Infuriating. We sought gelato on a dreary winter day for our 3 year old daughter who wanted two flavours: blue (unicorn) and yellow (vanilla). Kafka-esqsue tragedy followed. "Two flavours can only be served in a big cup." But her hands can only hold the small cup. Can we get two scoops in a small cup? "I'm sorry you can only get one flavour in the small cup." Can we get a half scoop of each in the small cup? "You need to buy a big cup." So we can only have one flavour? "Yes.". Ended up buying two single scoops in two small cups only to combine half of each which she could eat (she's 3). For a place that's meant to serve happiness, they dish out only misery. Reason given at the till when I expressed extreme frustration: "That's the owner's rule". Seems like a good summary for the story of South Africa. I have half a mind to invest in the place so as to decide whether to change the rule or shut the place down. One scoop does not fit all. Avoid out of principle.

Pity I cannot give them zero stars. Firstly, They should train their staff to provide service with a smile. Secondly, if customers took the time to stand in the queue at least offer them the courtesy of a moment, to decide what they want before rushing off to serve the customers behind them!! Thirdly, after purchasing 4 overpriced gelatos, in my opinion, it was a totally underwhelming experience. I’m accustomed to much better and will take my my money elsewhere in future. Let’s hope we’ve seen the last of “lockdowns” because then establishments such as these will quickly know the value of “local” customers and treat them with the same respect as they do foreigners.

Fab ice cream in a myriad of flavours. Eye popping stuff, we tried the Snickers and Coconut. Both were very enjoyable. Looking forward to trying more in the future.

Completely over priced for what you get. We paid R151 for 4 scoops of ice cream. The flavours were Unicorn (bubble gum) and Oreo in the one cup and Lindt Mint and Snickers in the other. I have no problem paying higher than usual prices but then you would expect to get what you pay for. The ice cream was virtually flavourless and in my opinion, Sinful and Kristen's Kickass Ice Cream are way better. Gelato Mania will in all likelihood not being seeing us soon again.

Made my day - an awesome ice cream parlour with divine flavours. My recent visit with family to Gelato in Hermanus really enjoyable. Will definitely visit again.

Cute ice-cream store with a lot of character. The staff were friendly and there were many options to choose from, including vegan ice-creams. Their prices are quite high. I found the pistachio scoop to be pretty average. The flavour was not as strong as expected and it was not very creamy. The dark chocolate was good though.

Enjoyed my toblerone gelato. It was lovely taking a walk on the beach and coming here for a treat afterwards. There's a large variety of flavours. They serve coffee and drinks too. My kids enjoyed their Oreo flavour.

A travesty to call this Gelato - simply does not deserve the name or price of ~R45 per scoop! A quick-melting, low density mess with watered down flavour. To boot a rude person behind the counter this afternoon (15 Dec, Hermanus store) that told me she would have to take my sugar cone back if I wanted a paper cup to hold my slushy ice cream. Never again.

As far as Ice Cream stores go this has a big variety of flavors so a must do when in Hermanus. The only factor is the price but they got to pay rent somehow.

The gelato is good, a bit to sweet for my taste. Unfriendly to kids, they are not able to provide an empty cup that two kids can share such a big scoop.

Really nice ice cream parlour. I cannot have dairy so only sorbet. If only you had more of a variety. Nonetheless I really enjoyed my Strawberry and lemon sorbet. My partner had the Strawberry and oreo ice cream and it was really good.

Their ice creams are yummy and delicious so 5 stars to that! However the staff unfortunately are not welcoming at all…a constant frown on the face of the staff and the guys on the cash counter makes you feel like that they are purely there to do business !

Below average offering from this branch along with above average pricing = absolutely not recommended. And to round off a disappointing experience there are staff who seemingly do not care about their customers. Lazy communication and a clear message that you are a nuisance rather than a contribution to their revenue. (This was on a quiet day!)
