Primarily provides a peaceful environment to pray and attend the Holy Mass . Secondarily an architectural marvel from the British era with excellent columns , marvellous dome and a beautiful Pieta replica. A must visit spot in your checklist if you are travelling to Delhi.

Very peaceful place. When you come here, you will feel that you have come to the door of God. You will feel very calm and a different peace. Whether you belong to any country or religion, you will be welcomed here. You must definitely come here on Christmas day because the church is most beautiful on that day and there is a special prayer on that day which is in 4 languages at different times. That's why whenever you come to Delhi, definitely come here once.

Visited on the eve of Christmas 25th Dec 2021. Due to COVID Rules no one is allowed inside and it is necessary what they did . But it is well decorated for Christmas so will feel same by outside scenario .

Holy/Spiritual place Visited there on Cristmas eve, when the decoration & celebration 🎊 is at peak. Massive crowd, amazing view. We have got the parking very far away from the place. Make sure to identify safe parking place if travelling with your own vehicle 🚗. Merry Christmas 🎅 Hoho

it is also one of the biggest churches in Delhi. Easter and Christmas are the best time to visit as several major ceremonies are held during these festivals. The façade of the structure, which showcases several elements of the Italian style of architecture, is complemented by equally impressive interiors. Broad arches, murals depicting different events from the Bible, and a high curved roof are some other things to admire. Denomination/Affiliation: Roman Catholic Location: Ashok Place, Delhi Nearest metro station: Patel Chowk (1.1 km)

The Cathedral of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic cathedral belonging to the Latin Rite and one of the oldest church buildings in New Delhi, India. Together with St. Columba's School, and the Convent of Jesus and Mary school, it occupies a total area of approximately 14 acres near the south end of Bhai Vir Singh Marg Road in Connaught Place. Christian religious services are held throughout the year.

Seriously this place is good for those who love peacefully atmosphere. Walking distance (approx 450m) from nearest metro station ONGC Chatrapati Shivaji (Airport line). Strictly prohibited photographs inside the church. Father Luke, a member of the Franciscan first order, founded by St. Francis of Assisi, took the initiative to build the church and the Archbishop of Agra in 1929 Rev. Dr. E. Vanni laid the foundation stone in 1929 and construction began in 1930. Sir Anthony de Mello donated the main Altar of the Church, which is made of pure marble. The Archbishop of Agra presented a bell vestments and altar furniture. The project was financed by the colonial officers of the British Empire.

Beautiful architecture, you can visit here anytime and can sit inside the church which is really peaceful and relaxing. You'll not get disturbed, the interior of the church is really good looking. you'll enjoy your time looking at the garden and they have a library there and a joint school at the back, players happen at a specific time. They celebrated a lovely Christmas here, you can join them up every year. Fun fact : movie named PK starring Amir Khan was shot here at the gate of the holy church.

Sacred Heart Cathedral exceeded my expectations in every way. The architecture is breathtaking, creating a serene and spiritual atmosphere. The clergy's warmth and genuine hospitality added to the profound experience. The attention to detail in maintaining the cathedral is commendable. It's a place that radiates peace and reverence, making it a must-visit for anyone seeking a meaningful connection.

A beautiful and screne church. It is always nice to visit such tranquil place. You can feel a different kind of peace at such places. One can feel a kind of happiness and spirituality in the heart despite of the religion he belongs. A garden outside this church is also big and beautiful.

Perfect example of Architecture of Britisher's. Ambience of the place is too good and feel positive vibes. I think it is the oldest church located in delhi. I am not a church type guy but i love the architectural design because it is the masterpiece of architecture.

The Sacred Heart Cathedral stands out both in importance and in it's appearance. The colonial architecture of this large church is fantastic to look at. Easy to spot from the road this place attracts people of various faiths not only for worship but also as a place to visit. The church is really beautiful from inside and is fairly large. The church is very peaceful and many people come visit this place during the day to have a quiet moment with God. The compound is very well maintained and has nice gardens with many flowering plants.

I was lucky to attend a Mass prayer in the Church. It has a beautiful premises, garden and a parking area. The main church is pretty huge to gather a decent amount of people. The people in the church were following the Covid guidelines properly. Entry is allowed only with a mask due to Covid guidelines, which is a good thing.

Situated in the heart of Lutyens’ Delhi, the Sacred Heart Cathedral was built to minister to the Roman Catholic community of Delhi when New Delhi was being constructed. The construction of the cathedral began in 1930 and was completed in 1935. The church sits in sprawling grounds, with gardens, lawns, a parking lot, and various other buildings, such as the Diocesan Community Centre (DCC) Hall next door. While you can take photos outside the church, photography is prohibited inside. The interior, however, is just as impressive as the outside: there are beautiful paintings of the various Stations of the Cross lining the walls, and the altar is of Carrara marble. A large and very impressive painting adorns the wall behind the altar. Also, do not miss the large statue of Madonna and Child on the left as you enter the church—when we visited a little before Christmas, Mary was decked up in a beautiful zari saree, and baby Jesus was also dressed all in gold. No entry fee is charged, but donations are welcome. Please be mindful that this is a religious space, so dress and demeanour should be in accordance.
