Oh mang! this is our all time favorite when missing the ohana and comfort food. Since finding this spot by dh i remember we would go every weekend because we were that excited and there werent great stores like this many many many years ago but we're very happy that they have been here and would like for the store to stay for many many years to come The owners and their staff are very friendly and helpful. Lastly, omg the food and quality hands down! Just like in Hawaii! 😋😋😋😋🤗 the boys really love their BAM musubis regular and spicy and mochiko chicken while we the adults lol have our local boy, portugese spam and salmon musubis, pork lau lau and of course, salmon and ahi tuna poke we have been coming before the boys, but we'll continue to come here and HELLA recommend this place!!

Great selection of Asian and Hawaiian snacks at fair prices. It's cheaper to buy here than to pay shipping fees unless you're buying huge quantities. The spam musubi was pretty good. Eat it as a meal or share with a friend for a snack. Poke is quite expensive.

It's a small market that has a kitchen to prepare Hawaiian specialties. We went on a Saturday morning. They open at 11 and by 1050 there were ppl lined up outside. When you walk through the door, someone is there to get you and take your order for the kitchen. If you're one of the few that is shopping and not ordering food from the kitchen, you will see the ppl rush to the musubi warmer to the left of the shop or to the back of the shop for fresh poke or to the front door fresh butter mochi/ strawberry anko mochi, or other manjus from the Shuei-Do manju shop. There are lots of items you'll find in Hawaii only. Reminds me of the little mom and pop shops on the island. We bought 3 different musubis (unagi, spam, and bacon egg spam). Unlike the hand held size you'd normally get, you get a foil wrapped package with 2 pieces inside. Each one varies in price. I really like the unagi. The bacon egg and spam...eh. like the egg, but the bacon was an after thought. We got a 1/4 lb salmon poke and a 1/4 lb Hamachi poke. They both come with a side of rice (white or brown). Super fresh, so delicious 😋. I'd give it a 5/5. Hubby ordered Loco moco, laulau with Kailua pork, and mochiko pork plates. That's right, mochiko pork! They have chicken too but we wanted to try the pork. Loco moco was really hefty. Thick luscious gravy over the burger patty and sunny side up egg over rice. That put hubby in a 3hr food coma. 4.5/5. I wish there were a little pepper in the gravy. Mochiko pork was good but we didn't eat it right away so it got soggy. 3.5/5. Dad, who normal don't eat much meat really enjoyed and raved about the laulau kahlua pork plate. We bought other groceries and can't wait to make some Hawaiian meals of our own. Super fun experience. Hidden gem for sure.

Super delicious! Their spam musubi variations are delicious! Ordered their furikake wings and salmon. Definition of Japanese/Hawaiian comfort foods. The market is a bit small but they have everything you need. Jump over for lunch before the close. It’ll be worth your while!

Loco moco, please! I've been coming to Takahashi for years and their food never disappoints. The staff is super friendly and warm, and turnaround time on kitchen orders is pretty quick. My favorites here include the loco moco, kalua pork, and the edamame rice. Their poke is pretty solid too, nothing like the overdressed stuff you find at other poke stores in the area. The loco moco has luxurious gravy, two eggs, beef patty, rice, and a super cute turtle shaped piece of spam. The beef patty is savory with a hint of sweetness, making it stand out from other places' loco mocos. This dish is heavy, so make sure to schedule a nap right after. Since this store doubles as a grocery store too, I like trying the random new snacks and drinks I find here. The green tea cola was pretty good, and tasted almost exactly like Coca Cola! Parking is volatile. Some visits you might need to try your luck with street parking; other days you might snag a spot.

A selection of hot lunches can be ordered at the entrance so it'll be ready by the time you check out. Premade lunches are also available at the fridge. All the employees were very friendly. Store is very organized with being Covid compliant. The parking lot could get a little tight when multiple cars are exiting and entering at once.

This is a small marketplace that has old school staples. Interestingly enough it also has some good stuff that you would normally find in Hawaii. The big attraction of this place is the hot food and the ready to purchase food. For its price and what you get it is definitely worth it. The price for the food is around 10 usd and it is fresh. Like not just off the grill fresh but as in better ingredients fresh. If I could move back to the bay area I would definitely come back here

Came here on a Sunday afternoon at noon with my family and friends. The line wasn’t bad at all, maybe like three people in front of us. We had to wait maybe 10-15 minutes to get the food and found outdoor seating (which was limited) and parking (luckily since there wasn’t much space). Food: We got the Salmon belly musubi special and then Large Saimin and also the Salmon Poke with cucumber salad. The musubi definitely stood out as a really rich flavorful dish and it almost melted in my mouth. The Saimin was good, not stellar but it was very nourishing. Service: The waiters were very kind and patient and brought our food outside to us as we waited! Ambiance: It’s a small casual grocery market and not the fanciest of places — flies buzz around and it’s not easy to find spaces but if you’re on the go it’s perfect. Would recommend this place to anyone who’s driving from SF to the South Bay since it’s right off of the 101 highway!

The unagi/crawfish masubi is fire!! It's sweet and savory and melts in your mouth! Feels like a little shop in Hawaii in there. Parking is limited in their lot but you can park on surrounding streets.

The kindest people here! An example of a thoughtful gesture: at the register, my brother was holding onto something, and they gently offered to hold it for him as were checking out. They have a nice assortment of (mainly) Hawaiian goods.

Small Japanese grocery store with a deli/restaurant with it. You can order some food: mochiko chicken, spam masubis, pokes, etc. Everything we’ve had was delicious and proportion were decent. In the store, there’s a small fresh produce area and a frozen area. A larger area of imported Asian drinks and a few isles of Asian Snacks (a lot of it from Hawaii). I was looking for fresh mochi but didn’t find any and was a little disappointed. Prices are a little higher as a lot of goods was imported.

The food is good. The sauce of the salmon is unique and tasty. The service is quick. I come here every week. The parking lot can get full during lunch hours.

I love this place. It's got great Hawaiian essentials but I usually go to get musubis, poke or other items from the kitchen! They have a small outdoor seating area

No wonder it's been in business here for near a hundred years! Lots of Hawaiian besides Japanese specialties and staples. Did you know you can get handmade fresher Mochi here? How about strawberry chocolate?? Even cold drinks abound from unsweetened green tea to coffee I can alike the the vending machines in Okinawa off base

Absolute gem of a market, everyone working here was friendly and nice, and the best plate lunch I've had since being on Big Island. The premade food is all great too. Definitely will stop back in the next time I have to drive up to SF, it's worth the short detour.

Had a craving for musubi, poke and loco moco so we headed over early to this market. As you enter, place your hot food order and then pick up your cold items (poke, seaweed salad, mac salad, etc.) Near the register is a shelf for many musubi flavors. Unagi and smoked salmon is tasty. Rice is fresh, freshly wrapped musubi choices daily. You pay for the meal and they will call you when your order is ready. The workers are nice, you get your order within 5-10 min. It feels like you are in a Hawaiian market without the beach. There are about 4 tables outside to eat.

Best Hawaiian/Japanese market in the area, fish quality is excellent and prices are fair. Highly recommend trying the lunch plates and musubi as well!
