This place was so laid back, I loved the vibe. I had the gumbo and half shrimp po-boy, the portions were just right and was delicious! The roast beef and gravy fries was SO good. Oh and the margaritas 🍹 were fantastic! One of the best I've tasted.

In A Nutshell: -I came by Frankie & Johnny's for their highly rated crawfish, but just missed out by a week. -That was a slight bummer, but you adapt & overcome. -So after looking at their menu, I ordered some Grilled Shrimp w/ Potato Salad. -That turned out to be very tasty, I enjoyed the flavorful shrimp & the potato salad was really good. Overall, this is a neighborhood restaurant in Uptown NOLA where you can enjoy good food & have drinks at their bar.

Good time in the Big Easy! If you want a fun, somewhat locals joint to eat-I highly recommend! Spread out on a picnic table outside, have some nice frosty beers, and indulge in a good Low Country Boil! 🦐

Great experience at Frankie & Johnny's! The food was perfect! We had the seafood gumbo, onion ring and green bell pepper combo, red beans and rice with smoked sausage, and a half shrimp and half catfish poboy. Our server Samantha was the Best! She was so patient and helpful with us when ordering. I do not want to forget the delicious bread pudding! The Bread pudding is the a MUST!

The shrimp poboy was on point and the service was excellent. A much better value, service, and product than the poboy I had in the french quarter. I am glad I stopped at this place.

Ummm, how do you say yummm? Went twice (2x) for lunch during our two-day (2) stay and were there during crawfish season, which was an added bonus.

Friends recommend and I'm glad I went. I chose the seafood Platter which was well prepared and came out hotter than any I've gotten throughout my life. (One oyster even had the largest pearl I've ever gotten, about 5mm.) I'll certainly go again. My only issue was the bathroom could have used some cleaning, hopefully it was just a bad day for someone...

This was a strong recommend from a friend that used to live in New Orleans and I was mad that in all the decades that I have been visiting that I have never been here before. The gumbos were dark and lovely-my favorite. Too light and you're eating gravy. The seafood first came without any shrimp, but that was quickly fixed. Spinach dip was better than most and seemed house made and not a frozen puck like most places. Much more spinach giving it a distinct and better flavor. I had the roast beast debris po-boy which was one of the best I've had in town. Two others had red beans and rice with different proteins-one chicken and the other spicy sausage. When I tell you that those beans were like eating velvet, believe me. Smooth and smoky good. The last entree was fried shrimp and was superb! Standards drinks like Abita Amber to was it down and we rolled out fatter and happier. Go!

Great food, fair prices, ok service. The draw to this spot is clearly the bold authentic flavors. After going to another spot for crawfish and not quite hitting the spot flavor-wise, we had to try again at Frankie & Johnny’s. My cousin who doesn’t like seafood had chicken parm, and even that was delicious. Crawfish were packed with flavor, but the $5 “boil basket” of 2 potatoes, a corn on the cob, and 2 hunks of sausage felt light. Grilled shrimp poboy, fried shrimp, and chicken strips were all delicious as well. Our server seemed to be having a rough day or maybe she was at the end of her shift because she was not pleased with us. The cocktail sauce is fresh and real. Those of you that like it from the bottle have been warned.

We think our Caucasian older waitress was racists toward us when she refused to serve us after taking our drink order. Another waitress replaced her. They gave an excuse that she was ready to go home however she had no problem serving several other customers/parties, white btw, coming in after us. We also noticed everyone around was Caucasian but us. Beside all that. the crawfish sucked! No taste, no seasoning, no butter, no corn or potatoes and no presentation. Wasn’t a pleasant experience for us. The only place we felt this way in all of NOLA.

So first impressions of this place was definitely not good. Service was very slow. Took about 10-15 min till someone took our order and this place was not packed and people ahead of us were already served. However, I’m glad we didn’t get up and leave because the food was amazing! Had it not been for that I would’ve given a one ⭐️ review.

Fun little place off the beaten path in uptown NOLA. Walked here after a long warm day at the Audubon Zoo. The place was quaint and nostalgic with pictures and memorabilia on the walls. The boiled crawfish and fried catfish were delicious. Highly recommend.

If you don't like oysters.... their chargrilled oysters will change your mind forever! The shrimp po' boy was amazing: the bread is two soft pillows cradling delicious shrimp, lettuce, mayo, and tomato; as if it wasn't already perfect, Heather (my awesome waitress) suggested putting ketchup on it.... mind blowing!

When I visit NOLA I have made this neighborhood restaurant a regular stop. I enjoy everything about it. Food, staff and the cold 🍺. All of the food we ordered was delicious. Go for the grilled shrimp, Po Boy and gumbo. You will not be disappointed. Parking is available in a lot and the street! Shout out to Nicola for providing us fantastic service!

Food was great. Plenty of free parking. I was a bit disappointed that oysters on the half shell was only served on the weekends. The char broiled is everyday but if that is the case I'm assuming the char broiled ones are cooked from a frozen batch. I will say they were good. Would I come back? Absolutely. I had the peel and eat shrimp and they were fantastic

It has been a while since we've been here. Heather was an awesome 😎 server and took very good care of us. Food was good and couldn't have asked for anything more

Service is abysmal! Sat at our table for over 2 hours only to see our waiter 1 time after having to go find them and ask for refills. Food took over two hours to get to table! Food is pretty good. But thank god for the stale saltines on the table! They also forgot to make all of our food and forced a portion of our party to take it to-go!

This was so good and exactly what I was looking to find on a trip to NOLA. Off the beaten path but not too far from touristy stuff. The spicy on the crawfish was great and the chicken and sausage gumbo was probably the best I’ve ever had. Great prices as well. Would recommend to anyone and everyone.

Came because all the reviews was good. But once we sat down and ordered our food came and it was not worth what they charge. I mean if you eat like a bird you will be good. But other than that definitely not worth it. I ordered the grilled shrimp platter with potato salad. Got a whole 10 pieces of shrimp , a piece of bread and one ice cream scoop of potato salad for $20 … which was more like a appetizer instead of a platter . Don’t recommend save your money and just go to the gas station u get more for your buck.

Went to this place and wanted catfish, asked if it was the frozen catfish filets and to my surprise the waiter said no the catfish is fresh!! I ordered the plate with some homemade onion rings and it was awesome. The fish was to die for, will be going back to this place. The staff was very nice and it was really clean.

Red beans and rice and fried shrimp poboys were worth getting. Both styles of Gumbo were neither diners favorite. Super casual bar and restaurant in the neighborhood. Very nice walk among historic homes to the St Charles streetcar so enjoy the 20 min walk after stuffing yourself

I love the red beans here as well as the poboys. They also have a good beer selection. I would stay away from the artichoke. My sister warned me that when she had gotten it it was microwaved and Colin the middle. I ordered it anyway. It was microwaved and cold in the middle. Too bad because it used to be my go to appetizer. Everything else was great.

We tried the pork chops plate with sweet potato fries (divine), gumbo (some of the best in NOLA) red beans and rice with smoked sausage and black-eyed peas. Everything was very tasty and the service was friendly. Definitely going back!

Tonight I decided to order take-out for my sister who’s in town. I’ve bragged on Frankie & Johnny red beans for quite some time to her, and I thought I’ll treat her tonight I ordered the take out. I returned home to find only beans with no rice for two orders. I called Frankie and Johnnys to notify them of the problem. The old guy (bartender) that initially took my order answered the phone. I began to explain the problem he instantly had an attitude, and abruptly hung up the phone. I was taken back by his actions that I drove there. To my surprise as I walked in I saw the same guy stuffing his face with food while working with an house full of patrons. How sanitary is that? He didn’t have a minute to speak to me. As if I wasn’t a paying customer. I even tipped him when I initially picked up the food. I asked the manager for a refund and explained the situation and the workers attitude. He offered me a free dessert. I was so upset I refused. I was totally appalled that an employee could treat a patron in such a manner. The manager instructed the guy to give me a refund. The guy rudely placed the money on the counter not in my hand. That’s a full blown racist action. I wish no one else has to endure what I endured with the guy. I will no longer spend my hard earned money at an establishment where their workers are comfortable disrespecting patrons.
