We went to Milkwood for breakfast. Upon arriving, there was no-one at the entrance taking Covid precautions. We found a table and sat down. Eventually the waiter came, didn't bother to wipe down the table for us either. Extremely grumpy and unwelcoming. We received our drinks order and placed our food order. For the next 40 minutes, we waited for food and the waiter didn't even come to the table to explain there were delays or ask if we wanted to order more drinks. I got up to look for the owner or manager to address the poor service, to find there was no owner or manager available, the head waiter (1 of 2) available was in charge. I explained to him that we were disappointed in the service and went back to the table to wait. The waiter came out again and I ordered a cold drink. About 5 minutes later the food finally arrived, but no cold drink. After 10 minutes it had still not arrived, so I got up to go and fetch one myself. Even after complaining about the bad service, we were still being treated poorly. We had to go inside to ask the waiter for our bill and while I was trying to pay the owner arrived. I tried to explain the issues to her, but she lashed out at me from the onset. Told me I was rude. She has gone on to call me obnoxious and a bully. Why were we upset? Simply because of bad service, instead of addressing the issues, the owner rather decides to address this by insisting it is her patrons fault. I strongly recommend you do not visit this place, it will end in disappointed. Bad service, poor value for money on portions. Owner with a very bad attitude

New management are really getting their teeth into this restaurant. New owner, Petri, already has two successful restaurants in Hermanus, Pear Tree and Chard, and Milk on the Beach is on it's way to join these. Friendly professional staff and an investment in the infrastructure are already showing positively. A new menu is on its way soon and good local wines and beers compliment the food. The views from this restaurant are awesome and the atmosphere is now buzzing again.

I took my mum to Milk for lunch yesterday. Rodney was our lovely server. The place was very busy and I got the feeling they were short staffed but this wasn't a problem as I could have whiled away the afternoon enjoying the seaview. The food was very tasty :- best sardines on toast I've had. Mum's Tina was perfectly seared. The baked apple, blue cheese and honeycomb dessert was really tasty and quite different. I'll definitely be back to explore the menu on a warmer day!

Love this place and the whole vibe that the founder is trying to keep. A village eatery with great food, excellent waitrons but still very easy going. You can join for dinner or simply have a beer or gin after being at the beach.

This restaurant exceeded our expectations! A simple meal of fish and chips was absolutely delicious. Others in our group had linefish and calamari and were also completely impressed by the high standard. Staff were friendly and efficient, the location is amazing ... Loved it! We will be back! 💜

What a wonderful restaurant overlooking the beautiful Onrus beach and lagoon. They have a variety of food available from the Kitchen Bar, Waffle Shack and tuck shop. Great service and lovely fresh food

I went there for lunch with some friends on a windy Sunday afternoon. Positives: We got a Salmon Mango Bowl and a Hawaiian Chicken Bowl. They were delicious and filling. All the ingredients were fresh and worked harmoniously to create a great dish. The mango paired well with my salmon and the chicken was tender and flavourful. The sauces commented the bowls well. Negatives: We also got the fried fish and calamari combo. The fish was crispy, fluffy and tender but the calamari was chewy. They both were under-seasoned and the food got cold quite quickly. Their Pina Colada was strong but too bitter. I would recommend a splash of lemonade to go with it. Overall, we had a good lunch with friendly staffs. The restaurant was well-decorated with beautiful views and it's a great place to enjoy a well-cooked meal.

I've been here before, but not since the new owners took over and did they make this place into a little gem. With views over the ocean, mountains and the lagoon, there is beauty in every direction. Few good beers and draughts on tap and good wine selection. We had small plates, firstly the deep fried Sushi was delicious, well balanced and bursting with flavour. The baitfish was my favourite. Quite fishy, which I admit won't be for everyone, but delicious deep fried whole baitfish. Crispy, crunchy and packed with fatty goodness. Served with a swirl of what tasted like pesto, mayo and a ginger emulsion. Really good place and reasonable with their prices. Great service and friendly waiters. If you want a beautiful view and good food, definitely the spot to be.

They serve a very tasty English breakfast and the cappuccino is fantastic. I wouldn’t bother with the baked goods, the muffins we had were dry and tasteless. The view is quite pretty.

Seeing as it is walking distance from home it is perfect. The location is spot on with great views of the lagoon, beach and sea. We opted for a selection of the small bites. They were rather good. The glass of wine seemed rather small. I asked for ale and was served lager. There is confusion in SA as to what constitutes ale vs lager. Will I go back? Hopefully far more often now that I have experienced its delights.

This restaurant has a great social vibe and perfect spot atop the beach. Ordered the calamari, mussels & some oysters - the food was nice and portions are good. The peppermint crisp tiramisu dessert wasn’t as expected though & didn’t hit the spot.

This has always been a great place for any type of meal. It is a smallish menu but always very good selection. They also have a pretty good wine selection. The fact that it is right on the sea is awesome, and their wafflea are amazing. Would highly recommend going here if you are in Onrus.

Milk pleasantly surprised us with its delicious and crunchy calamari, paired perfectly with a light side salad and Aperol Spritz. The bustling atmosphere didn't hinder the good service, leaving us happy customers.

Lovely place. Fantastic setting and cool concept. The bottom area overlooking the river offers options for different waffels, hotdogs and loaded fries which you order at the counter.

We popped in for a quick drink and some sushi. The Aperol Spritz was good, not great, Old Harbour Lager is always a winner and the Tempura Crunch Sushi was awesome. The view is stunning.

If you love great food, The Milkwood is the place to go!! And what a location. Unbeatable. Absolutely amazing breakfasts, so good, we went twice in a row. I understand these are new owners, 6 days in. They had to deal with load shedding and hooking up a generator, yet still produced outstanding food and the service you would expect in a Michelin starred restaurant. The waitron with gold braids was first class. Sadly we return to England but we will most certainly be coming back. Highly recommend.

We visited them for breakfast and I have to admit there is something special about enjoying your morning coffee while you have a beautiful view of the beach. This quaint restaurant has inside as well as outside (under cover) seating options, and as we didn't make a booking we were lucky to get a table outside with a view, as they were very busy and seem to be very popular with the locals. Our food was tasty and beautifully presented, however the service was a bit slow and we spent quite a bit of time trying to catch the attention of the staff to assist us. I am not sure if they were just overwhelmed that day, however this hasn't discouraged me from going back in the future.

Milkwood is a really cosy restuarant overlooking Onrus beach and the lagoon. The food is really decent (try the Mince Waffle for breakfast!). There are two levels which you can be seated on, and it is a great place to just enjoy a peaceful meal and a drink.

Great food with a great view. Right next to the lagoon. If you’re a parent it’s a great spot to keep an eye over your kids in the lagoon. Cocktails lacks a bit in presentation, but still manages to do the trick. Nice and comfy indoor next to the fireplace when it’s cold or during winter months. The staff are in general quite friendly and the food of constant quality. Their deep-fried seafood platter is not too bad...

I always wanted to try this hidden restaurant in Onrus. The welcome was very friendly and the staff went out of their way to make it comfortable and hospitable. The menu has something for everyone and I choose the Soup of the Day. It was hearty and homemade. The flavours blended well. The freshly baked bread was a pleasant surprise in quality, taste and presentation. The butter served with a butter paper cover was 5 star. My main meal was Battered Hake with chops and salad. The presentation was once again excellent. The salad had a very tasty creamy sauce which worked well with the fresh greens. The chips was well cooked as well as the fish. I noticed that most people enjoyed their dishes as they were telling their partners quite loudly so. The wine list is well balanced with some of the best local wines and beer featuring. The dessert menu was extremely tempting offering a wide selection of freshly baked cakes, slices, and desserts. The Red Cappuccino was excellent at the end of the meal. Art lovers can buy some art work on display all in the range of R1000+. They also serve the best local beer - a lager The Old Harbour Beer.

Excellent service, our waitress Tasha was so friendly and helpful. Food was also excellent and we didn't wait long for it.They also have many vegan and vegetarian options on their menu which is great.

Extremely disappointed in the service and quality of food. We popped out for a quick lunch that turned in to a very frustrating 2 hours. We waited 20 minutes for 2 cappuccinos when there were only three tables seated. We waited 50 minutes for our food to arrive and upon its arrival it was substandard. The kiddies’ pizzas were thick and topped with the cheapest cheese on the market. They were so inedible; the kids didn’t even finish them. The burgers were awful, cheap bread, meat and cheese. Pretty much school canteen quality. The waiter was unapologetic to the complaints, I’m pretty sure he did not pass the message on to the managers. All in all, the food is overpriced, inedible and the service is incredibly slow. Unsatisfied and would not recommend this establishment which is very sad as the location is absolutely gorgeous. Perfect location on the lagoon. My 85 year old father sat on the deck enjoying a drink & watching his grandchildren play and build sandcastles. We all had drinks and eats as well. Service was excellent & friendly..

We had dinner at the restaurant this Wednesday. The food was great. That is where the good stuff ended. Table sides were peeling off, coffee arrived in a glass covered in dust and dead insects of sorts (yes really) and the rest rooms were filthy. Just not good enough for a restaurant of this previous standard. Friendly service.

We had a fabulous lunch at Milkwood! The food was outstanding, very tasty and well presented! Our waiter (Ruan) was very friendly, accommodating and he is really an asset to this restaurant!
