We didn’t know what to expect when we signed up for this cruise, but we were pleasantly surprised. The cruise starts on the river just to the left of the Rotunda and heads west to the Weir Gate before turning around and then heading east to the Zoo. We disembarked at the zoo which actually worked out great, bc we then spent the afternoon working our way through the beautiful Botanic Gardens. The cruise itself was a great way to orient yourself to Adelaide. The captain and the woman who was helping were both really friendly and knowledgeable. The commentary touched on everything from Adelaide history to the interesting architecture and landscaping we saw along the way. There were also scones and other snacks/drinks available for purchase onboard. Overall great cruise and highly recommended for both tourists and locals!

Love the Popeye and Paddle-boats at the river Torrens. I have been on both more times than I can count with my kids, my grandkids and clients and friends. The paddle boats are lots of fun but your legs sure get tired- worth it! The Popeye is very informative with the friendly commentary. It’s a really nice all around trip to zoo return and cool that there’s the option to get off at the zoo. Comfortable and spacious. Drinks for sale on the boat. Staff are very friendly and fun.

We took the cruise down the River Torrens today. GRACE the captain was very entertaining and informative. It was a really nice way to fill in an hour and I learnt a little bit about Adelaide and some of its history. Well worth the price. And the coffee was good too.

Adelaide Australia was once considered a laid-back city but the way it has revamped itself into the lifestyle capital of the country has left everyone surprised in a good way & credits to The Popeye River Cruises for showing it's beauty thoroughly!

I went on a Popeye cruise with some friends this morning and it was an absolutely delightful experience! Our captain provided fantastic commentary and lots of interesting history along the way. We pre-ordered the Devonshire Tea option which was delicious, fresh and a very generous serve. And the service on board was friendly and efficient. Thank you so much, it was a fabulous way to spend a sunny spring morning and a good reminder of how much fun it is to be a tourist in your home town.

Nice 45min cruise through centre of town. Nothing especially spectacular to see, but Sam have a good running commentary on the buildings and areas along the river banks. Plus some history. A pleasant trip on a nice day.

Great relaxing river cruise along River Torrens. Both Captain Tony and Hamish were very nice. Lovely scenery together with delicious scones, cream, jam and hot drinks.

I recently went on a relaxing and enjoyable trip on the Torrens River and was thoroughly impressed. The informative commentary provided along the way added a lot of value to the experience. The duration of one hour was perfect, giving enough time to soak in the beautiful sights and sounds of the river without feeling rushed or bored. Without a doubt, I would highly recommend this trip to others as it's excellent value for money.

Good little cruise. Especially with kids, not too long. We weren't in Adelaide for long so it was good to see some of the landmarks. The guide was fantastic,

A nice little dally down along the Torrens, but what makes this service really enjoyable is the people who run it. I went with my 3 yr old son on Tues 16/01/2024, and having asked my son multitudes of times before alighting the boat whether he needed "wee-wee" and being told that he didn't, he then decided he did once the boar had set off. This was no problem, and a bucket was provided for his benefit (twice), and the lady who was helping was so lovely and helpful. The driver was funny and interesting, making people feel welcome and accommodated.

Myself, husband and 4 kids (aged from 6-10) really enjoyed our Popeye ride. The skipper was so friendly and attentive as was the waitress on board. Drinks and food reasonably priced. It was fun waving to everyone as we cruised on by. It’s a fantastic thing to do with kids or if you’re visiting Adelaide

The cruise down the river was scenic but what was the highlight of cruise was Captain Sam’s wit, humour and imp facts commentary right through out the trip which added that zest and fun. Go for it!

Lovely relaxing hour on the Torrens on a glorious Spring morning. To be honest you can do this cruise on foot and see exactly the same sights, but we didn’t feel like walking so this was a great alternative. Commentary was informative, staff extremely friendly. The cruise hostess handing round laminated and mostly terrible quality old black and white photos of sights we passed was quite eccentric! I’d recommend this if you don’t feel energetic enough to stroll the river banks yourself and just want to sit back, relax and learn a bit about this city.

Had a wonderful time on this tour. Tom, our captain was very informative and entertaining. It was our Grandma’s 80th and he was so lovely and let her honk the horn and have some photos. A lovely 45 minute cruise with a lot of information about Adelaide. Would definitely recommend coming down and checking it out!!

Quirky little boat trip with upbeat informative commentary from the Skipper. Would recommend the scones followed by a bottle of wine as we did, all served during the cruise.

Great commentary during the cruise although it was a bit loud so it was sometimes difficult to hear. Nice day for a cruise which offered complimentary coffee and tea. Very stable boat, surprisingly. No one got sea sick. Hosts were very friendly and funny. I love the stories and some of the history mentioned. It was a full boat - 20 people on board due to COVID restrictions. Would be nice if they had another boat going as it was booked out on the day and some my friends weren’t able to get on. Cruise felt a bit short but will do it again and maybe try some of the themed cruises :) Liv

I was visiting Adelaide from Perth last week and a highlight of my week was a trip along the River Torrens aboard the Popeye. A great way to enjoy the sights of this beautiful city that has so much character. The Popeye crew welcome you aboard, there's refreshments and a wonderfully entertaining commentary of the sights and history of Adelaide as you cruise the river. The Popeye itself is steeped in local history. I will definitely make the Popeye part of future trips to Adelaide and urge all visitors to do the same. First class and professional.

Great people to deal with. An icon of South Australia, one that should be protected and never lost. I remember as a boy when my parents took me on the Popeye, since them my children have been and not to long and their children will have the privilege to ride the Popeye as i did. Friendly professional staff who make it a great enjoyable experience. Highly recommended.

Nice and easy, lazy leisure. We went on Devonshire Tea Cruise and the scones were quite good. It's only 45min so kids managed to sit quietly and look for birds and even turtles.

My family and I had a great time on the Popeye II! It was a very fun and informative cruise with entertaining commentary on the history of the river and it's remarkable sights. The Captain did a great job keeping the whole boat laughing and having a great time. I highly recommend a ride!

Fun and informative river cruise. Its a short waddle around the river but you get to see some nice views 👌

I joked with my husband that our 90-minute cruise would be the 45-minute cruise done twice, I was right. Hahaha. The Kangaroo Island Spirit tasting was disappointing; we could barely hear the girl telling us about each drink over the cackling of the women on board, and the measures were minuscule. We ordered two cheese plates to accompany our tasting, and this too was very average. If you are a group of girls wanting g a good start to an evening out, fabulous. If you are a couple after an informative cruise along the River Torrens, you will be disappointed.

After more than 14 years in Adelaide, I finally found my way to the Popeye for a nice morning tea with the kids and we loved it! Thanks to our captain and all the information he shared with us… tour was nice and the scones were amazing!

Nice little outing and interesting commentary for us poms who want to know about the surroundings and it’s history. We opted for the Devonshire scones and hot drink and although it wasn’t ideal to eat them on the trip we enjoyed them off shore and they were delicious!!

It was the best cruise for us!!! Mark was great and Tony was awesome. Each of us had a unforgettable time especially when we were made captain for a minute! Highly recommended!!!

This 45mins cruise, was informative. A relaxing ride, with no crowd due to covid restrictions. If you are into architecture of historical buildings, this will be for you. Otherwise the occasional ducks, birds, pelicans. I personally don’t think that kids or youngsters will be too keen on this cruise. The boat was clean and spacious. Noticed that the paddle boats were wipe down immediately after the passengers left. Thanks for keeping us safe. Booking online is easy and don’t forget your seniors concession if you have one.

What a lovely trip and a great way to see Adelaide from a different angle. Mark and Dave were excellent - friendly and informative. Lots of local knowledge. I was amazed most at the amount of bird life seen on the river. There were wonderful varieties on show and we even saw a couple of large turtles too. Definitely recommended to do this when you're in Adelaide. For the price, it's money well spent and you'll have a lovely 45 minutes cruising along The Torrens.
