We read the reviews of this place and was looking forward to a great meal and experience. We where sadly disappointed. The Lagoon had a bad odor which put us off our meal.. (This could be something natural, but not dinning conditions). The food failed us and did not meet the reviews.. (reviews need to honest!!!).. We have had Westcoast food before, however the food served here was low quality and tasteless. The best dish is the bread! I wont recommend this place for food. Major improvements are needed to justify the cost per head. BTW.. the Host is great.

Not your usual dinner, which makes this place so unique. Took the whole family which includes 9 adults and 4 children and everyone had a blast. Great atmosphere and all the food you can eat. Make sure to pace yourself to have room for the vleis potjie.

Wow! Wow! Wow! I don't have words.... This was an awesome outing and fantastic experience. If you dont do this, you are missing big time!

First time visit and the restaurant did not disappoint. Not your average restaurant but the vibe is electric and the hosts were hilarious, entertaining and welcoming. The 7 course meal was a delight. We will be visiting all their venues in future 😁😋

Quote probably the best dining experience in the Western Cape. Delicious seafood and meat "buffet" in a magnificent scenic spot on the lagoon. The atmosphere is unique with the host and hostess promising one will not leave without being totally sated! Good old South African hospitality at its best

What an amazing experience, from the very moment you walk in to the restaurant you can tell that this isn’t going to be a normal restaurant experience. From the sand under your feet to the view of the water behind you and the roaring fire in front you, the atmosphere here is one of family, friends and damn good food! Everything is in excess and from the start you are assured by the host that nothing runs out. Be very careful though as you can easily fall prey to the overindulgence of a single course, filling up on the amazing garlic mussels, snoek with the sweetest sweet potatoes or the incredible home baked pot breads that are all available in abundance. This is a place that will forever be in my heart as a place that embodies the South-African and Afrikaans spirit and a must visit for anyone visiting the west coast!

A big thank you to Gustave and the staff for a wonderful lunch yesterday. It was our first time, and it was amazing. The setting, the vibe of the place, was just wonderful. Lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Beautiful place to chill and enjoy a great seafood feast. 😋 Covered area, great protection from the wind. Play area for children. Every meal was well prepared and absolutely delicious. 💯 Drinks to quench the thirsty. Lekka potbrood. Great place to have a chilled breakfast or lunch.

Spent Sunday at Vette Mossel with friends, local and from Spain. What an absolutely brilliant experience! Food was awesome, venue spectacular- but Gustav and Charne know how to entertain and showcase South African hospitality!! Special place.

My wife and I along with a large group of family members recently had the pleasure of dining at De Vette Mossel, and wow what an experience. Gustav and his lovely wife have done an amazing job to bring a truly unique dining experience to visitors and locals alike. The location itself is almost like a small resort with a large lit fire pit in the middle for all to enjoy, a dock that stretches out into the bay, a walk up bar , and a large play area for kids that includes a tree fort, a zip line, see saws and swings. These are but a few examples of what is all included on the grounds the restaurant sits and it truly feels like the ultimate family Braai or BBQ for us North Americans. The dining area itself sits under a large canopy where the ground is white sand and beach signs and objects hand from the walls. Before the food is served Gustav does a great job giving the crowd a warm and hilarious welcome. The food comes in courses and each dish is incredibly delicious. Make sure you safe your Mussel Shells because they will become your fork spoon and knife! The entire event takes 2-3 hours, you will leave full and happy with memories you will not forget anytime soon. Thank you for such a wonderful experience. Adam and Nina from Canada

Great view - self service and when it comes to the food it’s not only all you can eat, but tastes brilliant too. If eating from paper plates and using a mussel shell as cutlery is not your scene, you can always bring your own. Also, no drinks are available except for coffee, so be sure to bring your own 😉. Love the vibe and the food is well worth it.

What an experience! They deserve 5stars from our family! Staff were excellent and friendly! Food to die for!! Every cent worth the money! The venue sooo relaxing and nice! The youngsters played their hearts out in a save environment! Please, please go and visit!

One of the most West Coast experiences you will ever get. A no nonsense, tons of food experience with an incredible host! The restaurant design is true to its origins and there are stunning facilities for the kids to play while you eat!
