Finally! I have found a restaurant that makes chicken livers better than I can! Wonderful staff, friendly and attentive. Such amazing prices compared to Hermanus! Don't drive past without stopping!

Didn’t stay just visited twice, once for a drink then Rugby and breakie in the morning. Service was friendly but a little slow at times but that’s probably because of load-shedding and Rugby so was understandable. Very accommodating and was a fun place to grab a Bot River Lager. Colonial old style decor which is perfect for a small town environment.will definitely visit again.

Best curry I have ever had! This was an accidental discovery. We were going to visit another restaurant nearby but Botrivier Hotel's stoep looked so beautiful (recently renovated) that we decided to eat there instead. The staff were friendly and very quick. They recommended the curry which ended up being SO good that we went back again the next Friday and it was just as superb. This is going to be a frequent Friday activity for us. Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and superb food, what more could you want?

We never stayed at the hotel, but went there for lunch. The upgrades to the front area and restaurant is looking so good, and congratulations to management for what they are doing to restore this historic property, and is becoming a true gem for Botriver. The food was excellent and friendly service, just load shedding made it a long wait, and would be great if the team updated on how long the wait will be. We love this spot as well, as we can take our fur baby with us, and the meals are affordable, and best draight beer. Look forward to a return visit in the near future. 😀

Beautifully revamped! Best, crispiest and tastiest samosas to snack on.

Had lunch there yesterday. Service was a bit haphazard. I was surprised by the sheer extent of the menu and look forward to trying a whole bunch of other items. The burger I had was good, patty and chips excellent.. It's just a pity the roll was so darn stale. And I always think a pickled cucumber finishes off a burger perfectly, but that's just me... 😅 And there weren't any... Would probably have had another round of drinks if the wait staff had passed by...

a 36th birthday celebration with family cut short. we were out having a very easy night at the hotel being served by really smart staff we were notified that load shedding was starting at 10pm and that we can continue with the pool game if we buy another round. The so called owner came in to cash up and the mood changed for the bad. There was a heated discussion between him and the friendly barmen. Being in high spirits and a happy mood, i asked the barman if everything is ok? The barman avoided the question and removed himself from the conversation. The owner then saw this as an opportunity to jump forward and backwards with serious contradicting statements and accusations that if we are not happy we must leave and he will refund the tray of drinks that was served ten minutes prior. “thats a first in any bar” The barman on numerous occasions said that they are open till we leave or 2am when the liquor license ends. The owner then went on to raise his voice and definitely could not control his emotions, that we should leave as the staff are tired as they have been working from 7am - 10:30 pm when we decided its time to leave as a good night had been spoilt in anyway. Takeaway cups were offered to take the drinks off premises which is absolutely ridiculous. we did not take them up on this service… on our way out i greeted the staff and thanked them for their good service and also saying they deserve a better working environment. The owner then said we should go the the shabeen and that we are not welcome back. ( this was the only funny part of the altercation ) The hotel should be a hub for Botrivier and a draw card for tourists and day visitors, but when a owner of a hotel treats customers and staff in such a fowl manner. im sorry, i cannot recommended this to anyone, to the staff and town’s demise.

The place is amazing. The stuff is friendly with nice jazz music playing in the background. Nice wine variety, visiting the place is good thing you can do for yourself. There's even a bar 😛

What a quaint, cosy establishment. We stopped in Botrivier for coffee with friends and were very disappointed by the first place we stopped at. We moved on to the hotel and were very glad that we did. Warm fire, great hot chocolate, clean with very friendly staff. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful location, very helpful and friendly staff but horrible and rude owner. I feel sorry for the people who work there as they don't deserve the poor treatment and working environment.

Excellent and highly recommend a meal here!! The service and team working here are so dedicated, professional and friendly. The food is supreme and well priced for generous portions! The menu is vast and caters for all diets and preferences. The newly renovated building pays homage to the history of the space, whilst simultaneously making it a more open and enjoyable space. A wonderful lunch stop on a road trip, or meal out if you are staying close by. Watch this space, because it is clear that the new ownership intends to further improve and grow this establishment.

Peaceful and serene. Newly upgraded. Neat and clean. Food well priced for full plate of food. Menu has options for every taste. Bar unfortunately does not stock semi sweet wines. Dry white and red only. Enjoyed light beer with our lunch. Friendly staff and service. Will definitely visit again soon.

Off the beaten track old style hotel stoep restaurant with hearty meals and friendly service. Lots of parking and popular with cycling and biking groups. Sport shown on big screen tv.

6-stars for the coldest beer around. I know it is a pub, but a little more to keep the kids busy would have been great and given us enough time to have another fantastic lager

We met up with family holidaying in the area for a late afternoon coffee on the huge front stoep. While we were waiting we shared a delicious Bot Hot Basket. Lovely, chilled vibe.

It's the towns local (hotel). The menu is limited, pizzas are good and as hotel is owned by Indians the curry is expectantly agreeable. The rooms are waiting to be renovated (about 5/6) years now. If you are looking for a drink and meal it's fine. The alternative is Mannies Portuguese restraunt across the parking lot. This is more "formal", i.e. shoes required

This is a great old hotel. Wonderful place to stop and have a drink after a long drive from Cape Town. The service is always great, staff always smiling and helpful.

I had dinner at the Botrivier Hotel and was pleasantly surprised with their delicious Butter Chicken Curry. It was really flavourful. If you're picky about your rooti, like I am, then I would suggest you rather go with the Basmati rice. But, the staff were friendly and efficient. No complaints from me.

We had drinks and hot chips. Our grandson entertained us on the stage. The staff were friendly and fun. The hotel has been taken over by new owners and the pool will be repaired, hopefully in time for summer!

Stumbled upon this little gem whilst searching for food. Such a lot of history here. The curry was lovely, my daughter had the kiddies chicken strips and chips, portions were generous. Service was great. Had the pleasure of meeting the new owner, good luck with your venture, You are off to a good start. What a find after a night of disappointment. Thank you.

We are locals from nearby and decided on an early dinner. While the hotel is undergoing renovations, the service and food were excellent. Our waiter Victor was friendly and efficient. The other staff were also really great. Once the renovations are complete this old beauty of a hotel is going to be glorious I am sure. We all had the Bot burgers which were outstanding. Renovations are set to be completed by 16th December 2022 so if you can handle some dust in the meantime....its really worth the visit.

New Owners are busy renovating the entire property. Hopefully finished by December 2022. Going to look amazing when they are done. Looking forward to the new menu.

We had lunch here today. The food took forever to arrive, but we were not in a hurry and when it came it was very good. Simple pub-style food, burgers and the like, but everything we had was good or better than normal from such a menu. One interesting addition to the normal food offering was their three curries; I had one and it was really excellent. The place is a bit of a building site out the back, but the front-of-house is finished and is a real addition to the small town of Bot River.

Our large group had lunch on the lovely veranda of this old, but recently renovated hotel. The atmosphere was wonderful and the food was even better. Would seriously recommend a lunch at this beautiful, historic spot.
