Strong wifi, shower with warm water, affordable price(dormitory is 12USD) and nice stuffs. As for stuffs, I couldn't stop coughing at night and one of them(Ms. Noku) gave me hot tea and hot honey...that was very helpful.. I really appreciate her kindness.

Terrible parking area at this lodge. They accommodate more people without regard of the parking space. Was called at 21:00hrs to move my vehicle, again, the parking is sloppy and cars easily slip forward when you drive in (can easily cause wreckages and minor accidents in the yard). The room near the reception is susceptible to noise coming from people who sit around the reception chitchatting (in my case conversations went on till close to 10pm). Bathrooms did not have soaps, shower gels and mats. I was mostly disappointed by not having mats as this caused water splashes into the toilet area, considering that there was no readily available mop. Overall, it might be a great place but quite a number of issues need to be addressed, starting off with the parking.

Worst experience of any hotel I have stayed. I am travelling around the world from last 3 years been to almost 15 countries never had any experience like this. I stayed there for three nights. For first night I paid and for next two nights I told at reception that I am extending for two more nights. Then what happened that manager of the hotel came to me and said you should have told us for extend (in a rude way ) but I already told the receptionist that I am extending for two more nights but she didn't confirm with her and came directly to me and started behaving bad with me. Then for last night I was sleeping and it was raining for whole night ( who think that water gonna come inside the room ) but at night my whole room was flooded with water and my laptop was on the floor and my laptop stops working. In the morning when I woke up I was so stressed after seeing my laptop and both of my bag were also totally wet. I am a Youtuber and I have a lot of hard disk for storing my data all were wet. I don't mind if my cloths were wet I don't care at all. Then I called manager she was behaving like that It was my fault that I put my all the stuff on the floor. I lost around 1500 dollar because of that hotel and she said we can only compensate with two nights that you didn't pay if I would have paid that they would not do anything. Then she left the hotel in front of me and started laughing on me. WORST HOTEL EVER STAYED NEVER GO THAT

Small World Backpackers is one of the best accomodation spaces in Harare. It's conveniently located to the CBD and Avondale shopping centre, the place just has a fresh environment aura from the beautiful flowers all around. Modest accomodations rates, very affordable and fairly priced for the excellent service. For those who love cycling, bicycles are available for hire.

Affordable housing option for backpackers. Close to Avondale shopping area and in a generally nice looking neighborhood. I was there with a group and the private rooms were fairly nice. However, the rooms with a shared bathroom - there were 2 safety issues: the bathroom door did not lock and there was no lighting along the walkway (including the a small stairwell) in case you needed to use the bathroom at night. If you're in a room near the entrance you'll hear lots of street noise. The room I had booked wasn't cleaned after the previous guest so I had to get a new room.

Great place, not far from central Harare, close to Avondale Mall. Its a friendly backpacker with dorms, rooms, shared kitchen, pool and warm water. For campers with roof-top tent only the small parking lot is available, but there is some space to pitch a tent. Staff very helpful, they can organize tours and cabs, if needed. Camping is 10US pP, we switched to a small room for 25US. Good place to stay in town.

Not bad for a lodge, too quiet a place. No real human life/activity close by. Must get to the Avondale mall before you meet sign of life/major activity.

Good place to meet locals & other travellers. Camping available but I imagine the grass fills up quite quickly as there’s not a tremendous amount of space for campers. Kitchen available for self-catering but you can also order food for standard Harare prices. Sometimes it was a bit hard to find a staff member and there wasn’t anyone managing the bar area most of the time. Pool on sight and the wifi worked quite well for us during our entire stay. However, it kept logging us out every few minutes when our phones locked.

Cheap guesthouse in a quiet area. Guest kitchen was filthy; the fridge does not work properly and is so dirty that food safety is a real concern here. No mosquito nets in the rooms. Airport pickup was 20min late. Wifi is free and works well. Overpriced for what you get, but a good enough option for 1-2 nights as there arent so many budget hostels in Harare.

The room was very pleasant, it was cozy and clean. Breakfast was excellent and incredibly varied. The Lodge team has always been friendly, patient and helpful. That impressed me the most. No matter what time of day or night, you could turn to them with all your concerns. On my next stays, I will definitely check into "It's A Small World Backpackers Lodge" again.

Staff was not really friendly and used the complete kitchen the whole night. I did the reservation direct with them but i was twice not even in the system. The rooms are also quite expensive and they don't offer you the cheapest option. I looked for a dorm room and could find a room for my overnight date for only 7$.

It was just very average nothing to exactly get excited about, rooms are clean but sparse, you don't even get a television. Staff are friendly. They have a rule where you can not have alcohol in your rooms but they only offer you an overpriced and poorly stocked bar with very few options which i felt was a bit of a con. they have wifi but it is a little iffy and doesn't reach all their rooms. so if you are unfortunate you might end up in a room without any connectivity at all.

Room with private bathroom $50 is reasonable priced. Rooms with shared bathroom 35 are overpriced. Place is OK for travellers with own transport. For travellers without private transport is no any service; no restaurant no breakfast. Supermarkt 10 min. walk distance. No restaurant in direct surrounding

Dorm beds are clean and comfortable with torn bed linen in a spacious room with good ventilation.Shared toilets are old and clean but uncomfortable.Hot shower was working at only one place and wifi is slow and breaks often.Location is good in a silent area around 3kms from the centre but near to the shopping mall restaurants for food.Prices are reasonable at 12 USD with garden for relaxation and kitchen for cooking.

The coolest backpackers in Harare. If you have a couple of days between your flights, why not explore some of the cool day trips to be had around Harare. I highly recommend a trip to Dombashava.

We got to know it's a small world lodge because our trip around Zimbabwe was organized from Italy togheter with them. The two people travelling with us (Jackson and Melisa) were simply great: they took care of everything and managed all situations in an excellent way; we also had a great time together! During the trip we also stayed two nights at the hostel in Avondale Harare which is clean, confortable and cozy. Same goes for the hostel in Vumba. We absolutely reccomend the hostels and the company. Maita basa to you all!

Safe quiet place. Hot water was available for bathing. There is a kitchen for those who wish to cook. Affordable pricing. Just needs to be thorough in terms of general hygiene and maintenance of showers especially when the place is fully booked. Otherwise I do recommend the place. Will definitely go back

The place is okay, jus needs some improvements. The room service guys took time to respond. The curtains in the room which i slept were to small for the windows and someone could easily see me from the outside at night....All in all its nice and quite place which i can recommend and budget friendly too.

Upon arrival as I wanted to book a room had to wait for an hour until I was served in the dark. The rooms are fairly clean but lack any character. There was also no water available for showering or toilet use. Considering the price charged, it's well below standards even if Zimbabwe is going through economic challenges.

One of the best nice simple and worth while stay lodges in Harare. It's located in a quiet environment. The garden and nature there is really well done.

  • 2/5 Charlotte C. 4 years ago on Google
Really nice gardens and building design and some very nice staff but these were outweighed by negatives of poor maintenance and some rather curt staff who seemed to be annoyed that we complained when they double booked our room. Everything seemed to be broken or not working, nunerous requests were made to fix hot water, which was sorted on day 3 of our stay. Probably worth the price for a dorm room or cheaper double, but not for the higher priced double rooms.

  • 3/5 Randhir B. 8 years ago on Google
The rooms were clean and pleasant, though the bathroom could have been a bit more modern. The staff, while not unfriendly, seemed a bit curt and wasn't in a rush to help. I guess it's fine for when you're passing through like we were. (the other guests were awesome though, having a beer and a chat with them was a highlight of Harare)

Very clean, lots of space, and a cool deck on the roof. Not the most sociable hostel, but a great location in the suburbs of Harare. Great swimming pool and outdoor area to enjoy and relax. Highly recomended!

The place is filthy, worse with the rains everything smells rotten, poor maintenance the tap in my room was leaking. Towels and bedding very old and did not smell fresh. To make it worse plenty dogs and cats that go into the kitchen.

Overpriced for the location. The rooms were run-down, bathrooms had no hot water and were not clean at all. Lots of maintenance needs to be done e.g. they did not replace lightbulbs, no soap in bathrooms, no towels provided... Most importantly the staff was VERY rude. Do not recommend this hostel at all. Most other people we met that were staying there agreed with us. Find somewhere else!

The first two days there was no electricity. The toilet could not be used. The staff was very unfriendly and not helpful. In addition, you have to be careful that you are not stolen in the accommodation. This accommodation is in no way recommendable.

No problem with the hostel itself (apart from the bar having no beer) But please don't even consider doing a trip with their on-site travel guide. I unfortunately went from Harare to Vic Falls over 9 days with Garikay Oscar Makuyalt, after putting up with his arrogance and his constant belittling for the whole trip when it came to paying the agreed price he then wanted another 800 USD. Please avoid this con artist
