It's a dessert place that my friend highly recommended so we came here for dinner after a brunch earlier in the day. We were one of the first ones to arrive right after it's opening time so we got to choose where we wanted to sit. We went for the tatami area close to the window. Waitress was nice all the way from when she greeted us at the door to when we paid for our meal. We went for the matcha lava cake with black sesame ice cream and the houjicha affogato. The former was absolutely delightful, the texture of the exterior of the cake was soft and fluffy and as soon as we cut through the matcha filling came oozing out with a rich flavour which we both really enjoyed. It also went very well with the ice cream but we suspected that they gave us some kind of berry ice cream instead as it did not taste like black sesame in any kind of way. The houjicha affogato on the other hand, was so bad. I do not recommend this item in the menu, please don't order. The houjicha tea was so poor and lacked in the actual tea flavour and it came lukewarm so we were quite disappointed. Ice cream was alright, nothing outstanding. We weren't quite sure what we were eating there as it was so underwhelming, it's this dessert that dragged the food rating down from a 4 to a 3.

The shop is very Japanese vibe. I appreciate the staffs being friendly, polite and how respectful they are. The food is so good! The matcha latte is not so strong, which is very nice & it is frothy, same with the hot chocolate. Their matcha waffle is heaven! It is a must try. Meanwhile, their matcha lava cake is the bomb. You guys should try. I’m not even joking. Everything is freshly made. The waiting period is not that long, too. They also have detox tea, I bought the Liver Detox and Digestion. It’s good. Overall, this place is highly recommended. Try and visit! Keep it up Matcha House! Arigatou :)

Desserts taste good. Sweetness is just nice. Staff are lovely. Hard floor seating however not that comfy even with the cushion but I don't mind it. We had a great time there. Love the créme brûlée and lava cake. Matcha yogurt quite nice as well.

Best lava cakes here. Always so runny when you cut into it. Original Japanese teas are used and that's what makes the flavours stand out. Matcha and hojicha latte are thick and yummy. They have a variety of hot teas as well, which are quite fragrant. Bit pricey overall.. We also get to choose to sit on the floor, like Japanese style or sit on chairs.. It gets quite uncomfortable sitting on the floor after a while.. There's a minimum of one order per person.

Wide variety of matcha items, as well as other teas and desserts. 1 item per person with no discretion for variation depending on circumstances is a bit ridiculous, especially considering how steep the prices are. Most expensive tea I’ve ever purchased in my life. It was nice, but not worth that much. Particularly also giving the attitude received from staff. As a group we ended up spending more here than on our dinner out… based on the prices alone we wouldn’t come back here.

Best dessert place in Adelaide for me :) Friendly service. Serving desserts that just make you wanna close your eyes and enjoy and appreciate the strong, delicious flavour slowly. Good place to hangout with friends and family.

I will give 5 stars for this place as it was an amazing nite for me and my friends. The dessert was awesome. Am not gonna lie, its yummy, the matcha creeme brulle, the lava cake and the queen durian 10/10, i finish it all. Also the drink was really good. I know most of the review said bad service, for me it was 4/5 yes they need to be more friendly to their customer when servce or when talk, its just need little smile to welcome the customer but anyway the food was really good so we will be back again. And yes you can either sit on the floor or on the table, they have 2 option for the sitting

Surprisingly really good. We went without booking on a weekend and still managed to get a seating. Authentic Japanese way of seating which I found really cute too. Menu is decent, some variety to it. Although pricing was a bit more expensive than imagined. I really enjoyed my choice of the matcha drink and dessert. Quality matcha :) Didn’t taste too bland or too foreign Would come back to try other desserts but I enjoyed their drink/icecream menu more

The most authentic Japanese desserts their parfait is spot on. They also offer ceremonial matcha served the traditional way. I opted for the floor seating where you kneel. It is a very nice atmosphere for a date. It is a bit more expensive but still a reasonable price for a dessert place. They get quite busy so it is asked that you stay for only 1 hour, which is still plenty of time to enjoy this lovely spot. Also toilets were clean.

Great matcha dessert place that opens till late. Has a wide variety of teas and variations of matcha desserts. Has a Japanese vibe with both normal and traditional seating where you sit on tatami mats. Pictured: matcha lava cake/panna cotta/creme brulee

Matcha house is a Japanese tea house which only opens at night serving a range of Japanese tea served in teapot, hot and cold matcha drinks, desserts as well as a seasonal special menu. Been here several times and tried a number of their matcha desserts. The go to are definitely the matcha lava cake with a melty strong matcha filling and the waffles which was soft and light with a subtle matcha flavour, toasted with a slight crisp. Matcha and houjicha ice cream tasted pretty good; tea flavours are on the milder side. There are limited number of table seats with chairs, the main dining area have low tables on a traditional floor board platform where you take your shoes off and seat on the floor with the cushion. Overall tasty matcha desserts; would recommend dining early as it gets very busy later at night and orders can take a while especially if you order the lava cakes which takes a minimum of 20 minutes.

The store was quite empty as we were there at 7.15, however, the store became busier soon after. The desserts were amazing, and the service was good. The store has a traditional seating area and a regular seating area. They did add new items to their menu- not that good so just stick to the old one.

The whole store and atmosphere is so beautiful and soothing to be in. The servers are very kind and friendly. The food was amazing! The wait time was a little while but was to be expected seeming as they were completely packed. We got a matcha lava cake and matcha soft serve. They both had perfect matcha flavour and were too sweet aswell. The matcha latte was so smooth and rich in flavour. The traditional Japanese style serting was very comfortable and made a unique experience. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone, especially matcha lovers. We will be coming back again.

Went to Matcha House to drink some tea, and we enjoyed ourselves, felt like a whole experience. The interior was clean and made me feel like I was right in Japan - loved the K-pop and J-pop gently playing in the background. The staff were polite, knowledgeable, and seemed to observe Japanese etiquette when doing things like serving the tea. Their menu featured not only matcha, but also various teas based on their natural properties. I chose the 'allergy relief' tea which came in a pot, for one person, but was still plentiful. It was a nice thoughful touch to be provided with double-walled glasses to drink our tea with so that we didn't burn our hands!

The place doesn't take bookings so either you get lucky for a spare table on the spot or stand in line. Everyone has to order a drink or food, mandatory. Dessert was quite good, hojicha latte was my favorite. It was bitter with a hint of sweetness. Matcha sundae was good too! We asked for a birthday candle for our friend on her lava cake and when we asked for the bill, the single mini stick candle cost $1, unknowingly.

A very authentic matcha dessert shop with traditional Japanese seats and a great dining atmosphere. The matcha lava cake is a bit sweet but still highly recommended.

We ordered 2 lava cakes and 2 tea. This had certainly made our night, especially after a not too good Japanese dinner. Good job, keep going with the good food and service.

The experience was great! The staff is very friendly. The “Vegan Parfait” ice-cream was a great one for me 👌 I wouldn’t recommend the cold tea and waffles though (quite pricy for what it is).

Best Japanese dessert in Adelaide! I came here with my family and they have everything for older people and younger people. Perfect for family gathering. I will definitely come back here before I go back to Korea. I'm gonna miss this when I go back :(
