Something you don’t have to miss while in Hanoi! This cafe is beside the railway, making it an instant tourist attraction. Before the train passes, you need to adjust how you sit so you won’t be able to touch the moving train. It’s thrilling and kinda dangerous, but it’s worth the experience. While waiting, you can enjoy snacks or drink beer. One advice is to take the cap off your beer bottle and put it on the railway. The train will flatten it, making it an instant souvenir! The owner was also jolly! She was born in 1990. Hence, the name.

The only way to experience Hanoi’s Famous Train Street! We were lucky enough to get the ‘current’ train times in advance from the owner (a massive tip that we had received was to WhatsApp the business and they got back to us straight away!) and booked a table for that night (again another great tip!). By the time we arrived the party was in full swing and excitement levels were high! We also noticed that loads of customers had purchased a beer each so they could put their bottle caps on the rails and get a flattened souvenir of the night! The owner gives everyone advance notice of when the train is coming and which direction it’s coming from, whilst also advising how to sit and ensure you don’t get hurt. We had such a great time that we were able to see the next two trains come through (as they were close together) and then we were on our way for the night. Would 100% recommend this location to watch, enjoy and get the adrenaline pumping whilst witnessing such an amazing sight in Hanoi!! Note: We were also advised that we should avoid the 3.30pm train as the police come to block tourists the during that time.

If you want to experience train street you need to come to Hanoi 1990s! The service is absolutely wonderful. I tried their traditional egg coffee and my mom had a Hanoi Beer. Both great options on the menu! The train came at 1:45pm and they were super nice in informing us where to go for the best view and best photos/videos! This is an absolute must! Highly recommend!

OMG! In addition to seeing the train, the food and coffee was delicious. Seatings to see the train is quite limited so come at least 30 minutes before the train leaves from Hanoi. The schedule for the train isn't easy so good luck on finding that too. My traveling companion enjoyed a coffee and said it was so much better than the other hyped place while I had a nice Vietnamese coffee with condensed milk. Plus, we got to enjoy two delicious and authentic Vietnamese appetizers.

Fantastic little cafe in a perfect location to safely see the trains passing. The owner and team were incredibly friendly and helpful. I highly recommend arriving early, grabbing a drink or two, and watch the trains pass. I've attached a picture of the passenger train schedule, however, we managed to see a non passenger train but at 9pm Monday.

I had the best experience here , the owner directed us nicely right from the very day we contacted her . The drinks were nice and pocket friendly she even offered to take our pictures and videos . This is the only place you can watch the train pass while you seat and sip your coffee without anyone been rude to you. For your mental health and to avoid bullying and harassment from other vendors I recommend here they are welcoming. I rate them 5stars.

Amazing experience! Felt very welcomed and looked after during my time waiting to catch a video of the train going past. DO NOT take into account negative reviews from the locals when considering this place. If in doubt, read the review of this place by tourists. My understanding is that this is purely rival cafes trying to bring down the ratings. Lovely host, lovely place, lovely atmosphere and great location to grab a video of the train from a safe distance. Grab a drink and enjoy!

One of the best services I experienced in Hanoi. The lady boss and her mom were really friendly and they alerted us to the oncoming train and told us about how it was dangerous to be on the tracks. They were also very happy to help us take photos on the tracks after the train had passed :) Had coconut juice while waiting and it was good. They also serve other juices and Vietnamese dishes as well.

Very nice spot in the middle of the picturesque train street. We had a drink waiting for the train to pass by (3.30 p.m). The owners were incredibly nice and friendly and they really contributed to make the experience unique! I highly recommend it :)

Located right next to the rail track. Very helpful staff provide you exact info about the train timing. Delicious Vietnamese coffee and other snacks. Loved the place.

The staff entertained us well and were very, very friendly. They went beyond the usual service by also offering to take our photos and give instructions regarding our safety, all without us soliciting for help and all without them expecting gratuity. On top of the good service, of course, was their tasty food AND the awesome 1-minute running train thrill

Wow , right along the train tracks. You get to sit along the train tracks and watch the train pass. Try the coconut coffee . I loved it. Please note, there are certain safety protocols you may need to observe for your safety. The restaurant owner will guide you and give you tips on where and how to sit as the train passes . It was a pleasant experience .

Perfect, hassle-free train spotting view! I arrived at the Google Maps pin “Hanoi Train Street (southern)” and walked 50m up the tracks/left hand path to the cafe - you can breeze through, no guards or barricades here. Recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before the train is due (check the photos to see the timetable) to secure a good spot close to the tracks. Super friendly staff who served people quickly and helped everyone to take good photos and videos. Really enjoyed my egg coffee. Thank you!

The café offers an experience that no railway enthusiast should miss - it is located directly on the railway line. With good timing, you can experience the train passing right in front of you. This unusual spectacle is a real event and gives the place a unique flair. The prices are reasonable, but it is the unique experience that makes a visit here so special. For anyone looking for an unusual café experience, I highly recommend this place. Be sure to check out the photos for the train schedule so you can best plan your visit to experience this special moment. A visit here is certainly a highlight you won't soon forget.

Fantastic view of the train and such a cute cafe! Their egg coffee was incredible and the owner was so sweet and offered to take photos of us by the train track. Highly highly recommend if you're wanting to see train street or even just have an excellent egg coffee!

Great spot to watch the train go by. We got lucky and it came twice. We ended up spending almost two hours here and the service is amazing. The made sure we got all the pictures on the actual train tracks and they bring out the coffee/beer/food fast but the quality is amazing. I enjoyed the coconut coffee while my boyfriend enjoyed the egg coffee 10/10. I would recommend coming for any of the train times it’s not super busy plus they have an upstairs!!

We arrived for the last train when the coffee shop was already closing. However the staff was very lovely and offered us drinks, snacks and took photos of us. We felt very well taken care of! Definitely recommend checking this place if you wanna get a less tourist-experience of the night train in Hanoi.

We didn’t want to write a review on this place as we don’t want it full of tourists- it was brilliant. The owner is so friendly and you get the best view of the train. We went during the week so if you head down who 1840 you’ll catch about 3 trains within the hour. This cafe is just south of Hanoi station and currently there’s no police or security so you can walk straight up the tracks. Drinks are so cheap and we had some tapas like food which was so tasty! The owner helps you take the photos you want and when you order a beer puts the bottle tops on the track which the train then flattens and you can keep as a souvenir - she was brilliant! I would recommend this over and over again it’s everything you want and the train is terrifying but brilliant at the same time. The owner gives you warning when it is coming and explains about tucking your knees in so you don’t get hit! The owners family are brilliant too and gave us a free rain poncho as it was raining when we left. Our best night in Hanoi. If you want to see train street go here but don’t tell to many people!

I heard the other touristy part to watch the train got closed off so we went here instead! Not as busy, owners were very friendly and plenty of space to watch the train go by. Attached are the train run times so make sure to come 30mins early to get a spot! Definitely worth it

A very cute bar on the famous Hanoi train track. It is run by a guy who was undoubtedly one of the kindest people we found in all of Vietnam (and that is saying a lot). The prices are incredible given the place where the bar is located (a Coke is €0.8 as a reference). In addition to having its own terrace, the place has an upper part from which you can watch the train go by without having to leave your table. Right in front of the premises there is a sign that informs you of the train schedules. Definitely a 10/10 place and a mandatory stop in Hanoi.

A great little find, cool place to take pics on the track (as long as done so safely) some places don’t allow on the tracks but here you can. Great food and drinks (the coconut coffee is the best!!) and super friendly lady owner (wish I got your name!) Get a beer around the time the train comes and they will put the cap on the line so it gets squashed and makes a cool souvenir!

Very friendly, young people and good coffee. They inform you pretty good about the train. The perfect place to experience the train street. Rain started pouring suddenly and the guy from the cafe escorted the guests, including us, to their taxis/cars with an umbrella which saved us from being soaked. Would recommend!

The good the food here is actually just a bonus. The owner/host and her family's hospitality in managing the visitors is superb! They absolutely know what they're doing. They know the train schedule, they know necessary precautionary measure for safety, they're kind communicates very well which I appreciate too! Will definitely drop by for a visit once I go back to Vietnam. A must visit! Love from The Philippines!

This place was lovely and we stumbled across this just before the train passed through on the small road which was quite an experience. Lovely atmosphere after the crowds dispersed with it being on a quiet side street. The lady who worked there was great, lovely service and she offered to take some pictures of us on the tracks as well. Nice options of food and drink. The avocado and coconut smoothie tasted delicious. We also had some vegan spring rolls which were well done although not quite to our taste due to having a meaty texture. For people who like alternative veggie food who miss meat due to ethical reasons I would recommend these. 😁

Best place to experience the train! Wonderful service, and good prices. The lady who runs the cafe is lovely and offers a warm welcome! Highly recommend. P.S. Ignore the clown dressed like security/police blowing on his whistle ( he is a scam artist trying to make you stop at first cafe at start of street) and keep walking down to Hanoi 1990s.

I went there to watch the train as part of a tour. That place is so cool. The train is freaky but an awesome experience. Ruined only by the young Muppet beside us who decided touching a train going at high speed would be a good idea.

This is the best coffee shop in Hanoi to experience train street. First, you can contact them via WhatsApp to get the timetable for when the train will arrives. I love that they get back to you instantly. Second, the location couldn’t be any better. They have both the balcony and the ground floor seatings. You can choose to view the train from either one of the locations. Lastly, even though this is a tourist location, they don’t overcharge you. The price for our drinks were very reasonable. We would definitely come back. Quick tip: Arrive at least 30 minutes before the train arrives to snap some photos and get settled in. Within the last 5-10 minutes, it is very crowded

Came here cos the tracks north of the station were closed - we caught the 1545 train going by to HCMC. The hosts here were very friendly, welcomed us in and offered to help us take photos on the tracks. There were another two cafes along the area but this was the most popular one. Drinks were good 👍🏼 too.

Sadly missed the train by 5mins, friendly young proprietor, this morning welcome breeze of winter it was refreshing and cool to sit in his cafe. However food really needs improvisation, eggs banhmi were super grossly salty. The egg coffee was good enough, plenty of westerner tourist came and they did be glad to help whoever that needs a photo pose. Good reasonbale prices, whatever you seen in photo is super affordable.

I intended on waiting until I was back home in the U.K. to leave reviews but Linh was so lovely today, I wanted to make sure I left a review ASAP. We found her number on tripadvisor when I read about train street, Linh was so polite/lovely - she made sure we knew exactly how to get there/train times. Linh also went out of her way to get some lovely photos of me and my other half on the tracks and Give us the bottle cap from our beer after the train squashed it. Such a lovely little souvenir. Such a little highlight of Hanoi, the juice was lovely. A shame that we were not that hungry otherwise we would have sampled some more of the menu. If we get chance when we are back in Hanoi in a few weeks, we will come back down!
