I found a new favourite spot for yum cha in Adelaide at Chef Dong. It’s a quiet, suburban restaurant that you could easily drive pass but make an effort to drop in for brunch on the weekend. Piping hot plates served as you order from the menu. Fresh fillings and ingredients make you keep ordering more. Friendly service and decently priced

Been coming here for many years. Good service, thou Peking duck is quite expensive compared to the olden days. $60 for 2 course peking duck, obviously the 1st being peking ducks with pancakes and the 2nd I chose noodle, well there were hardly any meat in the noodle dish😥.

Ordered via uber eats 3 mains and 2 soups came in tiny containers and only half filled and cost $84. Beef satays came cold and chewy, inedible. Soups had no flavour other than thickner. I have been to chef dong many times and have enjoyed but this was disgusting. Unlikely to return.

Great Chinese restaurant, tables were tightly packed and full, staff were turning people away lining up outside who hadn’t booked on a busy Sunday afternoon. Parking out front is limited but there’s plenty of spots on St Peter’s street with a larger car park behind too. The banquet was excellent, good serving sizes and great to share with friends. There were lobsters fresh on display in their tanks too.

Visited the restaurant with my friends. The food is alright but did attract a decent number of people. Service is considered good and the staff speak to you with respect. I think may not be the chef's day today or just the wrong dish ordered. Location is good and cleanliness of restaurant is also great. The tea is proper good, get it. Would be able to recommend but not the best location for Chinese option.

Sensational authentic Chinese food with reasonable price! It literally made me nostalgic and homesick😂 The shallot pancake is honestly THE BEST and better than that of ANY other Chinese restaurants in Adelaide. The white bait fish was a dish I only had when I was a child. Chicken in chili oil 口水鸡 was great too, with rich and abundant numbing sensation from the flower pepper. Everything is just fantastic!

Been here twice in 2 months - truly fantastic restaurant. The cooking is so fresh and delicious that I have been impressed I am eating such good quality Chinese food in the suburbs of Adelaide. Even on ridiculously busy nights, the service is timely. I cannot rave enough about how wonderful the Chef Dong Fried Rice is and how amazing the Taiwanese Three Cup Chicken is - definitely recommend everyone trying these dishes and I am certainly going to have them again when I come back!

Chef Dong must be something of a secret, (known only to the cognoscenti :) We wanted a light lunch and chose the steamed dumplings (two prawn versions and duck). They were delicious! Also jasmine tea and steamed greens. Waiters were courteous without being intrusive. Around $25 per person. Not bad if you don't want fast Chinese food and an intimate, take your time, experience. For those who want the upgrade to abalone and lobster and have the wallets to sustain those options, they are able to accommodate your desires too!

I was in a rush and needed something quick and tasty, ordered fried rice extra chicken, delicious 😋. Plenty of shredded chicken as asked, fresh ingredients-no reheats here. 👍

We had a great lunch. Authentic cuisine. You can't not have the stuffed eggplant - it's a must. Try the Durian pastries afterwards if you're adventurous - not for everyone tho

Dim sims were passable but authentic. We had a nice reunion lunch here and it was long chat slightly past the closing time of 2 30pm. The manager there was nice to let us carry on. Price was reasonable.

Food was delicious - I had a melt-in-your-mouth pork hotpot, a lovely soup and dumplings. Price was very reasonable

Amazing food by Chef Dong! We tried the Shandong Chicken and Fuzhou Fish Meatballs which were delicious. Recommend for a family night out!

Have tried dishes like roasted duck, salt and pepper prawn, fish fillets. All of them are really nice. Today we tried Salted egg with jumbo prawn which is more expensive than other dishes. It is not worth at all. Prawns are so small and taste is not good. Some of them also not fresh. Roasted duck tastes great but this time, we found hairs as shown in photo. Although tried to call the restaurant for feedback, no one responded.

Have had food before from here which has been amazing. This time however was disappointing. Dumplings were great, but beef was some of the toughest I have eaten. And on what planet do I pay $8.95 delivery fee to have to walk across the road to get my food because the delivery driver is too lazy to get out of his car ???!!!

Rather quiet today so the service was much better. Dimsum has been consistently good, but noticeably smaller now. Wantan Beef Noodles were rather good,

Great food, excellent vibe and lovely staff. Ordered the banquet and were pleasantly surprised by the quality and quantity of food we received. The best bit was when they gave us the chocolate, caramel and strawberry toppings for our fried ice cream. Certainly a great establishment!

Quality of their yumcha is digusting, food not fresh, tasted stale and salt thrown over the dishes. Chef smokes outside, coughs his lungs out, walks straight into the kitchen and starts to cook. No alcohol gel, no washing of his hands. I was observing this thru the glass window from where I was sitting which you can look into the kitchen. Don't mind paying the price for Quality of food, but sadly to say... its not this place. The health inspector may need to take a visit there... am sure they may find it interesting.

i ve ordered take away from them many times, i think their food quality is good, but the quantity was inconsistant. sometimes i receive smaller portion but didnt bother leave a review. this time I ordered uber eats, ordered half roast duck, didnt come half roast duck, only came "ODD duck pieces." no duck brest nor duck leg, only odd pieces, i reckon they use whatever left over assemble them in a box then send out wth delivery driver, which means customer not in the shops cant make complaint, by the time i received my order, i cant be bothered to ring them to complain, i just think be its doggy do business like that. i think its time for me to try other chinese takeaways

Prawns were large, sauce superb and spicy; Sizzling Mongolian Beef was a generous serve of tender, tasty beef. Rice fluffy and Special fried rice deserves a particular mention - delicious. Ordered easily over the phone, staff very helpful. Picked up in 10minutes so service excellent & prompt.

Recommended to book first. Without booking you have to wait before a table is available. Delicious yum cha, lots of varieties. Like the spicy chicken feet, tripe, rice in lotus leaf, salt pepper squid tentacles and rice roll. Steamed dumplings are good but the fried stuffs are a bit oily. The crispy duck with pancakes was crispy but too dry. We ordered too much and had leftovers to takeaway. Service was good. Food came out real quick.

I sat-here for 55 minute’s waiting for my takeaway They told me I should say a number not my name. I sat there why everyone looked at me. I asked me four times what my name was I said could you please make it again they said no. It was my fault because I did not say the number, I didn’t know that you had to say the number on your receipt not my name, but no one asked me that I asked for different people where my order was, but obviously they were way more interested in the Uber drivers then people giving them money, direct I got home it was all freezing cold. I had to put it in the pan One of the worst experiences for a Friday night take out
