I
had
a
bad
experience
at
this
hospital.
Dr.
A
Chowdhury
lacked
empathy.
He
was
very
unprofessional,
rude,
and
lacked
transparency.
We
did
not
give
consent
to
the
hospital
for
invasive
ventilation
for
our
88
year
old
mother
respecting
my
mother’s
wishes.
She
had
so
many
underlying
medical
conditions,
multiple
surgeries,
and
had
been
suffering
for
years.
She
was
at
the
last
stage
of
COPD
and
wanted
to
leave
peacefully
without
any
life
support
ventilator.
The
doctor
disagreed
with
our
decision
and
publicly
shouted
at
us,
behaved
rudely
with
my
sister
because
she
was
not
giving
her
consent
to
ventilation.
He
literally
coerced
us
to
use
ventilation
(legally
ventilation
is
always
a
choice
and
he
cannot
force
us)
and
threaten
to
withdraw
his
medical
service
if
we
do
not
put
her
under
ventilation.
He
did
not
show
any
reports,
stopped
updating
us.
We
had
to
wait
for
hours
in
the
hallway
to
have
less
than
a
minute
of
talk,
with
no
data
based
update
but
just
sarcastic
comments.
We
consulted
other
doctors
and
they
said
that
even
ventilation
won’t
recover
her
but
just
prolong
her
painful
living.
Many
hospitals
now
do
not
hesitate
to
torture
patients
by
keeping
them
alive
on
machines.
Especially,
if
they
belong
to
the
senior
group.
If
invasive
ventilation
was
mandatory,
it
would
never
have
the
approval
clause.
But,
he
didn’t
hesitate
to
treat
us
with
utmost
disrespect
because
my
mother’s
moral
standard
was
different.
He
questioned
our
motives.
I
could
have
questioned
his
motives
too
when
he
insisted
to
keep
an
88
year
old
alive
on
machine
against
her
wises
so
that
she
can
spend
days
in
hospital.
Bad,
really
bad.
If
you
have
a
patient
who
is
at
last
stage
with
no
chances
of
recovery,
please
STAY
AWAY
from
him.
My
mother
eventually
passed
away
in
the
hospital.
She
was
on
non
invasive
ventilation.
And,
we
are
happy
we
didn’t
fall
into
his
trap
and
go
for
invasive
ventilation.
Death
was
certain
for
her
based
on
all
other
doctors.
At
least
we
could
manage
her
pain.
I
wish
we
got
the
support,
empathy,
and
professionalism
from
the
doctor.
But,
it
was
brutal.
Maybe
Dr.
Chowdhury
should
be
in
some
other
profession,
or
see
a
psychiatrist
to
work
on
his
emotional
maturity,
or
revisit
his
ethical
standards.
