This is the 3rd year I've visited Mabel Gray for vegan month. This year, I made reservations for two dinners during different weeks because of how impressed I have been this past 2 years. My first visit this year was no different. The vegan menu had a Latin flair this week, and it was incredible. Every dish was well- thought, perfectly cooked and beautifully fresh. Presentation is detailed - from the delicate flower designs beneath my first two plates, to the placement of the food to make space to create the perfect spoonful, the weight of the cutlery... it's all there. What i appreciate the most about Mabel Gray is how they make delicious food out of things I'd normally throw away. This year, I tried pickled watermelon rind. Last year, it was carrot green pesto. Service is excellent - I cannot believe the sign i saw on the door asking patrons to treat staff nicely. How could you not? It's not cheap to eat at Mabel Gray, but the value for what you're receiving is excellent. The serving sizes are large for a tasting menu, and I'm always stuffed before I make it to dessert. The only thing I would change is to request Mabel Gray to offer more vegan options throughout the year. The vegan month booked very quickly, so I had to book bar seats at their earliest time. The demand is clearly here for vegan options! Edit: Mabel Grey vegan month round 2 was somehow even BETTER than the first. LOVED the Japanese influences!

This is the third time going to Mabels for me. We had the tasting menu with a pairing and everything was amazing. They somehow can make things I normally don't care for, such as oysters and sweet potatoes, not only edible but delectable. The service is always top notch and the dessert is always to die for. I love the idea of their tasting menu because I get to try most of their menu- which is rotated weekly- and get full in the process. I've never had a bad experience here.

Mabel Grey for dinner tonight!! This 8 course meal was one of the best I’ve ever had. Every course was amazing and delicious. They were so nice and service was absolutely spectacular. This place is reservations only but I highly recommend this place for great experience and meal. The bar manager was the best. And the even the owner came out and spoke to us. This place was absolutely a experience everyone needs to try.

If the definition of amazing was a restaurant it would be Mabel gray. James beard nominated, Michigan native Chef Rigato & the crew at Mabel knock it out of the park. If you are looking for a suggestion its simple. Get the chefs choice dining experience. As each of the 8 courses arrive each bite delivers your palette with something similar to the movie Ratatouille when Anton Ego had flashbacks to his childhood. …. Ok no flashbacks, but definitely taking those taste buds to flavor town. Do your due diligence. Book that reservation in advance & put that deposit down. You will be happy you did.

The menu was just amazing the way each dish paired items you would not necessarily think would go together but tasted so amazing, the chef really knows what they are doing. All the wait staff were very informed and able to explain dishes in detail and give suggestions. Everything was amazing 😍🤩. Had wedge salad, lamb ribs, scallops and bread. They were all amazing.

Food and drinks were incredible! Highly recommend the full experience and sitting at the bar was nice. The food is absolutely amazing from the corn, the zucchini, the burger, all the way to the sou vide steak! Cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you for an incredible dinner Saturday evening! We will definitely be back!

We enjoyed their tasting menu. Everything was delicious and unique and served in a timely manner. Our server was friendly.

Probably my favorite culinary experience in Metro Detroit. It's that place where it doesn't matter what they bring you, it's going to be so enjoyable that you'll wonder why you've never tasted those flavors before. Tasting menu is the perfect way to see what they're all about and the wine pairings are impeccable as well. I definitely recommend booking as close to a month in advance, if possible. Chef Rigato puts together one of the most elevated, unpretentious dining experiences I've ever had.

A completely incredible mother's day experience! I cannot give the staff enough praise! The service was impeccable and the food matched. Each dish was an experience that will not be forgotten and will definitely inspire my own experimentation in the kitchen. The experience could honestly not have been better in anyway shape or form, they truly gave it their all and let each plate prove their point for them. Each dish easily got an 11/10 Service staff was polite and informative, the perfect cherry ontop of your meal. 11/10 Would I go again definitely and I will absolutely bring a date here to impress. I will definitely come again and will recommend them to all of my friends and coworkers too!

The staff is the highlight of Mabel Grey, everyone was super polite and friendly. They were very knowledgeable about the dishes and the pairings which really makes an experience better. The food was phenomenal! We did the tasting and I'm very happy for it. If we had not, I know we likely would not have gotten the soup and that would have been a mistake. I think my favorite dish of the night was the tuna, just amazing. My only drawback was that it was loud in there. It's was difficult to have a conversation with other members of the table between courses. While the food was in front of us, talking wasn't what we cared about 😉 Been told we needed to go for some time now, and I'm happy we finally did.

We were lucky to get a reservation for 2 during our visit to the family around the holiday. I am pregnant with special diet restrictions so there were a lot of emails back and forth prior to my booking and yet Paulina the GM of the restaurant was so patient with my questions and so helpful with my booking. The food was amazing. Service was great. It was truly an amazing experience. Thank you!

So happy that once again after 3 years I’m able to secure reservations more often. It became impossible during covid. This place remains the top place to eat in Detroit and the rotating menu makes it exciting every time! And their beverage program is as good as their food!

I would highly recommend this restaurant, it was arguably the best restaurant experience I’ve had. The food was good and the service was even better. My wife and I got the tasting menu and it was definitely worth it, I also got the drink paring option to go along with the tasting menu. Max our server was phenomenal, he was very knowledgeable and passionate about every single dish and drink that came to our table. I love going to a restaurant and not just being handed the food but also learning something about it. The entire staff here definitely delivers on all cylinders, we accidentally spilled a drink at our table and before I could even react there were 3 staff members wiping it up with the 4 bringing a replacement😬. Great place and thee best oysters I’ve ever had so far.

This experience was AMAZING! Everything served was delicious! The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere. Perfect for a special date night out. Our waiter was very attentive and was able to substitute a different dish for us when we told him that oysters were an allergen. We had the chef's taster menu and the wine paring.

The food, cocktails and service were all great! Each dish we had we would order again. The Sea Bream was such a light, tasty dish while the shepherds pie was hearty, filling and comforting. The ham toast and the beet salad were both great as well. We sat on the patio and it happened to be one of the first nice days of the season. It was a nice atmosphere to eat, have a cocktail and enjoy a date night.

AJ, our server really took such amazing care of us, and the meal was delicious! The Basque Cheesecake is so good it’s mandatory while it’s on menu. Coffee service was out of this world.

The service and atmosphere was fantastic! I am not a huge fan of lamb and that was one of the courses for the tasting menu, but I would honestly get it again because it was made perfectly. I can't wait to try it again sometime when they change up the menu again.

Well this is THE place to experience luxury food. No other explanation exists. Super fancy and equally expensive, it's totally worth the experience. If you're a foodie and want to treat yourself, try their tasting menu. Can't talk about specific food items because the menu changes constantly but I'll leave with this. The chef is super talented and there maybe dishes you may not like but no way you'd regret it. He pushes culinary rules all the way and some misses are unavoidable. Going in with an open mind would help blow it away!

Every time I go to Mabel Grey it's a fantastic experience. Helpful staff to cater to your needs in house and dietary, a rotating menu, and a pleasant atmosphere. I always get the chef's tasting (sometimes some are more exciting than others) and they're amazing every time. The alcohol pairing is also fun to try as well with it!

There is NOTHING in Detroit area that compares. The staff is phenomenal and accommodating. Max behind the bar is a wizard and always makes me cocktails based on what spirit I’m feeling- never has he failed! Chef James and staff clearly invest a HIGH level of care into their dishes. I cannot recommend Mabel Grey enough. 5 stars is an understatement, and Mabel Grey will forever have me and my boyfriends heart. Thank you staff.

Had an excellent dinner! We did the 8 course with the wine pairing. I believe our server was Natalie…she was FABULOUS! Very friendly and professional, she knew her stuff! The pics do not do the food justice. It was such a wonderful dinner and experience 😊

What a treat of a place. Food is top tier, service follows suit. Great spot for a celebration, date, or even just an amazing dinner. Will for sure be back to try rotating menus!

I had a wonderful time during my visit. The staff was amazing, kind, and accommodating. They knew their menu well and explained every course perfectly. The food was delicious, I went with the tasting menu and everything was perfection. We also ordered the octopus which was the best I’ve had in a while. If you’re looking for a good experience and delicious food make the reservation. Go into it with the mindset that this isn’t Burger King, this is a culinary experience. They don’t make substitutions and they have a set menu. If you’re looking for unique flavors and a carefully crafted menu then you will definitely enjoy your experience here.

The menu is ever changing but I was able to try their truffle fries, house soup, bread with peach, spicy honey, cheese, and fried rice. I was interested in the tasting menu but they do not tell you what they serve beforehand, and I'm not as quite as bold as a foodie as some reading this. Overall I thought the food was good. I did not have a personal favorite that I fell in love with, but I appreciate the work that goes into each item. I would most likely try a second time in the future, and would recommend at least trying this place out once to see if it's your vibe.

First of all I've been here four times in the past six months and have had a beyond excellent experience every single time! All four times myself and my dinner partner(s) got the tasting menu. All four times everything was delicious. It wasn't a matter of what I didn't like but what of the night was my least favorite. The staff is so nice and personable. They are incredibly accommodating to food allergies and very attentive. I've read some other reviews and was surprised at some of the negative ones so feel it necessary to share my experiences. In my experience you can only book reservations online and it is by reservation only. When you book online you will see what type of seating is available - bar, patio, or dinning room, and choose from what is available. There is a deposit for each guest that will come off your final bill. They do automatically add 20% gratuity to the bill, which in my experience the server has always told us when they brought the bill. None of these things bother me in the slightest because the food is superb, the service is amazing, and the overall experience is unique and never the same. Mabel Gray is by far my favorite restaurant for any sort of special occasion and I highly recommend anyone who has the opportunity to visit do so!

My favorite restaurant! I have a reservation at the bar for every vegan tasting menu throughout the year. Tonight was my second year for the Vegan Thanksgiving menu. It’s so good… Everything! The service… perf! The drinks… expertly paired! The Food… inventive and delicious! Soundtrack… dope! Every person that works in the building… excellent! Can’t recommend Mabel Gray enough! It’s expensive and worth every bit. This is dining out for me! ✌🏼❤️
