We
spent
three
nights
over
Christmas
at
the
hotel.
Front
up,
a
4*
designation
for
this
hotel
is
undeserving.
Upon
arrival
we
felt
almost
blamed
by
a
rather
unfriendly
receptionist
for
booking
four
massages
online,
when
in
fact
we
only
booked
two
and
received
confirmation
for
only
two.
Already
the
information
sheet
spelled
out
in
detail
the
different
charges
for
late
check
out,
all
depending
on
the
final
check
out
time.
When
we
tried
to
change
a
day
later
one
of
the
massages
from
morning
to
afternoon,
again
the
receptionist
immediately
told
us
this
could
only
be
done
if
we
paid
an
extra
rebooking
charge
(we
changed
the
time
from
9.40
to
16.00.
We
ignored
her
and
talked
to
the
massage
therapist
a
few
minutes
later
and
there
was
no
charge
or
problem
to
change
the
time.
Whatever
instructions
from
management
the
receptionists
must
follow
it
feels
like
they
need
to
squeeze
every
penny
from
their
guests.
When
we
checked
out
and
paid
the
bill
nobody
asked
me
did
you
enjoy
your
stay
or
said
a
friendly
sentence
like
we
hope
to
see
you
again
soon.
These
are
usually
standard
statements
and/or
questions
at
time
of
departure.
None
of
the
aforementioned
points
are
normal
traits
of
a
4*
establishment.
Overall,
the
meals
were
okay,
except
for
the
meal
served
on
Christmas
Day.
Meat
Tartare
(without
bread
wafers)
was
the
appetizer,
next
a
Hummer
soup
(totally
over
spiced,
I
could
not
eat
it),
next
fresh
Salmon
covered
with
little
junks
of
salt
(again
could
not
be
eaten),
and
finally
the
main
meal,
thin
sliced
Duck,
almost
rare.
Imagine,
meat,
shellfish,
raw
fish,
and
finally
rare
poultry
in
one
and
the
same
meal.
I
hope
the
chef
is
not
counting
soon
on
Gault
Millau
points
for
his
creations,
sadly,
he
won’t
win
them
with
such
a
combination.
They
possibly
had
to
use
up
their
stocked
food
because
of
the
impending
closure
but
this
Christmas
meal
was
truly
unacceptable.
Breakfast
was
plenty
full
but
when
requesting
ketchup
for
eggs,
it
arrived
about
15
minutes
later
(twice)
after
the
eggs
were
long
eaten.
The
waiters
are
friendly
but
obviously
could
benefit
from
a
bit
of
training.
How
they
tie
their
aprons
(some
nicely,
others
rather
sloppy)
to
blouse
tops
they
are
wearing,
some
obviously
no
longer
fitting
well
showing
their
underwear.
We
were
told
that
the
hotel
will
be
undergoing
a
major
renovation
in
the
new
year.
This
is
positive
news
since
the
entire
place
seems
stuck
in
the
1970
area
with
terrible
wall
decorations,
vinyl
seats
etc.
Small
improvements
in
their
suites
would
be
helpful
to
possibly
elevate
the
status
of
the
hotel
somewhat.
An
additional
towel
bar
to
hang
up
wet
bathing
suits,
a
second
comfortable
chair
and
a
small
seat
in
the
mirror/
wash
basin
area
would
be
helpful.
Having
a
few
additional
clothes
hangers
would
not
hurt
either.
My
cosmetic
treatment
was
enjoyable
and
professional,
so
were
the
two
massages.
Both
establishments
seemed
to
be
operated
independent
from
the
hotel
by
self-employed
professionals.
The
pool
and
spa
area
are
fine,
at
least
in
the
wintertime
when
few
guests
are
using
them.
To
swim
in
the
evening
is
a
bit
daunting
with
the
lack
of
light
inside
the
actual
pool
room.
I
do
hope
this
time
around
the
hotel
is
planning
to
use
the
professional
services
of
an
experienced
decorator
to
create
an
ambiance
befitting
of
a
four-star
hotel
designation.
Whoever
was
responsible
for
redecorating
any
areas
so
far
(from
the
cheap
little
plastic
Christmas
trees
on
each
table,
to
paintings
hung
totally
mismatched
in
the
dining
room
area
on
gaudy
colored
walls)
is
well
advised
to
stay
away
from
doing
new
decorative
damage
to
the
new
remodeled
areas.
As
always,
staff
is
only
as
capable
as
management
encourages
their
conduct
and
service
and
pays
for
additional
training
if
necessary.
Perhaps
this
might
be
the
problem
here.
