    The best experiance in harar is feeding a wild spotted hayna at the evening.

    Absolutely incredible! We were advised to come to this hyena feeding spot as the hyenas have been coming here more over the past week or so than the eastern spot. Our hotel guide arranged a tuk tuk (200birr return for 3 people) and we were picked up at 7.30pm. We only had to wait about 10-15mins at the spot til the first hyena turned up. They are such incredible creatures! We fed them from sticks in our mouths then the hyena man dangled a piece of meat above your head so they half jump on you to get to it. You can also pat them whilst they eat out of his bucket. As mentioned in other reviews, there are a bunch of cats who come for the feeding too and the hyenas are not even bothered by them. We even caught a video of a cat swatting away at the hyenas nose and it didn’t react. Truly amazing experience that you just can’t miss!

    A really special experience (unlike at the East Gate where the ‘hyena men’ were nasty and there was very limited opportunity to feed the hyenas myself).

    I walk their on my own from the walled city at sunset. The hyena man came around 7pm and two hyenas came shortly after. Paid 400birr to feed and was able to take pictures. The feeding was relatevily quick, maybe 15-20min, but everyone willing got a chance to feed the hyenas. Great experience. Not sure if more hyenas come later at night.
