Food was amazing. First time there. My wife and I were craving jibaritos and we usually go around humbolt park restaurants for PR food. This time we found one closer since we live south and I don’t regret going here. Food was fresh, rice was on point, jibaritos were as good as the other restaurants we’ve been to. Atmosphere was great as well as the music. Can’t complain. We will be back again. My kids liked the food too.

Food was descent. Not like our PR family cooking. Some meat was overcooked and not enough beans for the rice. We did appreciate it since we do not have any PR food near our home. The server was friendly and patient.

They had music playing when we walked in. They even had a pool table in what looked like an enclosed patio area.I enjoyed every last bite. Nothing was too salty or overcooked. The prices were fair, the service was good. I loved that they're Cubs fans too!!

The food was great, it did take alot longer then expected to get out food being that we were almost the only ones left in the restaurant. Once we received our orders the food was great. My chicken was nice and crunchy and the fried bananas tasted pretty good. The relleno de papa could have been better also well. The other thing the music playing was way too loud we had to yell at one point to to hear each other.

I’ve been a loyal customer here ever since I moved into the area. Lately, the service & food hasn’t been the best. But I was extremely disappointed with my last visit after the waitress who seemed confused just by me walking in, was extremely rude to me. I decided to brush it off and go home and enjoy my food to open it and see this. My rice was packed and squished on top of my jibarito. And before y’all come in here responding to my review, no I wasn’t driving crazy. As I literally live right across the train tracks! My ride home is about 30 seconds if that. So to also have my jibarito and rice COLD was definitely the cherry on top. I sent on message on fb immediately after and have yet to recieve w response. If I could give zero stars, I would. I will say, thank you to the young gentlemen who works here who has acrylic nails. Excellent customer service. Just about the only thing keeping this place afloat.

I stumbled across this GEM by accident & I'm so grateful that I did! The BEST food we ever had, & huge portions too. This place uses fresh, quality ingredients. I would give them 10 stars if I could. Please give them a try, you will be amazed with their authentic cooking, better than any restaurant in Humboldt Park/Division Street.

Not terrible, but also not the best. It is located across from Melrose Park police station. There is a few parking spots in front or you have to try to find street parking on the side. This is the only PR option in the area. Inside is casual and relaxing. The ambiance is like a sports bar, even has custom Chicago Cubs theme seats and a section dedicated specifically for the cubs. They have a full bar and it looked like on their patio they had a pool table. It is a little bit smaller, even the bathroom is small and it is shared. The service was good, our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She let me try a sample of jugo de parcha since it was my first time and it was so tasty! They do have reasonable pricing too and a good size menu with a variety of different options for breakfast or lunch. It was nice each table had a picture stand of the different food options. The wood piece the food is plated on was beautiful and a great touch for presentation. The food lacked a little bit of flavor besides the rice. The rice was absolutely delicious! The plantain for the jibarito during my visit was soggy/soft instead of crispy. I know each place makes it different, but if they could have cooked it a little longer it would have been better.

First of all I am not Puerto Rican but this food did not taste right. The rice had a slight burnt taste, the lechons only taste was lard. Also tried the stuff potato and it had a sour taste to it. The place could use a paint job the black walls do nothing for the place. The windows need to be cleaned, take the stuff off, let some light in its a restaurant people should be able to see inside and be enticed to try it. Would consider giving it another try if they made slight changes. Despite this the service was good and its the only reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 2.

Our server was the nicest, young man, wish I'd have gotten his name. The food was delicious. 😋 We had the chuletas fritas and the bistec encebolláo, both with arroz con gandules and maduros. Also tried the mofongo, which can be hit or miss, but theirs was so moist and tasty! We'll be back to try other dishes and with friends! 🇵🇷 Oh yeah! It's cash only - at least it was during our visit! There is an ATM on-site.

1st time ordering from this restaurant I live nearby so I figured I would try it out I ordered take out, tostones and a steak jibarito with arroz con gandules didn’t care much for the rice no taste the jibarito on the other hand was delicious the tostones were super oily wasn’t expecting that they were not strained properly or patted to remove excessive oil, I was a bit disappointed ☹️

The ambiance of the restaurant was inviting and comfortable, creating a pleasant atmosphere to enjoy the fantastic meal. I recommend this restaurant to all food enthusiasts seeking a memorable dining experience esp. those who love jibaritos as much as I do. The only reason I’m giving this 4 stars is due to the relleno de papa tasting spoiled. Aside from that, the combination of delicious food and friendly service makes it an absolute gem.

The jibarito was really good. But.. the habichuelas were not good and I've never really had bad habichuelas. It tasted like water. Like the ingredients were there but they didn't cook them together. Everything else was good sandwich, atmosphere. But bad habicheulas is like a big red flag for me. Cant go back. Hope they fix that.

The food was delicious, I cook my own Puerto Rican food, however I was feeling lazy and ordered from here. It was an incredible surprise how good their food was. I called in my order because I was strapped for time and then got stuck at the train tracks. Afyrr some time they actually called me back to see if I was close in order not to serve me cold food. I was impressed how they paid attention to the freshness of my order. Needless to say I'm going to be a regular here.

As an Asian person, I literally devour their food. I ordered a steak Jibarito and it was on point. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly to a point where he helped us understand each item on the menu. I will definitely be visiting again. Also, if you're a celiac (Gluten Free), you have lots of options :)

Food was excellent, good portions, well seasoned. They don't take credit cards. Definitely will eat here again.

Nice place, friendly waiter, cute platters… but everyone in the restaurant that was there including my group was all getting their food separately. You should prepare the food so each table gets their food at the same time, not everyone else at the table waiting ten minutes while one person has their food. Also, I ordered white rice and beans. The beans had no flavor. They barely had any jugito. I don’t even think they use tomato sauce in the beans. They were horrible. Even the little bit of jugito they did have was very watery, they should be saucy…ruined the white rice. The jibarito was good. A bit more expensive than PR restaurants in the city but understandable because the area may not attract as many people. Work on your bean recipe and you should be ok.

I accidentally came across this blessing looking for some coffee after drinking all night 🥴 Now I am from Humboldt park, born and raised, and I have to say they are neck to neck maybe even better 😬🤫 than my favorite puerto rican restaurants in Humboldt park. The food is fresh and hot, flavourful, mouth watering, with a BEAUTIFUL presentation 🥰 I can't wait to go back and make this a regular spot!

First time here today. Totally worth eating here. The place is warm cozy and nice people. The food is fresh and hot. And also the prices are totally fair. I will be having more dinners here more often since there isn’t a whole lot of puerto rican restaurants in the area. Thank you guys for the delicious food. Totally recommend this place 💯 percent.

Well my husband did not enjoy his food, but mine was delicious. I had the jibarito and it was fire, he had his food on a torta, so I think that was his issue. I loved all the decorations they have and the service was good as well. I'd go back.

Fresh food and delicious. Our first time before heading home to Iowa City. I got the BEST service in the world and the employees went far and beyond to please their customers. I will definitely come back. Thanks, Alex.
