We
visited
Antelope
Park
for
two
nights
in
October
2022.
It
was
actually
our
second
time
there,
the
first
one
having
been
in
2008,
after
they
had
just
opened.
It’s
a
great
place
for
relaxation
in
beautiful
natural
surroundings
mixed
in
with
activities.
We
rented
the
Alert
Lodge,
which
is
a
two
bedroomed
self-catering
house
that
sleeps
six
people
and
has
two
bathrooms.
It
was
very
spacious,
cozy,
and
even
luxurious.
Everything
was
clean
and
in
great
working
order.
Getting
to
Antelope
Park
using
GPS
can
be
confusing
because
Google
suggests
a
dirt
road
that
is
no
longer
in
use.
Luckily,
the
park
staff
has
put
up
a
sign
that
says
that
it’s
the
wrong
road
and
the
correct
road
is
also
well
sign-posted
from
the
main
road.
When
we
checked
in,
we
were
assigned
a
guide,
Sam.
He
helped
us
get
into
our
lodge
and
presented
us
with
the
menu
of
activities
on
offer.
They
were:
• Elephant
interaction.
You
get
to
meet
three
elephants,
pat
them,
and
feed
them.
• Game
drive.
You
see
zebra,
impala,
wilder
beast,
and
giraffes,
and
all
manner
of
smaller
wildlife
like
monkeys,
birds,
and
monitor
lizards.
Duration
60-90
minutes.
• Visit
to
the
lion
enclosures.
There
were
63
lions
in
the
enclosures
at
the
time.
They
are
very
impressive,
even
though
they
tend
to
stare
at
you
like
you
were
their
dinner,
which
can
be
unnerving
despite
them
being
on
the
other
side
of
the
fence!
• Horse
back
safari.
You
ride
in
a
convoy
in
the
game
park
and
get
very
close
to
animals
such
as
the
zebra.
Duration
45
minutes.
• Horse
riding
lessons
with
an
experience
trainer.
Duration
45
minutes.
• Snake
induction.
There
is
a
small
snake
house
where
you
can
meet
all
the
snakes
that
are
found
in
the
wilderness
such
as
the
banded
cobra
and
the
black
mamba.
You
even
get
to
handle
a
small
python
who
was
very
friendly.
• Lion
feeding.
This
apparently
only
happens
on
the
weekends.
• Canoeing.
It
could
have
been
interesting
because
there
is
a
lovely
lake
with
plenty
of
birds,
but
this
time
it
was
so
overgrown
with
vegetation
that
there
wasn’t
much
room
left
for
canoeing!
The
staff
was
working
overtime,
however,
the
remove
the
water
plants.
We
did
all
the
activities
expect
the
last
two
and
they
were
great.
You
pay
for
the
activities
separately,
so
it’s
important
that
you
come
with
a
budget
to
cover
those
too.
A
good
ballpark
price
is
around
25
USD
per
head
per
activity
with
kids
under
12
years
paying
30-50%
less.
The
overall
atmosphere
in
the
park
is
great
and
the
staff
is
super
friendly.
If
you
want
meals
at
the
main
restaurant,
you
have
to
book
them
in
advance.
The
food
is
pretty
good,
and
at
least
for
us,
there
was
plenty
of
it.
There
is
also
the
option
of
eating
at
the
coffee
shop,
which
actually
makes
pretty
decent
burgers
and
all
kinds
of
snacks.
So
overall,
I
recommend
Antilope
Park
for
anyone
looking
for
a
relaxing
break
in
the
nature.
A
two-night
stay
is
probably
a
good
duration.
You
could
stay
longer
of
course,
but
at
that
point,
you
would
have
exhausted
all
the
activities.
