Wow how the mighty has fallen. This restaurant used to be the best Polish food I’ve ever had. I was very surprised that they actually renovated the restaurant for the first time ever and it looks very nice. However they completely change the food. It doesn’t even taste similar to what it used to taste like. The wait staff was actually sitting in a booth chatting drinking eating while three of us guests had to signal them to come over to us. I can’t say that I’ll be back anytime soon. It actually breaks my heart to write this.

I’ll start off by saying I have a polish grandmother, so I appreciate this place in a different way. If you are looking for amazing, delicious and authentic polish food- this is the place!! I was visiting Detroit from Georgia and had read about this place and had to try it. Dill pickle soup might be my new favorite thing and not something I had from my grandmother. My husband had the combination plate and everything on it was too notch - stuffed cabbage (golumpki) pierogi (potatoes and sweet cheese), kraut, mashed potatoes and gravy. I had the other trio plate that had pierogi, sausage and potatoes cakes. All of which were amazing and something I would come back again and again for.

Was a guest in the banquet room upstairs. The food and service were excellent. The recent remodeling added to the ambiance. A definite stop when I am in Hamtramck.

My favorite go-to spot for Polish cuisine. Hungarian potato pancake with beef stew was absolutely fantastic. The dill soup is a must try if you haven't. Polish sausage is what you would expect. The sweet cheese pierogies are my favorite here. I sometimes crave the potato pancakes.

What an amazing place each time we come better than the last. Very clean and the food is delicious 😋 like eating at a friend's house. The soup is very tasty and filling, the stuffed cabbage is on point and the mashed potatoes are real mashed potatoes. We love the pierogis also made in-house. We were treated to a tour of the upstairs. Very cool. City chicken is the BEST!!! We are looking forward to our return. No pictures of the food this time, too delicious to wait to snap a photo of the food, next time for sure.

Showed up on a Saturday afternoon with 25 people from our hockey family. Andy and his team rearranged the restaurant to accommodate us. The service was great and the food was out of this world. We all had a great experience. Thank you

The absolute most perfect polish meal. My Aunt and I teared up when we got our plates and started eating, it brought us right back to growing up with our Polish grandmother/mother!! The food was cooked perfectly. The flavors were incredible, the food was visually pleasing as well. It checked all the marks, there wasn’t one item we didn’t LOVE. The service was so very thorough and attentive, as well. Absolutely wonderful experience. I drive an hour and twenty minutes out 2/3 times a year to come here.

I’ve never loved a restaurant more than here. I enjoyed every single thing that I got, their dill pickle soup was soooo good!! Their potato dumplings/pierogis were amazing, sauerkraut was cooked perfectly, and especially their stuffed cabbage! I <3 Polonia ❤️

The potato pancakes and sweet cheese Pierög’s were so delicious that I was in niebiańsk and I am not Polish! When you are handed a white squeeze bottle of sour cream like a catsup or mustard bottle, you KNOW you came to the right spot. Autumn, our server is as right on task and a great waitress. Her high quality professionalism and genuine care for my son in law and I made this dining excursion such a culinary delight. The cook has been here for decades. This is the real deal! If I show up, don’t even think to order what I ordered, they are all mine! LOL. ciesz się posiłkiem tutaj, warto.

Love the remodeling inside! The chicken soup is always delicious with it's thin noodles. Usually I get a polish platter, but this time got the breaded pork chops. They were tender and delicious. Also tried a side of the sirloin schnitzel, very good My partner had the roast beed and I got a taste. It looked to be eye of round, cooked just right, very tender, and sliced just shy of an inch thick, not shaved as so many other restaurants do with beef. You could really taste and appreciate the flavor. The dinners came with mashed potatoes, kraut and green beans. Green beans could have been cooked a little longer for my taste, but had good seasoning and flavor. Everything I have ever tried at Polonia has been wonderful. I will be back again and again and again!

Polonia is a fantastic Polish restaurant, I've been here quite a few times. This time we ordered breaded pork chops and schnitzel both were delicious. Meals are served quickly by professional and friendly servers. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and is nicely decorated. We stop in whenever we’re in the area.

I was passing through the area, and I'm pretty sure I had never eaten at a Polish restaurant before. The waitress very graciously helped me pick out a representative dish, the sampler with fresh sausage, potatoes, cabbage, dumplings, and a side of beet salad. Everything was excellent. The sausage was peppery and delicious. I would absolutely be here again next time I'm in the neighborhood.

Delicious dinner, 10/2021 on a weekday. My husband had city chicken with mashed potatoes, I had nalisniki and potato pancakes, and we both had chicken noodle soup. The waitress provided excellent service too. We will definitely be back, and it was worth the hour drive from our house in Lambertville, MI. Great remodel, too.

Super cozy place for lunch or dinner. I usually get the turkey sandwhich which is amazing. For dinner I do their beef goulash which also never disappoints. From what I can see, they run a clean clean ship. Staff is super friendly too!

I went here on Fat Tuesday and it was completely packed. We ordered the beet salad and cucumber salad along with some dumplings, delicious! They even gave my mom a crepe for her birthday. We will definitely be back.

Probably the best Polish food I had in a very long time. City Chicken was my favorite but everything was on point. Had cabbage soup and jalapeño cheese pierogis for an appetizer and it was great start to a fantastic overall meal.

Holy amazing Polish Food! Everything was delicious l, highly recommend this place. Service, staff and atmosphere were as amazing as the food. Dill pickle soup, city chicken, stuffed cabbage, kielbasa and pierogis were all some of the best I had. Looking forward to going back to try other stuff on the menu.

Recommend! Food was good and flavorful, good selection of items and combinations to sample different dishes. Big open space in dining room with plenty seats available, although establishment filled up quick service is quick and seating as well. Friendly and attentive service. Parking available on lot next to building or along road (all paid parking).

Hungarian pancake with goulash was amazing as were the sweet cheese crepes (I added fruit topping), schnitzel, city chicken and potato pancakes. I kinda miss the old look but the remodel looks fresh and clean. Already looking forward to my next visit 🇵🇱

Excellent Polish food! Their Pierogis are all made from scratch and delicious 😋 The owner, John, is super friendly and even brought entertainment (courtesy of himself) to our table. Both owners are very friendly, and the staff is great! But the food is definitely something that must be tried if visiting the Detroit area or just looking for an excellent restaurant - you won't be disappointed! 😊

Excellent customer service and delicious food. We had a group of 25 and it was seamless.

  • 1/5 Robert L. 3 years ago on Google
The most disgusting food I ever had. The sauerkraut if you want to call that must have been 10 weeks old. You get 3/4 of a glass of beer instead of a full glass. I thought it was impossible to have soggy fried pierogies. The place has been going downhill for many many years. The only reason I went there is because the PVC Cafe was closed. Never again I learned my lesson. You get better kielbasa off the Speedway Grill when you go to the gas station. To call this Polish food is a supreme insult.

Went here with my boss for lunch. The combo plate is the best bang for your buck. Absolutely a huge amount of food for a great price. The stuffed cabbage and pierogi especially knocked my socks off. Great service too. Love the atmosphere and simplicity. Authentic polish food not too far from home.

If you crave - or just enjoy - authentic Polish food, you'll love Polonia Restaurant in Hamtramk. The food and service are outstanding and the prices are very reasonable. And - it's fairly inexpensive to boot. As of about two months Polini closed.

The worst polish food I've had. The sausage was nothing like a polish sausage on the combination platter. The stuffed cabbage almost tasted bland ! The saurkraut was nothing sour. It was overcooked cabbage curry ! On top of that overly priced and small portions . Pierogies here must be a joke!!!??? 2 small ones raw almost If you want authentic polish food try Alexander's in South lyon. The portions are huge , double the size of here. And the real authentic taste of stuffed cabbage, bigger pierogis with cheese and saurkraut and potatoes. Wasted my money and drove 25 minutes for this

One of the best polish restaurants in the country!! I would highly recommend the sampler. Prices are unbeatable for the quality and quantity.
