Rudest waiter I’ve ever met. Evicted us from our table when I took a 3 year old to the restaurant’s external portakabin toilet with their key - they knew we were there. We returned 3 minutes later to no apologies and told we’ve been moved to a table in the back. Appalled. Go to The Rock instead.

One of the best kept secrets in Hermanus. If you are up for fresh seafood and have a massive appetite try these guys out. The portions are very generous and the menu accommodates all preferences.

I have eaten at Quayside Cabin three times and have been pleasantly surprised by there food and excellent service. Me being a chef for 40 odd years and eaten all over the world, I rate their food top notch!! Keep it up, you have a good thing going. See you soon

Just waiting for food poisoning to kick in. Oysters tasted rotten, fish and calamari were ok. Chips in old stale oil inedible. Service was worst I’ve had in South Africa ever. Venue fit out and vibe was spectacular. Ashame the girl didn’t want to be there serving us and food was terrible. Was excited to eat there.

The food was devine! Truly! The waitress very attentive! Most interesting Wine labels on the Villion wines . . . great gift . . . a conversation pieces. The paper maché shark caught my eye! Make a memory with good friends and family!

Very large portions and delicious fish options. Varied menu and reasonable service. Pleasant seaside location at the new harbour. Only hard wooden benches though. Book ahead during the holiday season.

Was a delicious meal at a well-priced and well-decorated restaurant. The Hake was not greasy and oily like you might expect for fried fish. The grilled Cob was so tender it was like Lobster. The Shrimp and Calamari were also good. I would highly recommend one of their tasty sea food platters. Their kids meal was also good with fried strips of fish. Not the average frozen fish, but very high quality fresh fish like the rest of the fish. I’ll be sure to visit Quayside Cabin the next time I visit the sea side town of Hermanus which is a great whale-watching destination about 1.5 hours from Cape Town.

Rudely sent away as we did not book, whilst more than half of the tables were open. Were told take aways will take 90 minutes to prepare.

We have eaten there because we were hungry after the whale watching tour. A bis mistake. The 4 of us who had fish and chips here all got diarrhea and had to vomit. They missed a lot in the following nature lodge because they had to recover.

Absolutely delicious seafood platters. We were able to share the seafood platter for 2 between three of us. The waitress went the extra mile for us. Cozy atmosphere. Definitely one of our local favourites that doesn’t disappoint!

We had an excellent lunch. After arriving very early for a lunch booking, 11:30 and the restaurant had only just opened, we were greeted with friendly faces and a happy atmosphere. Delicious dishes with my absolute favourite being mussels with a green Thai curry sauce. This is an old favourite of Hermanus and is as good as it has always been.

This place never ever disappoints! It takes immense expertise to prepare food this good, every single time! I would definitely recommend this place, food, atmosphere and service has been outstanding. Thanks guys!

Rustic restaurant on the waterside. Plenty of parking. Seafood platter was tasty and substantial. Service was okay, not great. Getting into the restaurant was a problem as people who had booked tables had to stand in the same queue as those trying to get takeaways.

Incredible rude welcoming, quite lunch, my wife and I wanted to sit with a view of a Harbour, the lady dealt with us very abruptly and instructed us to sit at a small table as the only table with a view was a 6seater, however there was no tables waiting neither did she suggest we should move if a large table comes, I simply did not feel welcome and left. Must say as a restaurant owner I am finding hospitality in Hermanus very arrogant and abrupt.

The perfect little spot, I gotta say having gotten to know the people and it turning into my Sunday morning routine this little quaint restaurant has become one of my favorite spots in Hermanus, amazing food and what a great team, a must do if you are in the area, try the Squid heads!!!!! And the views are awesome, strategically places on the harbor and right for some summer fun

We ordered the Platter for two. The snoek samosas and fish cakes were delicious, however the chips was fried in old oil, the words of the waiter. Small pieces of hake and the fried rice was old. Will never dine there again.

The location is good and the food is okay. However I felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable with the rude greeting and appalling service we received from one of the two servers on duty. It set a very sour tone for for the rest of our lunch. A little bit of friendliness doesn’t cost nearly as much as the below average food.

Nice spot, vintage interior, full of whale bones and harbour decorations. Small little space. Everyone at the table was happy with their food. The fried prawns were by far the best, absolutely tasty and fresh, but sadly had some poop string in each of the 3 prawns(not the end of the world for me, but not ideal) . The cob "catch of the day" was definitely frozen, but still tasty and not dry, lacked a bit of texture. I had the Thai mussels which I found lacking in flavour a little. The mussels were fresh and delicious, but not nearly enough sauce to slurp up which I like. Fair prices with beautiful views, but can definitely improve. I would eat there again and give it a try, but for me I was hoping for a nice an punchy Thai mussel sauce having enjoyed the same dish in Thailand a few times. Giving it 4 stars because the overall experience was good and food was decent, will give it a try again one day.

One of the gems in Hermanus...food is amazing and the service good! We took our family from Gauteng there and had a whale of a time while the kids played. NB..you just HAVE to try their 'giant seafood platter'! Value for money and delicious!

If you are looking for a good seafood place in Hermanus, then the Quayside Cabin is the place for you. They have a large selection of dishes to choose from. As we were a group 6 we decided to go for the platter for 6. It was definitely the right decision - firstly it looked impressive when it arrived, and secondly it was filled with various different seafood plus sides so everyone could get a taste of everything they like. It was so much that we struggled to finish it all. We saw some of the smaller platters going to other tables and they also looked pretty good. The Quayside Cabin is located in the New Harbour and is quite small so I definitely recommend that you make a booking, especially if you go over the summer period or during the festive season - we saw a number of people being turned away. The restaurant is decorated in a true rustic sea-cabin style and has a very energetic atmosphere and buzz. They also allow for corkage so if you have been to one of the local wine farms and bought some white wine that pairs well with seafood you can take it with. We had such a great time that I am sure we will be back there soon. This is a hidden gem, off the beaten track and a must for seafood lovers.

The food is great tasting and serves very generous portions. Definitely add it to your bucket list, if you are looking for a quaint and cosy dining experience.

The venue was great. The ambience wonderful. service good.food quality and flavored amazing . Especially the calamari. Corkage very reasonable. A very satisfying experience.

Fried calamari is their speciality, and I can tell you it's amazing. Portion size is generous and the food is good. This spot is a no fuss zone, unpretentious and a down right good place to go.
