Bagsværd Church was designed in 1968 by Jørn Utzon (he designed the Sydney Opera House) but not completed in until 1976. This church is contemporary modern church architecture at its finest. The bright interior is complimented by natural light and white interior making it a very welcoming place to be. The soft and round vaulted ceiling lends itself to help the acoustics of the beautiful music of the organ and choir almost like the sounds are continually bouncing off of the walls and ceiling. The church is located in a suburb of Copenhagen and nestled in between tall, and majestic birch trees. The organ is beautiful and looks almost like a piece of art as the pipes protrude from the side of the wall. One may think that the building doesn’t resemble a church, especially by Danish standards, however once the bells start chiming, it is unmistakable that this is the place to be on a Sunday!

just the most incredible church by Jorn Utzon my favorite of all the architectural spots ive seen in copenhagen. the sequence of spaces, the material of the light wood and stone and concrete and glass really came together well. the quality of light--the glow on the inside tells you it's a good piece of architecture. one thing that really annoyed me that has nothing to do with the architecture is the guy who works there. the church closes at 4 and we got there at 3.40 and at 3.45 he told us he'll be closing in 5 minutes, and basically kicked us out ahead of the stated closing time. absolutely not doing his job well.

absolutely breathtaking church by Jorn Utzon. The rigid repetitive bays of the outer corridor ring don’t prepare you at all for the extremely sculptural white concrete of the main church interior. the lighting is also more straightforward in the outer circulation ring: pitched glass roofs. once again the main chapel space flips this expectation on its head with a completely concealed skylight, the light seeming to pour out of nowhere onto the surface of the concrete

Big contrast between the boxy exterior and the nave with a sculptural roof. The curvy ceiling successfully diffuses sunlight to give the interior an ambiance suited for church worships and services. Excellent destination for architecture pilgrimage of Jorn Utzon, the architect renowned for the Sydney Opera House design.

Breathtaking architecture. Cozy atmosphere. It only takes about 40mins from the heart of Copenhagen to get here. Truly worth the visit.

Unique low budget church with fantastic roof design. Better to visit when slightly cloudy

Stunning. An absolute gem. The exterior belies the magical interior. From the master of the curve. This is a fine example of mid/late C20 religious architecture. Calm, efficient, engaging. All this and more.

Very interesting church. The most unique church I have ever seen. And you would not even guess it's a church when looking at it from outside.
