What a gem. A lovely little hole in the wall hidden in a neighborhood. Cheap drink, colorful local, Owner Jake was hanging out at the bar. I’m an out of towner but Jake was a very welcoming guy with some great Nola at stories. Sure, the Snake and Jake’s ceiling tiles look like they may cave in at any moment, but thats all part of the charm. Oh, and are they really open until 6am? Does anyone go here until 6am? I asked and the bartender delivered: yes and yes. In the wee hours, service industry and the local medical crowds frequent the bar. So, allegedly, if you want to crush beers at 5:30 am, this is the place to do it.

Christmas puked all over and was never cleaned up! The decorations are ridiculously amazing, and there were two pups sleeping on a couch inside. Affordable drinks, good music, atmosphere on point!

Ahh Snake and Jake's. This bar is the Harry Potter equivalent of The Room of Requirement. It doesn't exist when you're sober but have a few drinks anywhere in New Orleans and you somehow end up here. Be careful though, come around long enough and space-time starts to bend and weird creatures of the night start showing up. Been a fan and regular of this place since 2016 and damn proud of it. Schlitz is king. ¡Viva Schlitz!

At 1st glance, the day before we visited, I thought dang some guy has his garage game on point. The next night we visited with a friend who lives right around the corner. We walked in & it was dark but somehow very alive. We were greeted by the awesome bartender & his assistant who was a beautiful pup. We all had shots, including the pup, lol. His wasn't liquor. We sat & talked & then moved outside. It surprised me with how much room there was. We sat in the dark(only enhanced by red Christmas lights), played rummy, and listened to some dude strum his guitar. I will definitely visit if I'm ever down that way again! Snake & Jake, "2 thumbs up & a tail wag, bro!"

HORRIBLE!!!! My friends and I went here for Spring Break and the bartender (an old white man with a trimmed beard and ofc bald) who was DRUNK refused my friends and I because we weren’t 21, but we were and he FOR THE LOVE OF GOD COULD NOT DO SIMPLE MATH, denied us bc we were “18” and we even did the math for him from our birthdays (2022-2001=21) and he still would not serve us, we stood there for like 20 minutes telling this man how to do simple math. HORRIBLE AND INFURIATING experience. Plus the place was COVERED in cockroaches, I even saw one crawl into a woman’s purse and there were even dead ones under the tables- it looked like it hadn’t been swept in a week. UGH that bartender was just horrible and he still makes my blood boil like 2 months after 🤮🤮

They built a thing so the urinal doesn't dump on the floor anymore. And that gross leather couch is still there.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Never been here before and honestly don’t see myself ever coming back. Tried to go for my friends birthday. All of us are over 21 and we’re looking for a place to end our night. The bouncer denied my passport, which had worked at TSA and have never had a problem with because it was 3 days expired (my new one was still being mailed to me). When the bouncer denied me for my ID being expired, I told him it had just worked at the airport and TSA. he replied to me incredibly rudely “well does this look like an airport to you?” And proceeded to be incredibly harsh and rude to me. For a place that looks like it hasn’t been updated in decades and was almost completely empty, security should not be stricter than the airport. And even if it is the bouncer should not be so rude.

Super cool experience. Met the owner Dave. Met like 4 other people and their life stories. Met some dogs. Had some super stiff drinks. I will be back.

Will let regulars give you the details. Just go here and explore it for yourself. Many annoying college students show up on thursdays here which is live music day, but show up mondays from 9-11 for music on a slower day.

Best dive bar ever! Heard about this place traveling in Chicago, so needed to check it out when in New Orleans. Loved it- friendly staff, people, cool atmosphere and cheap drinks. Highly recommend

One of the best dive bars in New Orleans. It’s a dog-friendly bar that has an unparalleled ambiance and cheaply priced drinks. The outdoor area is such a great vibe and I always bring friends from out of town there. Some of my favorite nights out have been spent there, and will be returning for many more.

A must go to local experience in NOLA. GREAT OWNER and awesome experience. After a Saints game meet the Saint's Pope Boys. Thank you Dave for opening up early for us and sharing your stories.

Had a great time. I love unique dive bars and this is a legend. Highly suggest it. If you bring food in, make sure to feed your bartender too. 😉

Wanna give it another 1/5 just simple because of that one bartender that I see in other reviews has been giving others trouble and I KNOW it’s the same man just bc of the reviews and the similarities between their experiences and ours. WORST BARTENDER EVERRRRR AND THE PLACE HAS ROACHES!!!! Fire him. Fire him. Fire him. I have friends in Tulane who started a Reddit specifically for this horrible bartender that apparently is so rude to EVERYONE HOW IS HE STILL THERE?!?!

Hahaha what an amazing bar. It’s a small hole in the wall dive bar with a large outdoor backyard. It’s open basically all night. If you have a night to spare I’d recommend it - it’s a fun locals spot near Tulane.

Great little hideaway bar. Two loveable dogs waiting to greet you as you grab a drink while singing to some great music with the bartender on Saturday nights. Back courtyard is great for enjoying the night surrounded by a fun environment.

Don’t pass this place up! If you’re looking for a spot indoors or out you will find it here. Live music plays outside and pet peeve (the dog) sits at the bar. The whole place is lit by Christmas lights and the streets near by are surrounded by old oak trees. Thanks Chris & Donielle for taking me here!

Very quiet local dive bar. Great prices, very polite staff, and the scenery was great with there two 100+ year old oak trees. Definitely impressive to see and enjoy a cold beverage under their canopy.
