Food was great, decent presentation, but quite pricey. Customer satisfaction is NOT a priority. Apparently they don’t accept the entertainment book voucher anymore even though it’s still in the app (they seem to have their own issue going on with them). Because of that we ended up an extra $20 out of pocket. No attempt to help the situation or even apologize, just straight up making me pay for something that’s their issue. We won’t back.

This beautiful place never disappoints. We would like to be able to go more frequently. Today on our anniversary, we ate very well. The service, as always, is excellent. Will the owner be the one who takes the orders? I don't know, but she is excellent, and I wish more places had service and quality like this place: efficient, fast, friendly, and everything delicious.

What can we say... they totally deserve the award... we love the Kingfish Don. Have tried to recreate it back home but with no success. The chicken karaage is very well marinated and fried to perfection. Tempura is to die for... a wonderful dinner for our wedding anniversary.

Had dinner here and the food was delicious. Had the Aburi Salmon Don, the pork Gyoza and matcha gelato. Highly recommend it. It wasn’t too busy when we were there on a Saturday evening and the service was very good. Staff were very attentive and kept refilling the water. Would be back there again soon!

Hands down, the best pork Katsu don in Adelaide! We started with chicken karaage and miso for entrees and they were fantastic! The Katsu don was served piping hot with the right sweetness in the onions as well as the egg cooked perfectly on top

tempura marketed as made by a master using highly trained methods… however was very disappointed. Seemed like it was more amateur chefs cooking. Batter was dense and the ingredients used for the tempura wasn’t that tasty at all. Oil needed changing. The sauce served with the tempura and soba was tasteless. Soba was very ordinary (I can do a better job at home). The only saving grace was the aburi salmon don… however even the rice wasn’t cooked quite right… decent price at a glance but quality was nowhere near. food overall was worse than some food court places. Won’t be back.

Walked past this store and saw all the awards the Japanese store has won therefore wanted to try this out. Tempura was done perfectly, probably the best Ive had in Australia so far. Katsudon was good, didnt expect it to be amazing but it was still tasty! Recommend the lobster and oyster tempura

What a great surprise to find this place. Perfect atmosphere, perfect service, perfect food... it really is a very good place and we will definitely return. I read some recent reviews and I honestly don't understand them, the service is excellent: they greet you, they take you to your table, they give you time to choose your food, they take your order, they bring your food to you, then when you're done you go to the cashier, You pay and they say thank you in Japanese. What else do you want? As a consumer, for me this type of service is the best, efficient.

Excellent Service! The food, presentation, ambiance and customer service were outstanding. The Akimitsu Deluxe Tempura is undoubtedly the best item on the entire menu. The lobster tail, oysters and prawns were incredible. The Japanese décor was quite a sight to see. The fast delivery deserves all the praise it can get. Highly recommended, especially for those who adore Japanese cuisine.

Been there first time three years ago, great food but they were so busy for dinner time. Went there last Sunday around 2:15pm(their midday break starts at 3:00pm). I had prawn tempura set(without rice) and my partner had oyakodon(Chicken+egg"family?" rice bowl.) Not too crowded. Fantastic food. Went there for lunch sometime this week again. Had Zuru Soba+tempura set. I believe they even serve different sauces for Soba and tempura which not many restaurants prepare them separately (well, please correct me if they indeed are the same sauce.) Too long for a review, but if you are ordering, go for the tempura set(personally I prefer the prawn set than the lobster set.) Authentic Japanese flavour as they advertise themselves. Ohoh please give the lychee cider a try. Sweet and refreshing.

Went looking for good tempura restaurant. Tempura was good. Bite size pieces of seafood and veg were cut well as to get even coating of batter and veg had good consistency under the batter. Seafood was fresh. Light crunchy batter and the tsuyu was served with daikon puree (legit). The vegetable gyoza were KBs brand frozen. This would be acceptable if we didn’t pay as much as we did for them and they were cooked better than how we cook them at home. My favourite traditional Japanese meal is unadon. 3 out of 5. Portion size is small for the price and was a bit ‘chewier’ than i like it. The glaze was tasty. We really enjoyed the agedashi dofu. Japanese beer choices were really good. The Premium malts and koshihikari hit the spot and they serve their umeshu with salty plum. Service was friendly

I came here with a friend who was allergic to eggs and was immensely satisfied and grateful for the patience and kindness of the staff as they catered to his allergies. Despite our odd requests (a boiled egg), the service staff patiently consulted with our group. When the food arrived, the broth was flavourful and the fish cake delicious, and even though my friend's food arrived with mayonnaise containing egg, the staff willingly changed his dish without complaint. Truly worth coming here if you want amazing service, delicious food and a lively atmosphere accentuated by great staff.

Dined here several times and it was mostly an enjoyable experience. It is a Japanese restaurant that specialise in tempura but also serve other dishes including rice bowls with toppings such as aburi salmon, steak and chicken/pork katsu. When cooked perfectly, the tempura is light and crisp, however there are times when the tempura was overcooked. They also have lobster tail tempura which is rare to find elsewhere. Tried the pork katsu don once and the meat was very tough and chewy. Overall one of the better places for tempura in Adelaide.

An authentic taste and eating experience in the middle of Adelaide. Very nice and cozy place, feeling tidy and neat eventho the atmostphere is small and narrow. Tempura is a must try here as it is so perfectly fried! Don and Udon is delicatedly presented with the decoration and the attention in the detail of the taste and the freshness of the ingredients! Very happy!

We enjoy the vegetable tempura and prawn tempura. Will not probably order the lobster tempura anymore because we enjoy the prawn tempura better and much flavour than the lobster. Nice ambience and clean inside.

Went here to have dinner before we attended a mini concert at Hindley street. Food was really good and staff are nice. Their table turn around seemed to be quick especially when it’s busy. It’s alright though as the place is not that big so you might feel like you have to give way to ppl waiting to be seated. All in all it was a good experience 😊

I have mixed feelings about this Japanese restaurant where my son and I had lunch recently on a Sunday. Some dishes were good like the Yakitori Chicken Skewers and the Miso soup, others were average like the Karaage Don which had some chicken pieces undercooked. But with other dishes the chef seems to have been lazy and taken shortcuts. For example my Chashu Don which is described in the Menu as “flame-seared slow-cooked pork belly” was served with bacon rashers. (See photo) And the Asakusa Tempura which is described as “Oyster, prawn, seasonal fish and vegetables” was served without any oyster or seasonal fish. (See photo) This is absolutely not acceptable. And there is a 10% surcharge on Sundays. We found the service was friendly. But overall I would recommend avoiding this restaurant unless you want to take a chance with their ‘hit and miss’ approach.

Lovely staff who were very patient with the table near us who had a LOT of requests. My meal was delicious, great flavour and well cooked. My husband said his food was ok but when he tried mine he had regrets he didn't order the same, stating his was a bit bland. Overall it was really nice and we definitely would go back!

I somehow walked past this restaurant for years and never checked it out. Had a lovely dinner here early in the evening which (opening time basically) meant we had the place mostly to ourselves. Service was attentive and it was nice to not feel pressured to order quickly. I loved my eel rice bowl and the egg was perfectly done.

The King Fish Don (grilled King Fish, rice and a runny egg) from this place tasted pretty good. Service was very fast, considering the place was busy when I was there.

Cost and very clean restaurant. Great value for what you get and the quality of the food is top notch. It’s a bit noisy and the staff a little busy to be too attentive. Will be back, had a good meal.

Akimitsu Australia in Henley Street is the pioneer Japanese Franchised Eatery in Australia. Desmond and his Partner Sandra are the Co-Founders of the Australia sector. Dinner was amazing! Congrats to Desmond! Special mentioning their Gyoza, Tempura batter in general and the most of all Aburi King Fish, Love them. The balancing the the favour is on point. The batter is light and fluffy and not oily at all. Well balanced! The perfection in the Aburi King Fish preparation is top knot. Cleanliness is superb. Service is wonderful! Garnishing is well dressed. Nothing more I can say, except “Amazine”. I would even give an International Standard of a 3 Stars Restaurant. 👍

Honestly one of the best meals I’ve ever eaten, sent me straight into a food coma. The flavours were spot on and the ingredients were very high quality. The price is amazing for the amount of food you get, Recommending this to all my friends! My favourites: karaage chicken over rice, the steak over rice and the salmon. SOOO DELICIOUS 😍

Karaage chicken was good. However I was quite disappointed to find a long black hair (definitely not mine) in my steak don dish. Wasn't able to simply request a replacement as I ordered delivery.

Superlicious tempura. We had the set for 2 and it comes with rice, miso soup and pickled cucumber each.

Had the prawn tempura don with other seafood and vegetables. The prawn was not small at all and the crunch of the batter was just right. The other seafood included oyster, salmon and another type of fish which was all cooked really well. The ingredients were fresh and overall the meal was really worth it.
