Great service, awesome food...

The atmosphere was very tranquil and having a tea cozy for my pot of tea, was awesome as i had hot tea throughout my visit. The food was good and the people warm and welcoming.

All I can say about this restaurant is OMG. Will be back whenever we visit Hermanus. In fact the restaurants is in itself the reason we will visit Hermanus from now on. What a find.

Absolutely loved this little hideaway. The food was excellent, the owners are always around and lovely people. The waitress even remembered how I took my coffe the second time I went. Brilliant

Excellent service and food. Calamari stips and snails for starters. Oxtail and Duck for mains, no room for dessert, the lemon meringue looked good though.

I became suddenly unwell without any warning and ran to what I thought was the bathroom, to discover too late it was a storeroom. The waiters on duty could not have been kinder and showed immediate concern. I of course offered to clean up after myself but Joseph insisted he would do it. I gave him all the cash in my purse as thanks. Then the owner appeared - and without finding out any details - made a deliberately loud announcement about how unacceptable it was for them to have to clean up. I therefore explained I had offered to clean; I had given a generous tip; she merely repeated her loud statement, failing by to acknowledge any of what I had said. When I pointed out that I was a customer (an ill one!) and didn’t deserve to be talked to that way, I was told she was the owner, as if that justified her rudeness. Fortunately for her, the person I was with will return. I certainly will not. She deliberately shamed me, at a time when I already felt great shame. There is little more humiliating than being ill in public and instead of kindness, I was shamed. Kindness matters more than good coffee.

Lovely to find a place who still offer filter coffee as an option. The breakfast is bacon,egg, sausage, toast, marmalade and juice. If you are lucky enough to be around there. Please try it! Be patient it is worth the wait. Come back tell me I am lying!! Thank you.

Love going here when I’m in Hermanus. Tucked away from all the crowds, but still convenient. Small, intimate space. A place the locals hang out at. Friendly staff, great wine, and one very delicious lemon meringue!

Lovely food in a lovely spot, it's a pity that the owner insists on being there, as he is not only rude but also a little aggressive to young women. Started off with snide comments when we asked our ( very nice) waitor for our card machine reciept for tax, the owner came over to start belittling us about our careers ( one of us is literally a tax consultant) and our earnings ( a little left-of-field). He then proceeded to lecture us on how to evade tax using offshore accounts, when we ignored him he proceeded to follow us out the restaurant calling us little girls. Not really sure what his issue was as we tipped well and sat quietly eating our lunch and the waiter was friendly and seemed satisfied, clearly he doesn't like giving card machine slips? Or just really doesn't like women.

Very warm and cozy restaurant with good food and friendly service. We had potato skins - it was great. Nice filter coffee.

The place is nice and cosy but the cook or kitchen lady is so rude and has so much attitude. Waiter a young guy and other front of house lady was very nice tho.

Delicious food, great value for money. A little dated or "quaint" but overall good experience. It was busy and well supported, which I always think speaks volumes about a place.

Excellent service. We were there for breakfast with my wife's birthday and the spirit and food excelent. I always enjoy JP a lot as our waiter. Good sense of humor.

Awesome family run restaurant with great food that in the evenings at least is a change from the "standard" offerings on the seafront

Had a really amazing Friday evening!!very friendly and professional!I will recommend this restaurant for a great atmosphere, really really great food!!

I had the Asian duck and my wife had the salmon, prawn and dill pasta. The duck was beautifully cooked. The stir fry veg and rice complimented the dish well, but there was nothing really holding it together as ASIAN. The flavors just weren't pronounced enough. TG it didn't have some sweet sauce on, but it really could have used 'something' Asian.. and the choice of Asian countries is so immense. Even a fusion Asian would have done.. 😅 The pasta was extremely tasty. Expected the dill in the sauce but got some strange little bowl of dill sauce on the side. Trouble with pasta dishes is that they're all just so samet after a few mouthfuls. Not dissing the CT here, just saying in general. Was a bit surprised that she ordered it anyway. Service was great, friendly and efficient and the setting and location outside in the courtyard was fabulous on a balmy summer eve... We'll definitely be back to try some other dishes.

The hollandaise (although congealed) and soft eggs were pretty good, but the overcooked slithers of bacon on almost-burnt white bread roll toast and 30 mins + wait time on a quiet Wednesday morning are the reason for 3 stars. The 3rd is for the nice ambience.

The food was good and the atmosphere is fantastic if you wish to get away from the Hermanus hustle and bustle. Marshal is an exemplary waiter, he ran back and forth for us even though we never intended to make him do so. The food is well priced and I would visit again. Only thing was the floor manager or owner never came past to check on us during the 1 and half hour visit but chose to go to all the other regular tables

Parking is a problem which prevents one to enjoy this establishment. Nice treats with perfect scones and tea served in a teapot. Service is satisfactory.

Simply love the place. Quite cozy, affordable, with great food and superb service. This is a must stop when one is in Hermanus.
