Their wonderful hostess squeezed us in outside for a night of music over a absolutely phenomenal seafood platter. So glad we made the stop here! Would come 100 times over!

This Fisherman Cottage is 180 years old! Wow! The atmosphere was so unique and lovely, the staff was friendly and the food was so good.

Excellent Menu. The Sweet potato, stuffed with Date Cream Cheese, topped with curried courgettes & mixed seeds was out of this world.

A very genuine old fisherman's cottage from 1800 now turned into an unpretentious little bistro. Nice food, nothing exciting but good! Happy helping service. The interior is cool and laid back!

The seafood here is phenomenal 😋 the staff are friendly the prices are great and the atmosphere just amazing, if I ever pass through here again I will definitely be back. Every meal I had here was absolutely 💯 👌

Lovely dinner at Fisherman's cottage. Such a quaint, cozy place. It's been open for 180 years, they say and i wish it stays open for just a long. Food was divine. Atmosphere charming. Our waitron, Mike was very friendly. My partner had the pan grilled hake and rice ( There's also a beer battered option). I had the fresh Dorado with a citrus sauce served with a brocolli infused rissotto and japanese Mushroom. A truly gastronomic experience. We savoured every bite and finished every morsel on our plate. What a first dinner for us in Hermanus.

We were in a big group and service was not up to the mark. My food was great (Linefish of the day - monkfish). But some others were not extremely happy with their food. The atmosphere is nice and cosy inside.

We enjoy good fresh local seafood and were looking for an authentic local experience in Hermanus that want too (tourist) pricey and found this gem. Beautifully cooked locally sourced seafood in a cosy atmosphere with great staff. Highly recommended!!

We were on our way to Wine per Glass and the amazing smell caught our attention. Greeted very friendly in a full seating, and great atmosphere inside. Our waiter was attentive and helped with menu and recommendations. The owner went out of his way to secure a specific bottle of red for us. Curry, sole was superb. Great food if you know what to order. The wrap is amazing. There is also a kids play area next to the outside tables. It is a pity that smokers sit and smoke right next to the kids.

Fishermans cottage is home to some of the most incredible staff, delicious coffee and the best live music in the overberg. Always happy as a clam when at fishermans cottage 🥰

Lovely atmosphere in the cottage and the staff is SUPER nice. Make a reservation, we called the same day and we’re lucky. Really good fish and seafood — we had the fish platter for 2, which was amazing!

Fantastic! One week later, we are still thinking about the tasty red roman with a creamy fennel risotto and deliciously seasoned carrots and broccoli. It was one of the culinary highlights along the Garden Route! We would definitley recommend it to everybody passing by Hermanus. Next to the amazing food, the restaurant was also situated on a lovely and calm piazza which made the stay even more enjoyable. Thank you very much for this experience!

WOW!! A must visit when in Hermanus. I had fish while my boyfriend had steak and both were incredible would 10/10 recommend. Service was also amazing with great recommendations/ friendly staff.

Lovely place! Dropped by with a few friends last night. We got recommended the catch of the day which was the seabream and the kabeljau. Both were served on a risotto that would have been good enough for a shandalone dish. The oysters were very decent as well. Staff is generally friendly.

We enjoyed our evening at this quaint restaurant. Seafood is of good quality. I had the hake & chiosi. Mussels were so good. The seafood curry pot is excellent. Friendly and efficient service. Parking is available at the square. Make a reservation to avoid disappointment as the restaurant has limited seating.

My husband and I ate here last night. We had the seafood curry. It was well presented but it had entirely no flavour of curry and no salt at all. It was mainly calamari steak meat which was tasteless. I had 2 empty mussel shells and found a small mussel in my dish. My husband had 5 empty shells and found 2 mussels in his meal. The fish was off cuts. I had a delicious cape Malay fish curry at CTFM for 30% cheaper that was packed with flavour. Response to owner: your restaurant is so small, every table is involved in any engagement with the staff, you want me to make an announcement about bad food, lol. Your staff never asked about our food or experience. They are responsible for putting out bad food that is so very poor that no one should have to draw it to their attention. Deflecting to me is just sad. The service was perfunctory and disinterested. Had a great seafood curry at restaurant 1904 this evening for R185.00.

The food was absolutely divine. We came for Sunday lunch and we ordered the 2 player, one for R795 and the other for R395. Compliments to the chef enjoyed the lined fish and sardines. Oyesters were also great. The platter come with rice, chips and salad. The Fisherman's Cottage is 180 years old and it still looks absolutely stunning. If you want to have flavour and variety of sea food, I definitely recommend that you visit The Fisherman's Cottage!

Delicious seafood curry - the best I’ve even had. Perfect handmade roti with it. Nice romantic setting and great service
