Needs some urgent restoration and cleaning up. Thap Rua Tower, in the middle of Hoan Kiem Lake, looks very tatty these days, which is a shame as it's in such a prominent position. Good to photograph, but looks tattier the more you zoom in. A stark contrast to the completely restored Huc Bridge area in the northern part of the lake.

A must see for tourists. The Lake of Returned Sword (Hoan Kiem) sits in the centre of busy, downtown Hanoi. It tells the tale of the Hoan Kien turtle. Take the time to walk around the lake, about 45 minutes. Or choose to take a cyclo and tour thr city for an hour. If you choose to walk, there is a red bridge and temple to visit for the price of 30,000 Dong. Around thr perimeter of the lake, there are small monumentd and temples. You can also pick up souvenirs and enjoy some vietnamese coffee.

Something you don't see everyday. A little tower in the middle of a lake.

Legendary landmark tortoise island in the middle of Hoan Kiem lake. Photo from far for the scrapbook a must, for the historical value alone is worth it, though not much to be seen. Not sure whether accessible by boat. Reflection in the lake makes photo nice.

Such a beautiful park around the lake. So many near by site seeing restaurants and coffee shops. People dancing and exercising with awesome positive and happy energy. Magmatic!

Turtle tower looks very ancient, the evening with fanciful lights. There are no boats or bridges to this tower. Tourists can only watch from afar, take photos. Good tip: sit and drink iced tea to hunt for the best pictures without anyone disturbing.

Brought the Turtle Monk here. He gave me 1000 gold in return + he joined my army. Wasn't much but still helped in defeating The Ming Army. All hail Le Loi! Hanoi liberated!
