We took a tour with Sable Sands and had a wonderful time, seeing lions, zebra, giraffe, antelope and many others. Came home with amazing pictures, so take a good digital camera if you have one.

For a fair share of elephant bliss visit Hwange National Park. It's just elephants everywhere. There is also a variety of wildlife including all the big 5 and other small animals. If you want a true safari trip, go to Hwange

Warm weather, fresh air, friendly staff and a chance to see the big 5. Within a stone's throw from the Mosi oa Tunya, the majestic Vic Falls.

Beautiful national park in Zimbabwe. We took a week safari at two lodges and saw so many animals to include- Lions, leopard, giraffe, elephant, baboons, ostrich, kudu, wildebeest, impala, water buck, zebra, zonkey, steinbach, lilac breasted rollers and so many more I cannot add and count here. Get out there and enjoy for yourself. Cheers!

Best place in Southern Africa to watch animals in their natural inhabitants. Away from civilization and cacophony of the cities.

Another great day at Hwange National park. We saw a pride of 12 lions including Cubs and the Alfa Male lion. Our guide was super and showed us some fresh lion tracks which helped us to spot them in our game drive vehicle. It is raining season now so wear comfortable clothes and continue to spray yourselves with mosquito spray. We went on the 5.30am game drive and had good sightings of southern ground hornbills (a relative of Zazu) and amazing sightings of lions, giraffe, zebra, hippos and elephants. During the night we heard my favourite lullaby of spotted hyenas calling to each other. Magic and memories.

Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe, is home to various African wild animals and different birds. If you are lucky enough you can get to see Elephant herds, Lions, African wild dogs, Entelopes, Giraffes, Zebras, etc. and birds such as Eagles, Vultures, etc. One should be in the Park gates by 06.00 am early morning to get a best chance to view the wild life. As you delay towards noon, so does the chance decline. Or on can prefer to take an evening time slot after 4.00 pm. Water bodies are the best places for the visitors to get the best view of the animals that gather in large numbers to quench their thirst. Needs a lot of patience especially during summer to get a sight as the animals tend to hide under shade of trees and bushes. A guide can be lot helpful, who can charge about $30 per head depending on the season for foreign visitors. Getting down of the Safari vehicle, loitering in the grassland, feeding the animals is dangerous and strictly prohibited. Come prepared with a good HD camera, drinking water, little snack and light clothing to resist the heat !

Wonderful to see all the improvements being done on the roads. Sadly the drought has taken its toll on the elephants despite the pumping of the man made water holes. Sadly North Hwange there is still evidence of shooting for the pot. The game is still quite skittish here due to this.

Great wildlife reserve with lots of healthy animals. We stayed at main camp, the accomodations there were a bit lacking with no working showers, animal droppings in the houses and the look of past glory everywhere. Though the staff was very friendly and willing to help. So all in all, definitely worth the visit!

The Hwange National Park is quite the haven for nature lovers. All the big five animals are found in this reserve. The ZimParks lodges, though, leave a lot to be desired as the beds need to be replaced. The self-catering equipment works well and is adequate. Wild animals visit the lodges at night and it is not advisable to be walking after hours as an encounter with hyenas or elephants is more than likely. To see the cats, it is advisable to go deep into the reserve on less used roads as the cats are shy animals.

Hwange was disappointing this time round, the roads are so bad, we got stuck a few times, having to risk jumping out the car to push us out of certain areas, it was a very bumpy and shaky ride all the way. The only part that somehow made the trip was being able to see the animals at the watering hole, as the sun set, but then to jump back in the car onto a bumpy road again! please make sure you have good car when driving here.

One of the best experiences i have had safari wise. I am pretty much always in the Hwange National Park. Game is very nice and varied depending on which part and or side of the park you visit. Personally i have been to almost all parts amd have seen a lot of game from leopards, lions, buffaloes, elephants, roan antelope, sable, eland, a lot of birds even migratory or seasonal birds. I love thiis park

This was my first time To Hwange….wow! For an elephant lover and amateur wildlife photographer, I was blown away with the elephant population here! I am disappointed we didn’t have the time to explore the whole park as we were told it the changes throughout the park. We stayed at Ivory Lodge which we thoroughly enjoyed, but we’d probably go somewhere else next time just to see different parts. There are lots of accommodation options and the park staff were very friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be back!

I just came back. It was wonderful. Now I just saw on CNN they sold 20 baby elephants to China. This is the most shameful act you can imagine. Baby elephants learn everything from their mothers. They stay together as a family unit there whole lives. Shame on the park and the heartless Chinese. I’m done with this park forever.

A lovely retreat away from the heat and dust of Bulawayo city streets. The location on the side of a rocky hill (koppie) is very scenic. The rooms are nice, but sometimes, the showerhead is a bit blocked. The breakfast is good. The owners are always on site and ensure a very efficient and friendly service. They helped us with lifts and storing our baggage. Definitely a place you can relax that you will be taken care of.

It's a massive disappointment. The park charges so much money for entry for tourists however its shocking how bad the roads are everywhere. There aren't many animals, so don't even bother wasting your time. If you want value for money then go to zambezi safari Park. Hwange is an absolute waste of time. Dont bother.

  • 5/5 Holger S. 4 months ago on Google
Wild and pristine park - you might need some more determination to spot the animals you are looking for compared to the more developed parks. But where else can you observe a lioness with her cubs for an hour without any other persons or vehicles around?
