I was talking with a friend about automobile museums in the US and remember enjoying this museum. It was quite a while ago. I must had forgotten to leave a review. I remember there was a lot to see besides airplanes and cars. I am glad I made the trip. The museum is huge.

This museum is located in Hood River, about an hour and a half east of Portland and is maintained by enthusiasts. It houses many old aeroplanes, automobiles and bikes. You can see some of the older steam engine cars that are still in good running condition as they are regularly serviced. It's like candy land for car and aeroplane lovers. I was excited to see a Wright Brothers Glider. Some of the aeroplanes have documentary videos shown right in front of them for context. There is a pretty gift shop too.

Today we visited WAAAM for the first time. Despite a brief and fast go through we all were indeed thrilled to see the wonderful collections with well maintained display. Simply Great! Congratulations to all those who shaped this wonderful museum and appreciate all - the Chairman, Committee Members, Volunteers and every contributor. Thanks.

We went for the Model T driving school which was awesome. Getting the opportunity to drive one of these old cars was a treat. The museum is spectacular, everything is clean and well cared for. They do a great job. I highly recommend stopping and looking around.

Very amazing volunteer ran museum. I cannot wait to go back with more time! The donated pieces are just magnificent, and the attention to detail is incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I would say fun for all ages, if you like vehicles. Big gift shop, cool items just everywhere. There was even a small vintage sectionw ith some neat model planes. The restrooms were clean. If you ask nicely you can take a ride in a few of their model t's. Donations appreciated, please donate if you are able to. Tour was available as well, was on a poker run, so casually perused the museum. Will be back. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.

Visited Hood River during a very cool, rainy period for the month of April 2023. Struggling to find things to do during inclement weather, found WAAAM on Trip Advisor. We are not particularly car people but found this museum and all the volunteers who work there delightful. With more than 3 1/2 hangar acres of antique and classic cars, planes, motorcycles and more, there is so much to see. One thing that makes this museum unique is that all of the vehicles are operable and are used periodically for special events and parades. Consider going on the “Second Saturday” play day when a few of the airplanes, cars and other motorized vehicles are taken out, rides are given. We spent 2 enjoyable hours there before we here on overload with all to see. Included a few photo favorites we saw during our visit.

A bit overwhelming at first. This place is big and keeps getting bigger as you go along. A wonderful staff and gift shop. A highlight was the roaming (scooter) volunteers. These guys are a wealth of information and stories. Just when you think you have seen everything, there is more around every corner. Plan on sending at least two hours or more. Most of the collection is road or air worthy making it a special museum. Most everything is housed under 3 acres of building and very comfortable. Restroom was clean and they even have a snack bar. What a treat on a wet spring day. Definitely worth a return visit.

Highly recommend to take a few hours to check out the museum. Planes, cars and history.

Rather unique as they have so many rare, flyable, early aircraft, as well as a large collection of cars and other rare vehicles. I've never visited a museum quite like it.

This place is a fantastic little slice of history. It had mostly 20s and 30s planes and automobiles, though there was a smattering of 60s 70s and a couple more modern cars in the back that had just been donated recently. Guides were very knowledgeable. Unfortunately we missed the flight days and drive a model t days... there was also walls and walls of novelty collectible items, and some bikes and motorcycles.

WAAAM is such an awesome museum with a lot to see. They have annual events that I highly recommend checking out like the drive in and fly in. A great place for a great time.

Sent 2 hours there, could have spent all day there. The antiques were very impressive, we even had some of our own. The cars and airplanes were very interesting.

It was well worth the price, lots to see, I could have spent a couple more hours there, we actually got to ride in a 1931 Chevy because we were there the same time that a tour bus showed up full of people, usually they only give rides in the antique cars one Saturday a month, guess it was our lucky day.

One of my favorite places in hood river and at least in my top 5 museums I have been to. Perfect place to bring a gearhead or a history nut. The first time I went they only had two hangers now they have doubled the amount of floorspace they had and really packed it full there are some planes within inches of each other. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the volunteers are packed with knowledge and eager to share stories. This is really a must see if you are in Hood River.

Whenever the wife golf’s on a vacation I try and get to a museum. My career in aviation was wonderful. As such visiting well managed aviation museums is great for my soul. This museum is top notch. It focuses on a usually overlooked small commercial aviation. Their primary mix is from the Golden Age. That time between the world wars. Aviation progressed rapidly. In no place was it more rapid than the small commercial (often private )aircraft. As an engineer who’s career spanned the early jets to the most recent 787 and A350 I can relate to the change. The aircraft are flyable and in excellent condition. It takes in trainers that by no means rare to such beauties as the Model 40 a mail plane with passenger seats. You can stick your nose into the cockpit and passenger area. You can tell the folks here care about all of these birds. For someone looking for zoom zoom go fast aircraft this could be a disappointment. If you know aviation history be it design, engineering, maintenance, or milestones this museum is a must see.

An absolute must, one of a kind museum. If you're in Hood River spend half a day here. The volunteers are passionate and knowledgeable, the aircraft and automobiles beautifully restored and functioning.

Excellent experience, the volunteers are incredibly friendly and helpful, the museum feels more welcoming and inviting than others I've been to. An excellent accessible day-trip from Portland.

This place is INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!!! I’ve been to the Pima Air Museum, March AFB, the Evergreen Aerospace Museum, the San Diego Air and Space Museum, and none of those collections have the quantity of pre World War Two aircraft, that actually fly. Incredible car collection as well. Mind blown. Hidden Gem. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

One of the finest collections of antique aircraft, cars, trucks, motorcycles I have ever seen. Great volunteer guides. Love it!

I came here with my uncle during a lunch visit while he was in town working. The museum itself is very large with a huge selection of kind of everything from planes to gliders, to cars, guns, trucks, period items, a few videos on related topics to planes shown. If you like aeronautics and historical automobiles you'll love this place. The staff was helpful if you had any questions(and I think all veterans, A+). There is a gift shop in the front lobby to pick up a keepsake if so inclined. It's a nice, clean museum that I'm glad I visited

Really great museum very rare aircraft on display and also Automobiles and trucks. Also they have quiet collections of toys. They have some of the most knowledgeable staff I have ever encountered an aircraft Museum. Lots to see, plan on spending hours.

LOTS to see here and everything kept in immaculate condition by an army of dedicated volunteers. Anyone who appreciates antiques or machinery would love this place. This is not a hands on museum so if you have kids who are used to children's museums you'll be chasing them and saying "no, stop touching that!" A lot. Plus you have to pay to get in so if you're just looking for a quick and easy place to let your kids run out some energy, keep looking.

The best kept "secret" in civil aviation! The museum focuses on all types of general aviation with a remarkable collection of airworthy aircraft and working antique autos. In addition to the annual Fly-in on the weekend after Labor Day, many pilots fly there on the 2nd Saturday of each month, and even participate in a Model-T driving school!

If you like biplanes and old cars, this is a must see. I go to air museums all over the world. When I walked into WAAAM, I just said “wow”. Spent 4 hours exploring and was still finding treasures. If you like jets, head down to McMinville and visit the Evergreen museum. But personally if I only had time to visit either Evergreen or WAAAM, I would come here. One hour drive from Portland on the interstate, but spend 2 hours and drive the Columbia scenic highway. You won’t be disappointed by the drive or the museum. Special shout out to their many sailplanes, a part of aviation ignored by most air museums.

If you're into airplanes and cars and the things that are related. DON'T miss the chance to stop and see it. Come on second weekend of each month. They fly some planes and drive some old cars. Worth the time .

This is a hidden gem! Do you love antique planes and automotives, then this museum is a must visit! Every room was awe inspiring, lovingly maintained and we learnt something new, every turn! We are definitely coming back, because there's so much to see, still!

Fantastic airplane and car museum. Also many other small relics. Very large and can easily take several hours to experience the entire museum. If your in Hood River don't miss this gem.

This is an Oregon masterpiece. The Aviation world is better because this place exists and maintains key signature planes that tell the story of our we got to the planes and jets in the sky today. Take your time. Take lots of photos. Take friend or two and then tell all your friends and family where you went. Oh yeah. And car buffs... they have a some very nice cars in the barn too! Don't miss those while you are there.
