wonder is another equally as impressive landscape. This one, known as Trang An, is nowhere near the coast, though. The mountains are connected by rice paddies, not water. You can cycle to them, not sail. And – best of all – they are not full of foreign tourists. Such is the joy of a Trang An boat tour.

A beautiful 3 hour boat tour! There are 3 route options, all take the same time but see different things. I chose route 2- which is seeing 4 caves & 4 temples. I think it was just the right amount before you get tired of it. Gets very touristy at weekends. Costs 200,000 dong per person (adult). Staff wasn’t very nice and didn’t speak English. They provide life vests which you must wear during the boat tour. Overall a nice experience.

Anyone who visits Hanoi absolutely must come to this place. More than an hour of boat riding through the quiet, serene river with beautiful landscapes. There is a designated rower for your boat, but there is also 4 paddles for a maximum of 4 passengers to paddle as well. You can ease the burden of the rower, most of them are of the older age and they row NON STOP for more than an hour. Please give them a tip for their incredible hard work and resilience! they deserve it so much! Bask in the scenery. My dad loves it so much! definitely recommend to bring your parents here. I don't recommend bringing young kids though... its dangerous and not to mention it'll probably be boring to them. Not much animals to see too, you can see couple of birds, ducks and goats. But not much fish nor any other animals.

This was my second trip with Hanoi Explore Travel and we absolutely loved it. Once again the guide Tommy was enthusiastic and full of knowledge. He took like millions of photos of us and was a really intersting to talk to. Also the lunch stop was or best vietnamese food so far. At first I was a bit unsure whether this place is worth a visit or not. However it was the best decision I have made. Personally I love this place more than Halong Bay. The tour start of with visiting king Dinh tien temple. The tour guide explained us the history of Vietnam and the reason why they moved capital city to Hanoi which was very interesting story. Before lunch we got a chance to ride a bike to see the mountains view which was amazing. The main highlight of this tour is the bamboo boat ride at Trang an.The view is spectacular no wonder it is listed as UNESCO world heritage. The air is so fresh and clean. We end the trip with climbing a 500 steps above mua cave to reach the peak of the amazing view. It worth all the sweats!!

The boat and Pagoda tour was amazing!! The site was breathtaking and some of the most beautiful scenery I've seen in Vietnam. Thao was our guide and she was so informative and spoke great English. She really made the tour standout!

The drive through the chaotic streets of Hanoi was calm and safe. Upon arrival we were greeted by Thao, who was our very friendly guide. She knows the nicest bike routes and even invited us to a cooking course, in which we were taught by her how to make super tasty spring rolls and traditional cooked greens with beef. Most of the ingredients we used came fresh out of Thao's garden. Our activities included climbing the 500 steps of Mua Cave in order to reach the pagoda and enjoy the incredible view, then we explored the region which we had just seen from above by riding our bikes in between the mountains along pond with blooming lotus flowers. After lunch, we were treated to a boat ride in the waters of Trang An, which lasted approximately 2 1/2 hours. Finally we visited the temple where Thao told us some of the interesting history. All in all it was a fantastic experience which makes sense for all who are staying in Hanoi and have a day to spare. The Nature in Trang An is really worth seeing! DO NOT GO TO HA LONG BAY. I have no idea why Hanoi Bay is such a tourist "must-see". I took this day tour with two friends in April 2023, and our experience was SUCH a let down. Think of the worst school field trip you've ever been on: crowded, long lines, forced activities and minimal amenities. Many people coming here might have seen the Bay on TikTok, with picturesque images of people cruising and/or swimming. Let me be clear: though there are some great photo ops, you will not swim on this tour. The water is way too polluted and busy and the 800 other tour boats doing the exact same thing as you. There's a sundeck on the boat - outfitted with astroturf and a few lawn chairs - but you're only able to sit there for specific parts of the trip. Your first stop will be a communal beach where you have the option to swim, though the swarms of people and plastic trash washing up on the beach really take you out of the moment. If that's not enough, anything you want to purchase on board requires cash (we were not told that before hand, so we couldn't even drink our sorrows with a few beers. Also we were given three different prices for a bottle of water because we were American). Additionally, before you even get to the bay, the tour makes a mandatory stop at a Pearl factory where you're encouraged to buy souvenirs. But even if you don't buy anything, don't worry, because there will be vendors on the boat pushing you to buy more pearls and nick-nacks for the majority of the trip. All in all, please don't make the mistake we did. Avoid this tourist trap, save yourself the day, the dollars and the emotional anguish.

We did a day trip to Ninh Binh (Bai Dinh, Trang An and Mua Cave) and everything was just fine. The guide was super friendly and informative. The drive in the luxury bus was very comfortable. The sites itself were quite busy, but that was to be expected and obviously nothing the operator can do about. Overall, would definitely recommend!

We went on day trip to Ninh Binh with this company and the tour was great! Our itinerary was: Hoa Lu Trang An Mua Cave Small Group – Limousine Transfer. Very good organization, they adapted the itinerary on the spot so we don’t overlap with other groups and be over crowded. Very diverse activities - we visited temples, went biking, with the boat and hiking for the viewpoint at Mua Caves - it was a full and fun day! Our tour guide was Mr. Bao (hope I am spelling right) and he was fun, energetic and very knowledgeable. Lunch was ok, don’t have much expectations. What seemed a little bit too long was the boat ride - around 2h. The landscape is amazing and the ladies rowing are doing a great job, but the seats are uncomfortable and your back hurts.

We booked the Ha Long Bay 6 hour tour. With travel to and from Hanoi, ultimately this was a 12 hour tourist trap that felt like being carted around a water park where you can’t even go in the water. Every activity was overcrowded since the other boats are all on the same schedule. You shouldn’t go in the water because it’s super polluted, though only one stop allowed for the possibility. We were not told ahead of time that all drink purchases on the boat (including drinking water) were cash only. Honorable mention for the staff since they were very nice, but this was not my idea of a fun excursion.

We did a Private Hoa Lu Tam Coc Mua Cave Full Day Tour from Hanoi. Hanoi Explore Travel arranged our private pick up and drop off, and the trip went smoothly. Our tour guide spoke good English, and she was polite and helpful throughout our tour. Private boat tour of Tam Coc with private boat was super fun and has amazing scenery. Must visit Mua Cave and hike up to Hang Mua viewpoint. However, Hoa Lu Ancient City was disappointing as nothing original from the ancient city remains. Our tour included a lunch at a family restaurant that is located away from the tourist area. Very quiet and relaxing, and food was very good too. We would like to visit again during the Lotus season, and we would use Hanoi Explore Travel again.

I joined a city day tour on the 21st of Nov 23 with my family. The tour was good, learnt alot and enjoyed myself alot. But the bus was too small. However, I'd like to take time to compliment my tour guide, Mr Chuong. His work was beyond exemplary. Tour of 2 days 1 night was ok, tour guys good. Too bad Tam cốc was visited in the afternoon, would’ve been better in the morning before noon when all the water lilies were blooming. 2 buffet lunches at the same restaurant were bad, a lot of food but poor tasting, same menu, local food would be much better. Tam cốc central bungalows where we were assigned to stay was beautiful on the outside, but the bathroom was horrible.
