This restaurant serves pure vegetarian food, menu inspired by the royal kitchens of India. I tried their Vasant Ritu Thali that consisted of Pudina Raita (Crushed dried mint mixed in thick creamy curd, finished with golden pearls of spiced gram), Krishnatil Alu ( Baby potatoes simmered in curd gravy, flavoured with whole kachri and dried mango garnished with fresh coriander and roasted black sesame), Khumb Matar(Mushroom and season fresh green peas cooked together, finished with fresh coriander), Gobhi (Cauliflower cooked in homemade garam masala, tempered with cumin and asafoetida, garnished with freshly chopped coriander), Kesariya Paneer (Stuffed slices of cottage cheese simmered in curd gravy, flavoured with whole saffron, finished with generous sprinkle of cardamom powder, Chanaka Pulao (Aged basmati rice cooked with black gram flavoured with clove and hint of desi ghee) & Makhane Chuara Kheer (Rice slow cooked in milk with puffed lotus seeds and dry dates flavoured with cardamom, served cold garnished with silver leaf). The Varsha Ritu Menu is available as a set menu at INR 2250 plus taxes. My favourite was the kesariya paneer.

Celebrated my anniversary dinner here & the experience for really really amazing. The staff are amazing & friendly & they know the menu & will definitely help you out with it. The best part it's pure veg & option for pure jain thali as well. They are 4 thali options in which u can choose as per taste needed. This I'll definitely say that no thali will disappoint you. 😬😬 A definitely must visit.

This signature restaurant presents a delightful offering of delectable vegetarian food from the magnificent royal Kitchens of India. Guided by the precepts of Ayurveda, much of the cuisine on offer is attuned to the season, observing the ideal combination of tastes. The concept of the Royal Vegetarian Menu is manifested on three imperative factors. The first being the philosophy of taste or rasa, second being the food crop, vegetables, fruits and grains available round the year and finally followed by the Perennial availability of the fruits and vegetables according to the six seasons on the stretch of every two months in the Indian Calendar. The Indian sub-continent experiences six seasons and hence our food requirements are as per that particular season. With every two months (masa) commencing with magha, are the six seasons (ritu); sisira (cold and dewy), vasanta (spring), grisma (summer), varsa (monsoon) and hemanta (winter). The Vasant Ritu Menu on offer till 14th May 2022, encompasses the restaurant’s multi-faceted vegetarian repertoire with delights like Mewa Paneer or stuffed rolled paneer and premium dry fruits slow cooked in a gravy of poppy seeds, cashew nut and khoya, Kadali Badaam Kofta or green bananas and almonds marbles simmered in onion and curd gravy finished with timur, Shatawari Maarmik or crisp green asparagus tips seasoned with nuts and raisin pleasant to the heart, Shahi phal Sandesh or layered sandesh and season fresh fruits napped with rabri flavoured with cardamom and pampore saffron. The food was satisfying, not over exaggerated but settle, flavors were prominent be it the spices, dairy part or the vegetables. The Vasant Ritu Menu is available as a set menu at INR 2250 plus taxes, ala carte portions are available on request.

It’s a beautiful traditional Indian thali restaurant. One of the best in the city I would say. We had their seasonal thali, which was great- unusual vegetable great taste. Their hospitality was also remarkable. Do visit if you want to have a good royal thali.

I took my mom out for lunch ... though they don't have a different menu for lunch but still the thali(vegan) was more than enough...food was awesome, deserts are also good enough. Staffs are very polite and they will make u feel home ...my mom stated talking with a waiter like a neighbour (Bengali mom's u can't stop😂) ...but the also behaved like they knew us for year and in Bengali (i appreciate it cause being a Bengali i love to hear and speak it in WB) .... Overall you won't feel any loss or regret.... I will sure visit again. Thali cost around 2.25k/per plate with GST ...but it worth every penny .. must visit.

My review is purely based on food taste and not on decor or service, which are expected from a typical luxury dining. There are 4 options of Thalis - had ordered the 1st and 3rd option for my family, sorting the menus from the low cost option. Please note, we are a Bengali vegetarian family and have tasted vegetarian menus (even with no onion no garlic) across top restaurants. Forget comparing with other restaurants, I should have rather celebrated this special day with home cooked food, rather than wasting my time and appetite overhere. It seemed the chef knows only to use curd/dahi in most of the foods and all seemed to taste same and blant. Even for the deserts, only 2 items were provided - in the rasmalai, you won't be able to find the solid part of it (since its so small) and the halwa was little better, but not that much as that of other places. The only seemed decent, was butter naan. However, the bread options are also limited. Food taste is an individual preference and you may like the food. But, I guarantee, you will get much better vegetarian food (even with no onion no garlic items) in multiple places at Kolkata. Again, pls note, my review is solely based on food taste and nothing else - but, if you do not get food with decent taste, it will spoil your special day, for sure.

Good food, excellent service, only vegetarian fair served. One must select one of predetermined thalis. The only negative is absence of ala carte option. Must visit if you love vegetarian food.

The Ambience Service of the ITC is unmatched. The Royal Vega is a pure vegetarian restaurant with set varieties of Thalis according to season and cuisine. We had two different types of Thalis and found one thing missing Spices..rest all was Excellent the presentation services portion size.

We stayed in ITC ROYAL BENGAL FOR 3 nights , ist day we took dinner at grand market pavilion@ 3000 plus taxes, it was simply awesome in every sense....2nd day we tried Royal vega…they offer North Indian thali.@ 2300 plus taxes...this is just worthless…food service is so worst that they even don’t want to repeat breads…in desert they give two items, rasamalai and halwa…quantity they give , I think they give just sample..less than one tea spoon halwa and if you tell to repeat…they take too much time or ignore and at last visitors are forced to quit.. I stayed in more than 50, 5 star hotels in india and dined in it’s restaurants , I will simply say this restaurant is worst among all of them…if you visit here, be prepared to order food 2nd time again in room dining after coming to room or if you come from home, be prepared to cook food again .

Worst food🤮🤮 The problem arises when these restaurants charge you hefty amounts but gets you the worst food the world can offer. We had ordered three thalis of 2500/- each but the taste and quality was not of the level of any local dhaba or something. The service was too late. The overall experience was bad. I do not recommend this one

I booked a surprise sunday Lunch for my Mom and Dad at royal vega. Samir helped me book at ease, he was also very hospitable to my parents. The server Bapi was attentive and provided an exceptional service. Food quality was top notch, highlights were chole, kadhi, puri and vermicelli dessert. Compliments to the chefs. Great experience overall!
