I stayed here Fall 2018 but since I added more details it changed my post date. This is not your typical hotel, it's very homelike no frills, but comfortable. Staff was friendly and personable, including the owner. They made the atmosphere fun. There's a friendly, adorable dog living here as well. If you enjoy socializing during your travels AND saving money, this is the perfect place.

Was meant to be staying here for five nights left after one. Place is absolutely filthy and not safe especially for a solo female traveller. First room I was given was downstairs, with a window and a curtain that would barely stop people seeing in. Was then moved upstairs to a room that had dirt and crisps on the floor and the trash can wasn’t even emptied. Even for a hostel this is really bad. Tried to speak to owner was just given a phone number to contact him on but no response

Really don’t understand how this hostel is getting so many 5 star reviews. Seems suspect. Hostel is located in an old building with an interior that is by no means inviting. Everything is old and worn down. There is a potent cigarette odor/musk that permeates the whole building that I find pretty repulsive. I feel like I need to shower by simply staying in my room marinating in the odors of this room/building. Booked 2 nights and won’t be staying the 2nd. Will bite the non-refundable fee but you couldn’t pay me to stay here again. Stick with Hostel Detroit (they were fully booked so I got duped by the 5 star reviews from this hostel).

This place has an awesome atmosphere and the two girls who work here are really helpful and keep the place in awesome shape ! I would totally stay here again Hamtramck is a very diverse neighborhood and really close to downtown Detroit on the bus. My only complaint (which is why I am giving 4 stars instead of 5) is that there is one guest, who I assume has been here for a long time, that never wears a mask around the house during the pandemic. But otherwise this place is awesome!!

The place as a place is not the best, but the people here are amazing. At the beginning when I see the place I wanted to go, in the end I stayed three nights. The staff was so consider and when I wnated to cancel in the beginning they let me do it. The best place to meet friends

Lovely, safe, cozy little youth hostel with a ton of hippie/queer charm at a super affordable price. I was in town far from home for a concert and this was exactly what I needed - a safe warm comfortable bed in an unfamiliar city. Thank you Hamtramck!

It served my purposes which was to lay my head on a pillow and sleep. I didn't have any fresh towels in my room or even a comforter on my bed. The building is pretty old and my room showed its age. It was clean and it had an air conditioner in it so that's a big plus. I stayed at a hostel in Washington DC before and this one was much better in my opinion. It's honestly an affordable option to sleep and you're not too far from downtown Detroit. Like a 10 minute drive. Good luck with street parking as it can be crowded on Holmes Street. The side walks are littered with trash and lawn care is basically non existent within the entire neighborhood. So it can be perceived as an eye sore to some. Would I stay here again? Wouldn't completely rule it out, but it's not a high priority.

Stayed for a week. Rooms were clean, building was old but nice and the dog Mia was super cute too. Met some cool ppl on the weekends which made detroit even more fun. Close to everything you’d need in Hamtramck, food dive bars etc but to get downtown it’s important to have a car (bus works but slow) Good service, friendly volunteers. Bed was comfortable and the private rooms were a great value. Would stay again if i come back to Detroit

Really fun and friendly. "Aunty" Nina helped me get to my room and figure out the laundry machines. Great place to stay. Beds are also super comfortable.

What a awesome spot to stay, first of all the prices are incredibly reasonable and the location is safe, quiet and very unique with so many different nationalities living together in this small city. The food diversity is top notch because their is always something new to try with the Polish, Lebanese, Bangali, American restaurant's. The rooms were clean and also, very quiet. I would HIGHLY recommend if your in the Metro Detroit area to book your stay here. AAAA++++

Great spot in an accessible location with very friendly, accommodating, and ultra-caring staff! Wonderful people from all over staying there, as well. Very clean room with super comfortable bed. The owner and other staff contacted me before, during, and after stay to make sure I didn't need anything. Five stars along all dimensions.

I couldn't believe this place turned into nice place to stay. If I'm not mistaken this object was Poland, or Polish city/town. I know people who stayed including me and it is just perfect

Stayed here last weekend to go to a hockey game and concert. Owner (can't remember his name but he looked like my buddy Nick, so you know he's solid 🤙) was super outgoing and beyond hospitable. Kendrick was mainly on hand and took excellent care and very easy to get along with. The neighbourhood is really neat and pretty Polish and a 10 minute drive from downtown. Had a lot more fun there than downtown. Best value and experience I've had at a hostel. Will definitely return in the future!

We spent 2 nights at this hostel with my friend. Staff was really lovely and tried help with all of our needs. There is a lovely backyard where you can hangout. The problem with this hostel is hygiene. Floors were dirty, toilets were pretty bad. The sheets weren’t better and they were really dusty, probably because they make the beds when someone checks out and then don’t change them until next person arrives but since the floors/rooms in general are dusty and dirty, beds get dirty as well. Even though there was an AC in our room, it wasn’t enough and really hot. Me and my friend had hard time sleeping.

This place is awesome and super convenient, the rooms nice and pretty, the environment super inclusive and relax. If you're an student visiting Detroit this would be a nice place to crash.

I'm very glad I stayed here. The hostel has a great vibe and is a great value in a cool old heritage building. They management needs to empower staff to deal with zero-cost customer concerns (fixing a smoke detector, changing rooms). Can anything be done to prevent the dog from waking guests up at night. Oh, and make sure they send out the right door code.

I liked Scott and almost all the other guests and adore the city of Hamtramck. There was a healthy, positive mixture of people there from the hostel's inaugural phase until I left. Visitors from abroad or students will be well-advised to stay here because there's usually a great mix of folk and the hostel itself is in the midst of a lovely neighborhood in Hamtramck, close to myriad shops and restaurants. I also never had a problem with crime or fear thereof, and I was a huge fan of a lot of the small businesses nearby. Check it out.

Located just near the beautiful city of Detroit in perfect location the hotel is clean and provides u great hospitality. The hotel owner Mr. Aaronson is very helpful and will guide u throughout your stay. The hostel follows all the CDC guidelines, including having everyone wearing mask, checking the temperature, NO EXCEPTION. I felt safe travelling during the pandemic
