Actually googled the hemel en aarde wine valley before my weekend in Hermanus and read up on the estates. The one that caught my eye was La Vierge and their Pinot Noirs, as i really enjoy a Pinotage, Pinot Noir was definitely going to be an experience and a half. So we were assisted by an elderly gentleman i assume was the manager, he was on the ball from the minute we got there. He explained the whole La Vierge concept, touched on the owner as well, and no he's not French 😅. I usually have Savignon Blanc but once i saw their Chardonnay called the Jezabell, i just had to go there and choose it. Then we went to the Pinot Noirs, from the lightest to the darkest. We closed it off with the Bordeaux, and the information dispensed to us by the wine tasting guide was epic. One question: who comes up with the names of the wines? 🤣😂 After a few glasses i was already wondering how i can crack a few jokes around the wine names to the wife (glad i didn't, don't think it would have ended well). We had so much fun wine tasting, just as we were ready to get lunch, the kitchen was closed. The aromas coming out of the kitchen were mouth-watering, definitely coming back to have that lunch. The place is beautiful in a tranquil setting overlooking the valley, the mascot (dog) was a nice touch. The views from the balcony are also breathtaking.

We spent a lovely afternoon at this little spot on the hill. You walk through parts of the operations into the tasting area and restaurant. Views are spectacular and you can see the ocean from some of the tables. Great views even from the bathrooms. Reasonably priced wine tastings. Good coffee. Friendly staff. Options for meals or food platters. We were even blessed with a rainbow across the valley.

La Vierge is our favourite restaurant on the Hemel en Aarde wine route. The food and wine is superb! The views are the best, the quirky decor is delightful and service is excellent. Go and enjoy!

Negatives: I've been here several times and really enjoyed it. Back then there was no baby in our family. Our visit today indicated that there is no baby changing station. Toilets are not baby friendly and we were forced to change the baby on the couch in the foyer. In addition, fly control is an issue. We understand that this may be due to several reasons, but it was at an unacceptable level. Positives: Good service overall. Friendly waiters, beautiful scenery, good food and wine.

Sadly, I can't agree with all the "rave" reviews of this restaurant. Everything about it felt a little bit dirty& uncared for and the service was honestly dreadful - I don't think our server had benefited from any training at all. The staff started breaking the restaurant down, moving tables and cleaning around us while we were still eating desert! The food (other than the bobotie with the stale, dry, clumpy rice) was apparently good & tasty & the views are wonderful but there are many other places I'd have been far happier to spend time (and money) at ... definitely shan't be going back.

Love the entire wine tasting experience! Thoughtful and fun names for the wines just add a little zest to the mix. Postcard-worthy views of the Hemel en Aarde valley.

We had the rib eye steak and I had the famous onion. The steak rates as one of the best I have ever eaten. Tender, perfectly grilled and full of flavour. That with the stunning view made the visit memorable. The wimes are pretty spectacular too.

What an amazing place. We had a delicious fillet steak and an awesome bottle of red wine. There is a beautiful outside deck with great views. I would highly recommended and I would love to go soon again.

Barry truly went above and beyond during our visit! We made the trip to Hemel en Aarde Valley for our first wedding anniversary and La Vierge was without a doubt the highlight. Barry shared his extensive knowledge of wine and the history behind the brand - we had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed our tasting.

Wines have improved year after year at La Vierge. The food is also a big plus. I had a 900g steak that was bigger than my head. Perfectly cooked! Lovely views in a relaxed environment. Friendly and considerate staff. Trouble closing the large sliding windows on a cool day was the only bummer.

What an amazing wine tasting with an interesting background story of the vineyards and designs. A beautiful and artistic venue with a breathtaking view of the wine valley. Friendly staff, good service and the best platters we ever had!

We decided to drive up the valley road and go in at the first attractive spot we see and the sign from the road and the bright pink squares definitely sparked our interest We had a wine tasting which was very chilled and the host was very knowledgeable. The wines did not disappoint either; very easy drinking and unique The Flagship Pinot Noir and Riesling were definite favorites The view over the valley is a plus!

Scandalously named wines but that's how they like it. Sure to be a good venue, and the staff are quite welcoming.

Terrible service too many unruly children at a adult venue. No management delegation so many paying customers leaving because of children and bad service

Secluded vineyard. Far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Ask for their wine tasting package. They have a good collection of wines. And later you can enjoy their delicious meal over Italian cuisine. Not to forget the thin crust pizza and the creamy Alfredo pasta. And as they claim, a party without dessert is just a meeting, so not to forget to relish upon their creme brulee! If you have got a sweet tooth, you cannot stop having just one.

Experience is very important, especially when it is the first visit. We were a group of ladies about 14, which were there to do wine tasting and dine. Some of us has visited plenty of the wine farms through out the western cape. I have never tasted 4 different wines using the same glass, Not even rinsing it after each taste.... We were served on the same glass throughout the so called experience. 2ndly it's the cutlery....... It definitely needs a lot of love, needs to be changed, it's old and chipped. Mr Bruce is doing a fantastic job in the kitchen, his stake is out of this world..... The food in general was amazing. The fine details are very important, it can help the restaurant to either have lots promoters or lots of detractors Kind Refards Asive Castle

Awesome view while doing fine dining. Their wine is quite good (depending on selection). The food is delicious, meat, salad and side alike. Their onion as a starter is something different but pleasant on your taste buds. B’s simply knows how to char / grill or pan fry your meat - just be warned, when you ask for something “well done” you literally receive pieces of charcoal.

Excellent wine tasting, ask for Barry, he's very knowledgeable and entertaining. Cheese board is great value and other food looks excellent. Spectacular views.

What a lovely venue. The tasting is affordable and the food is tasty too. Pet friendly, however their is an inhouse doggo that runs the place😅 service was really great and a stunning view. Will definitely come back here

👍👍 Probably the best waiter we have ever had the honor of serving us. Local English chap that knows his food and area very well.
