The whale watching season was exceptional. It was very crowded. However, the whales delivered. They came out in their numbers and put on a great display. If, you ever near Hermanus during whale watching season. Pop in, it is worth the time to watch these beautiful creatures in their natural environment. Just remember to get a good parking and find yourself a good place by the sea. There is also various activities for kids. And various food stalls.

We went on a tour in the afternoon and were lucky. We saw a group whales mating and the boat was able to get pretty close. I did get sick at the end but I think it was because I was looking through my camera the whole time. Crew were very friendly and caring. Would definitely recommend!

There are many whale watchers you can go to, but these are pretty good actually. A decent ship (catamaran) with a good crew. From our ship we have seen other boats where people were packed. Not here. And worth mentioning... the crew were very respectful for the whales we saw and kept their distance. Do not forget to walk to the edge of the harbour and see the seal colony.

I had this wonderful experience to watch whales so closely with their Tour. They are so good in spotting the place to get proper whale watching and was really awesome experience. They also take care of time so we’ll to start the tour on time and bring back within time limit with good experience of what’s watching without any as such rush to complete the tour. I will recommend to try them for a good experience.

Just got back from a short trip to Hermanus to see the whales. I could not have asked for a better experience! The guides cannot guarantee the same experience, since that is up the whales however, the guides, spotters and captain of the boat were incredibly friendly, funny and willing to share as much knowledge as they could. I recommend!!

Absolutely fantastic! From start to finish the team was amazing. We had our first trip cancelled due to very windy weather but we were notified on WhatsApp and rescheduled. When we arrived we had a very friendly welcome with nice coffee and a informative briefing. On the boat the driver and guides were so knowledgeable. The boat was very clean and comfortable. We saw Southern Right whales, a Bryde's whale, seals and a huge pod of dolphins. We were not rushed at all and everyone got to see plenty of action. It was really a major highlight of our trip and I can 100% recommend Hermanus Whale Watchers.

My friend and I had an amazing, unforgettable trip with Hermanus Whale Watchers. We saw quite a few seals and were so lucky to also spot whales. We had the privelege to observe a mom and her calf from close nearby for a long time before heading back to land. The views were breathtaking and the guides were informative, kind and helpful. We did unfortunately start feeling seasick towards the end of the boat trip. Would definitely recommend taking anti-nausea medication in advance! It could really ruin a lot of the enjoyment if you can't lift your head or open your eyes when you are right next to a magnificent whale!

Amazing and very informative trip. Very well organized. The kids loved it! Mostly appreciated the fact that there are very few boats and the whales are not surrounded by people. We saw many whales.

Wonderful experience with an amazing atmosphere. The whales put on a spectacular show if you’re lucky. The drive from Cape Town is scenic and well worth two hour drive.

We did a whale watching tour with them and we really enjoyed our time! We saw some dolphins as well as 2 big mother whales with one kid each (the males left already at the end of October). We felt very safe and comfortable on the boat and would do a tour with them again!

Great crew & boat. There were about 30 on the boat, that is small and personable compared to some of the other companies. We had a driver from Cape Town take us there and back. Terrific day!

We saw a few wails far away from them to not bother them and make them scare. So don’t think you can photos of them. The ship was great and looks new. The guides were nice and gave us a lot of information.

Sadly we didn’t see the whales doing too much in the way of activity but the tour guide was really knowledgeable and nice, some amusing facts and the scenery was breathtaking enough.

Great experience. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. We’ll have to go back soon to see a whale breaching the water surface! ;) Easy to book via their WhatsApp number.

Good guides and explanation. Received a soda and some crisps. Unfortunately my expectations were a bit too high. The season is coming to an end. We saw a mama and baby, but only their tops. In returning we saw a few dolphins and seals

We had an amazing time watching southern right whales. Some very close to the boat. We took our 4month old and we were very well looked after by the helpful and friendly crew.

Hermanus Whale Watchers is located at the The New Harbour. It is easy to find in the small town of Hermanus. There is ample parking available. Make sure you book your trip by the respective charter in advance before showing up. We did the early morning cruise, and got to see 1000s of dolphins, a few Southern Rock Whales (and their calves), 1000s of Seagulls and Seals. They organize a very informative class before the cruise, which makes the cruise a very very interesting treasure hunt. The team at Hermanus Whale Watchers was extremely particular about safety!

Whale endangerment at it's finest! Hermanus Whale Watchers do not adhere to the conditions of their permits and don’t take the well-being of the whales into account. These boats approach too close to the whales, including whales with very young babies despite the condition of their permit that this is forbidden, and they approach with speed which often distresses the mothers. They make rapid changes in speed and direction which also visibly disturbs the whales. Tourists to the area are distressed to see the whales being ‘chased’ by boats. The Cape Whale coast owes its global tourism reputation to the Southern Right Whale, with Hermanus as the proclaimed Whale Capital of the world. Tourism is the largest contributor to the local economy. The behaviour of this three boat operator is bound to degrade the habitat of the Southern Whales in Walker Bay – and as a result the future of the area as a famous international tourism area. It is also important to note that whale boats may approach to within 50m of the whales and should not move off for fear of injury if the whales (naturally curious mammals) approach the boat. They may not come between a mother and calf and if the whales move off they may not follow them. They may not come closer than 1 nautical mile (1,8km) to the coastline. Why allowing the Hermanus Whale Watchers doing this to these mammals?

Really nice charter if you want to see whales. We also saw dolphins and seals.

Saw a lot of whales! The operator is really knowledgeable and friendly. Told a lot of stories about his adventures and about whales. It felt like a family outing rather than a random tour. Will recommend it even though the fees are on the higher side.

Amazing experience with these knowledgeable people. The boat was perfect for the watching, and they don't allow too many people on, in order for the guests to be able to move freely around. The crew is amazing: the spotters know how and where to find the whales, and the crew can tell so many facts about literally everything regarding whales. They are kind and easy to talk to. Overall we were lucky to see so many whales and seals, and thank these people for that.
