Fantastic historic structure. There is currently a non-profit group that is working to restore the theatre and they've doing great work. Built in 1929, it's worth a look. Not open in the summer but if you contact them you might get a tour.

If you have never been there, you must go. Whether for a live event or a movie, this is the place. I'm old enough to remember when a crew of volunteers were all that kept it from a premature death. It was fun going there, but there were compromises. Not any more! Now, with the latest renovations and additions (air conditioning; vastly improved sound; more, more, more bathroom space; beer, wine and liquor) it's a joy to go there.

Very great hidden gem in DeKalb. I love the Egyptian for a multitude of reasons! They have great beer supporting local breweries! Great snacks and the bathroom remodel looks fabulous! Can't wait to see what other renovations will be done! Great friendly staff!

Experienced a big screen showing of White Christmas in all the splendor it was originally meant to have. Absolutely beautifully renovated old theater built in 1929. Can't wait to see another movie there. It may not have the recliner seats in modern theaters, but they are very comfortable and it has all the best goodies at the concession stand, including adult libations.

Very cool little venue to see a show. Saw Think Floyd (Pink Floyd tribute band) here recently. Sounded good and the beers weren't overpriced. The seats weren't all that comfortable, but I still enjoyed myself.

We rented the building for a paranormal investigation. The guide told the stories and showed us around. Then he let us be. We spent the next few hours investigating. We got some great EVPs and video! This is a beautiful place and we will return.

Saw Penn & Teller Presents The Foolers. Fun show! The theatre is what we came for. So very cool. Nothing like it for thousands of miles! Highly recommend seeing a show here.

Beautiful exterior and interior! Feel of old time theatre with modern amenities. The show we saw was terrible however, Girls Night Out was a disappointment. Sad story line, subpar acting/singing, did not energize the audience like it could have. I've seen other shows here and they are usually good.

The Egyptian Theater is a lovelt non-profit that puts on shows, comedy acts and many other artistic performances. They have a good refreshment selection in the lobby and it is a very cozy place. They recently added air conditioning and an expansion to the seats. Overall it is a fun place to go to see a show!

Architecture is great! It is an old building with tons of character. It can get very warm inside on hot days, so keep that in mind when you plan on going. Views of stage a good from just about anywhere you sit. Acoustics are ok, but once again it's an old building. Staff is friendly and finding parking was easy and close by.

This doesn't compare to the Egyptian theater in Los Angeles. It's weird how narrow it is, like the times square building in New York. The same architect built the hub theater, which is a dump. The only reason it is rated so highly is because everyone in the area lives a sheltered life, and has never seen anything else.

My experience is merely from a far, the UK however over recent days, the cinema was brought to my attention having viewed a short video of the recent performance of White Christmas and to see the presentation at the end and then the screen curtain closing, brought back memories of my days as projectionist in several Art Deco cinemas here in the Uk. I have since been in contact with one of the projectionists at the Egyptian and find not only is he a young guy, he can run a show using changeover reels and carbon arc rods. Clearly a very talented lad. I’m very envious of his job and of your beautiful movie theatre, long may it last. Who knows, my next visit to America might be able to include a visit to Illinois.

Because of the smaller footprint, be ready for an engaging experience at a historic venue. Smiling faces, quick service, reasonable prices. We’ll be back!

This historic site was amazing. Attended a body building competition. The concession stand had plenty to choose from. The restrooms were fabulous. Great customer service from the ticket booth to finding our seats.

The Doors were Locked but have Seen Pics of the Restored Interior! Outstanding! I was amazed by the outside Architecture! Better than New! Grew up in DeKalb, it was the Hub of Entertainment. Definitely Deserves the Restoration! Fantastic!

Wow! The Epyptian Theater is such a fantastic experience. It is a vintage theater that is renovated and rare. It is amazing. You must go. It's acoustics are outstanding and there is no bad seating. The bathrooms are large with no waiting even with a full house. There is nowhere else to go for this experience. When so many thing are so plain, the Eyptian is not. It's a masterpiece. The Christmas decorations are above and beyond. The entire downtown DeKalb is absolutely gorgeous especially at Christmas. Lights and joy abound. There are Christmas lights surrounding the area and old fashion town decorations you enter. You step into a Christmas experience. There is even a little Chocolate Shoppe with other types of candies next to the Eyptian Theater. You can catch them making chocolates if you come at the right time. DeKalb's Main Street has so much to explore with many 5 star little restaurants and shops of every sort from clothing to unique items. The Eyptian Theater is a must do on a monthly basis. There are so many unique productions that book there. Tickets are reasonable and the popcorn is really yummy. The best show that I have ever saw, is the Beth Fowler School of Dance production of the Nutcracker. This is another must do. All of her productions are completely wonderful. You will have a long list of things you love when you explore all Eyptian Theater has going on throughout the year. We are lucky so many talented people put this theater at our fingertips to enjoy. There is nothing like it for it's quaint entertaining experience. And do lunch or dinner on Main St for your for a total special treat.

The dance company my daughter belongs to has their showcase here so I’ve been to this theater multiple times. All seats are good as far as seeing everything on stage. However, seats are small, floors were sticky.

First time going to this theater. My family attended a magic show. Experience was a good one. I felt ticket price was reasonable and the theater was a nice place to watch the show. Will be going back.

Great high quality theatre. Popcorn is quite expensive though, and there are no refills. Quick heads up to people wanting to purchase any concessions there.

A beautiful venue and very clean. Lots of bathroom facilities for women & very clean. Security is always present and does not tolerate dumb stuff. We love the shows they have in a safe envirement.

Went for my son's art display event. They smartly had the popcorn machine going full steam ahead. (Thanks..........) But had drinks and such as well. Beautiful historic theater downtown. I wish parking was more accessible, but it's not a dealbreaker.
