A
family
favourite
we
have
been
here
multiple
times
over
the
years
and
we
keep
going
back.
The
food
is
incredibly
delicious
and
made
in
traditional
afrikaans
South
African
fashion.
It
is
filling
and
hearty
and
brings
back
childhood
memories
of
Sunday
lunches
with
family.
The
kitchen
is
not
shy
with
the
portion
sizes
either.
Bread
is
baked
daily
in
a
coal
stove
(out
of
this
world
scrumptious
with
farm
fresh
butter).
The
coffee
is
"kan
koffie",
usually
made
by
boiling
coffee
grinds
in
a
tin
kettle
over
a
fire,
coffee
like
this
has
it's
own
unique
aroma
and
flavour.
There
are
a
HUGE
variety
of
items
available
to
buy
ranging
from
preserves
and
food,
to
wine
and
port
and
even
cast
iron
pots
and
pans.
It
is
a
one
of
a
kind
farm
stall
experience.
The
staff
are
always
friendly
and
welcoming.
Dont
miss
the
giant
table
and
chairs
outside.
One
of
the
best
times
to
visit
is
when
the
Canola
fields
are
blooming.
It
looks
like
a
blanket
of
yellow
as
far
as
the
eye
can
see.
In
winter
there
is
an
open
wood
fire
in
the
restaurant
keeping
things
toasty.
It
is
well
worth
a
visit
nestled
between
Botrivier
and
Caledon
on
the
N2
out
of
Gordon's
Bay.
The
venue
is
family
friendly
but
this
is
not
a
"kids
play
area,
slurpy
restaurant".
Time
slows
down
here
and
you
spend
time
having
a
'lekker
kuier'.
Dont
forget
that
back
in
the
day
farm
stalls
supplied
everything
from
light
fittings
to
drawer
handles.
You
will
find
some
gorgeous
gems
hidden
here
to
include
in
your
home
decor.
Every
corner
holds
a
new
discovery.
I
hope
this
little
treasure
never
changes
because
in
our
fast
paced
world
we
need
to
escape
to
places
like
Dassiesfontein
for
a
break.
Well
done
to
the
team
who
run
it!!
