Unfortunately,
the
hotel
is
anything
but
modern.
Though
the
owner,
manager
and
staff
have
somehow
managed
to
build
a
hotel
in
the
middle
of
south
Delhi,
but
have
been
unable
to
move
past
their
backward
thinking.
Purportedly,
the
hotel
has
a
policy
of
no
visitors.
For
one,
the
arbitrariness
of
this
policy
is
good
enough
to
not
stay
here.
Which
hotel
does
not
allow
guests
of
a
person
staying
at
the
hotel
to
visit
their
room?
On
further
push,
it
appears
that
the
policy
is
when
women
from
abroad
(foreigners
as
they
like
to
call
it)
stay
at
the
hotel.
Apparently,
men
cannot
have
women
as
friends,
especially
when
they
are
"foreigners".
They
feel
that
something
shady
may
go
on
in
the
room,
which
even
if
the
person
staying
at
the
hotel
comes
down
to
address
and
confirm
that
the
person
visiting
is
a
friend,
does
little
to
alleviate
their
so-called
concerns.
They
somehow
feel
it
is
okay
for
the
person
to
meet
the
"foreigner"
friend
in
the
lobby
under
the
eyes
of
the
staff.
This,
they
feel,
ensures
the
safety
of
their
"culture".
It
is
truly
shocking
that
in
Delhi,
of
all
places,
which
is
a
hub
of
tourism
and
the
capital
of
the
country,
hotel
managers
still
feel
that
it
is
okay
(and
their
right)
to
demand
that
a
man
not
meet
his
friends
in
their
room,
especially
when
they
are
of
the
opposite
sex.
If
you
feel
this
aligns
with
your
thought,
please
stay
at
this
hotel.
Otherwise,
do
yourself
a
favour
and
not
give
a
second
look
at
it.
To
add
it,
as
my
friends
staying
tell
me,
the
beds
are
dirty
and
the
only
response
of
the
staff
is
to
cover
it
with
a
bedsheets;
not
to
clean.
Wonder
where
we
get
that
from?
