This is our Friday night spot! We’ve been coming here for months and look forward to it every week! Bobbie and Rachel are amazing. Awesome drinks! And the bar food is amazing!

Wait staff is terribly rude. The food is the only thing worthwhile. I hate walking into a bar willing to spend money and the servers act like they down even want you in the place.

If I could give them less than one star I would. My friend (who was visiting from out of town) and I went here, it took them 10 minutes to even pay any attention to use (we sat at the bar). When they did they made up some BS policy about having to be 27 years old if you had an out of state license and my friend was 26 (which according to the bar tender has been policy for a year now with nothing about it being posted anywhere). So they refused to pay us any attention so we just left

I’m sad to write this review, but Management needs to hear this. This place is one of my favorites. I wasn’t shocked to hear my best friend say she walked out on Sunday night due to poor service when a certain person was working. I knew exactly who she meant, and it’s Rachel. I have now had several bad experiences with her. Last Friday night being the most recent. Not only does she not greet you or acknowledge your existence, she will continue to do this for 15 minutes or more! I’m not sure why she works there. She seems to hate it. Very poor customer service and we are at the point we will not go there if she is working. Sad it’s come to this point…this does not represent the whole business. Justin, Bobbi, Patty, all wonderful in hospitality, atmosphere great, drinks and food amazing!

Where do I even begin? From the moment we sat at out table Danielle was not only knowledgeable about the drinks the establishment served but she was thoughtful and considerate as it was our first time dining here. She recommended The Pony Espresso and my was it heavenly, i had never had anything like it before in my life. My partner and i were not too hungry so we settled for the totchos which was the perfect size for two. She kept our waters filled and made sure we were always accounted for. it appeared to be a slower day so we had a little chit chat as well. It is nice to know that there are still great servers out there that take the time out of there day to make others delighted. We will be back!

I’ve been to the martini pub probably a dozen times and love the food and drinks. Unfortunately, I’ve had two bad experiences with one of the servers who always seems to have an attitude. I brought friends from out of town to try the wings on Monday night, she didn’t greet our table but instead stood awkwardly staring until we spoke and asked for drinks. The worst was when a friend ordered one last drink before leaving that was put on a separate tab. She disappeared and another waitress offered to take up the separate tab to cash us out. While we were leaving she chased us down and accused us of leaving without paying, the other waitress had to tell her we already paid. What an embarrassing experience in front of our guests from out of town.

I’ve been coming here for years. Always consistent with specials and good pricing even after the pandemic. I like it because it’s a true neighborhood bar. The staff knows me and my kids and have always gone above and beyond to make sure we are sat asap even when they are busy. My daughter doesn’t even have to ask for her Shirley temple with 3 cherries anymore. The burgers are where it’s at. Do yourself a favor and get the garlic dill fries with garlic aioli on the side. My son always gets a grilled cheese with bacon and egg and my husband is into the Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Would like to point out that after reading other reviews I came across a pretty nasty one that mentioned the sign not being flipped around to say closed due to the staff not having “brains or decency” to flip the sign. I chatted with our waitress about it and she pointed out that the sign does not actually flip around. It’s lit up when they are open and the hours are underneath the sign. So if you are unsure if they are open or not you can always look underneath the sign. Hope this helps anyone else that may be confused!

Great Drinks! Rachel the bartender is beyond the standards of a regular bartender, she might be the owner, based off of how much she cares for the bar and customers. She is neat, organized, and makes one hell of a drink. The Old Pony is dimly lit and poorly decorated but a great time non the less. The atmosphere is welcoming and honestly one of the only places to go in GP you can get a late night cocktail. The food is good, cheap but it’s what you want from a bar. The falafel burger is a hidden menu gem. In conclusion, the Old Pony is a dive bar with a fantastic bartender who makes you want to be a repeat customer. Special shout-out to Rachel for being so awesome and friendly. You’re really great at what you do

Thought I reviewed this years ago... Had I, it would have been 5 stars. I came to update this to drop it 2 stars. Why? Consistency. One day it's great, the next, everything is overcooked, under-seasoned... Just not good. It's been a few times since we've had a good meal here. I make burgers modeled off what this place used to be. Fix this and we'll be back, because the recipe is still there.

This is a Martini Pub, but the cheeseburgers stole the show for me. Hands down, one of the best burgers I have had in a minute compliments to the chef. The pub is located near a parking garage for easy parking.

The service is excellent the craft cocktails are exquisite. I feel at home here. Especially with Quan and Patty. Try the 99 problems and the wings…you will NOT be disappointed

One of the very few places that are relaxed, consistent, delicious, and fun in Grosse Pointe. Open late pretty much every day. Totchos and burgers are incredible! Patty is my favorite bartender and I definitely recommend giving them a try. Love the Pony!

The girls and I LOVE old pony! The crew here is so friendly and tight-knit. The martinis are consistent and tasty! Not to mention, Justin the bartender is the cutest

Went here last week for the first time. Great atmosphere and very friendly staff. The Martini's were on point. I tried one of their burgers, so good I could've eaten 5 more. They then insisted I try their Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich. I've tried many Chicken sandwiches and theirs is at the top of my list. 10/10 recommend trying this place and everything they have to offer

Food is amazing. Staff is fantastic. All around you can’t beat a night at the Pony.

When you pay with your credit/debit card, watch the WAIT STAFF!! They will ADD EXTRA to your Tip. It has happened to me twice and a friend once! I always tip in cash and save my receipts. I left $3.00 in cash on a $12 bill and got charged $17 to my card. The wait staff counts on you not looking at your bank receipt.

The food was good, the jukebox was cranking with decent music .This had the potential of being a good time however, the service was sort if bad.... the servers were gathered at the end of the bar and only were attentive when verbally called . Then they were sort of not very friendly...... Eventually one waitress/ bartender determined that we had enough exercise in waving them down and decided to be our waitress. She was OK and maybe it was just an off night or they had just had a rush I dont know but I didnt feel welcomed. To respond to a smiling greeting from a patron should not have been so taxing. I may give this another try and hopefully it will be better. I did not overtly feel our less than stellar service was race related but it just was not good.😌 actual grade 2.5

The smash burgers are simple bar food but done amazingly well. The drinks are ALWAYS spot on. If you're in the area I recommend Old pony over any other bar in the vicinity.

Well according to my food buddy this is the BEST well seasoned burger ever. We went in for a late night bite, and I have to admit after he let me taste the second burger and fries he ordered it was indeed delicious. The chicken I ordered was good also. The employees were very pleasant and helpful.

In my opinion their cheeseburger and garlic dill fries are the best in the area. Also, the drinks are great, particularly their mules and the strawberry cheesecake martini are delicious!

Stopped in for lunch on Saturday and Melissa was behind the bar. She's awesome, very friendly and professional. The food was outstanding! Maybe the best onion rings that I have had in years. I can't wait to try the chicken sandwich next.

Get a drink at the bar, don’t get the food. Martinis are good but had an unsanitary experience. One of the workers had their dog in the dining space. She plopped her dog on a dining table next to us and played with her/him. I love my dog just as much as anyone but this was a health code violation. I have reason to believe the dog is there in the kitchen as well.

I love this place! The service was always great and still is, but one time it was especially amazing. I had ordered a Shirley temple but they didn’t have the grenadine for it, so they went to the store near by just to get it for me. This made me feel so great, and I really appreciate what they did.

Would like to give a higher rating but some of the staff were not very friendly. No one said a word when we walked in, they just looked. Do we seat ourselves? Do they seat us? Don't assume we have been there before. And hey it's kinda nice to have someone say "hello" or "welcome". No prices listed for drinks. Never a fan of that. On a positive note the drinks were good. The chicken fingers and tot-nachos were really delish. On the fence about going back again.

Used to be a decent place with value pricing. Last 2 times that my wife and I went we were literally yelled at by the staff (multiple people). Highly recommend AVOID going there!

Me and my friend went to get drinks and a bite to eat here. Drinks were awesome and strong. Service was slow but there was one server for the whole place. I was hungry so I ordered a grilled cheese with a fried egg on it. Once we received it and after I ate a bite I realized there was bacon on it. I've been vegetarian for 7 years so this was very upsetting to me. Manager/head bartender was kind enough to comp me and my friends entire bill that night. Will come back for the drinks but probably not the food Lol.

You’ll find this local favorite in the heart of a walkable downtown stretch, you’ll sit down for the classic menu & creative cocktails, you’ll stay for the friendly feel good staff! Make sure you stop in when Rachel is working, can’t say enough good things about her! Made our night so fun & we can’t wait to visit her again. Can’t go wrong with the spicy chicken sandwich!!

Good, cheap smash burgers. Depends on who's cooking what temp range they come out at. Never bad though, just sometimes better than others. Hot fries are awesome. Portabella fingers are fantastic. Loved the staff but they have been replacing some folks. Prices on the rise. These two factors pushed me to be less frequent and start back up my rotation around town.

Heard good things unfortunately my wife and I walked in and were never greeted. Decided to take a table by the door. Watched two more people walk in, be greeted by the server and told to sit wherever. Then the server proceeded to take their order. At least the server acknowledged us and said bye when we decided to leave

They add on a 20% gratuity on a party of 6 it's not listed on the menu or posted anywhere. The waitress messed up the drinks and the bill. Come to find out she had added us to a large party that was there already because we all were black. She admitted to me that she thought we were with them and charged us automatically!! Wow nice to know that's how you see paying customers won't be back. The party of five who weren't Black did not get gratuity added on because I asked.

The service is great ...I think my mom forgot we went for lunch ..she was all about the chocolate martinis. Burgers were perfect. I ordered a to go salad with chicken that my husband loved

Hubby and I just relocated and are new to town. We stopped in for our first visit and Patty and Justin treated us like regulars. So friendly and such great customer service. We felt very welcomed. The drinks were great and the food was delicious! The double cheeseburger and totchos were impressively scrumptious. The burger was so juicy and one of the best we’ve had in town! We are looking forward to many more great memories at Old Pony. Cheers friends!

Great drink specials every day and all day. Great selection of martinis and drinks, and beer, both bottled and draft. It's bar food, but that's a compliment. Simple, tasty, well-made, and satisfying. The menu would make a vegetarian think twice, but the server recommended vegetarian options that were tasty...and satisfying. I liked how she (Bobbie) took the extra (unsolicited) effort to explain how they can accommodate vegetarians. It was a nice touch.

Rachel is the BEST bartender around. She’s attentive, personable, and makes amazing drinks. Highly recommend coming to the Pony any day of the week for great food and great drinks!

The food is fairly priced and good. The servers are also great. I (and I've noticed some others) tend to come here for the power outlets and internet, which means we can get some work done after all of the coffee shops and libraries close. Of course, I try to be mindful if it's starting to get busy, but I've gotten a lot of work done thanks to the inviting atmosphere and amenities!

Great place to grab a solid drink (had a couple dirty martinis). Need to go back and try the food. Ambiance was good too along with attentive and friendly staff!

We came in for the first time in a while and was greeted with warmest welcome we had in a while. We had the two bartenders Rachel and Justin and they were more than accommodating. As soon as we were done with our drinks they were ready to make us another one even if they were a hard drink to make. I would highly recommend this place to all my friends and colleagues.

I used to be a regular here! And every staff there was always friendly and would accommodate! But there is one bartender that I am not pleased with, she is the reason why it’s NOT a 5 star rating, I’ll call her out and I know that many people know exactly who I am talking about, her name is Rachel and she was always extremely rude to me and most people that go there. I would only go in when she is not working!

Amazing drinks and amazing food. You can taste how fresh the burger and chicken sandwich is. I asked and they say it’s freshly delivered and never frozen. I tried a little bit of everything with some friends. Service was friendly too.

Old Pony is simply a delight. Easy going, cozy, tasty, fast, reasonably priced - my favorite kind of place to eat and drink! Rachel’s service is always outstanding. Her warmth as a server is so welcoming, she makes you feel comfortable and cared for. Always psyched to see her serving when I walk in. Come here solo or with your friends, Old Pony is where it’s at.

Referred by a client that I was assisting down the street. I gotta say the place is nice and tucked right off the main road. Asked the bartender Bobbie what she would recommend and she said chicken sandwich and dill fries... and DAMN!!!!!!!! The chicken was crispy and tender at the same time. The fries were reminiscent of fried pickles and amazing. I will gladly make the trip back!

Incredible chicken sandwich and garlic dill fries! The chicken was somehow juicy and still had a very crispy crust. Will be back soon.

So I’m just leaving from up here at the old pony along with my wife and I must say that I’m quite up set because I said outside for five minutes after the server told me and my wife that we could be seated outside so she can serve us and when she came outside she dressed every single other person table except ours and it’s sad because yes we yes I must admit we were the only black couple sitting outside waiting for our drink order the young lady addressed every other table it was for other tables not to mention the couple who sat next to us who had a dog sitting at their table the young lady asked each table individually if they needed another drink after they all said no I said Excuse me but she proceeded to walk toward the door Not cool not cool at all I would give this writing a zero but I’m being nice

Love The Pony. Staff is great and we really enjoy the burgers and portobello fries. We have been very impressed with how the staff has maintained a clean, safe environment despite some customers being very uncooperative about masking and waiting for tables to be cleaned. Kudos to Old Pony!
