Best beach I've been to in a long time. Beautiful at sunrise and sunset. Clean and pet friendly. Lovely for a morning run or long walk with hubby.

In principle, it has everything a perfect beach should have: 1. A beach itself, with nice soft sand, beautiful sea and waves. 2. A place to redress and to take a shower after swimming. 3. A close place to park your car. 4. A cafe to have a snack. A very nice beach!

Definitely a blue flag beach. Ample parking, large beach area, 2 restaurants and snack venues, public toilets and a braai / picnic area. Not to mention caves and a trail you can walk. There is plenty of parking, but it can be difficult during summer and holidays.

What an amazing beach that is safe and well managed by the lifeguards. There was also continued presence of law enforcement officials in the parking area to ensure traffic rules obided by all. Sun umbrellas and beach chairs to rent on the beach

A Lovely long flat stretch of beach. The sunsets are beautiful there. There are ablutions, a coffee van, ice cream and kiosks. Small play area for the kids. Life guards are on duty in season. There is plenty of parking BUT during the summer holidays it can be difficult to find parking and you might have to walk a long distance to where the swimming beach area is.

Excellent beach!! Sufficient parking, clean beach and crystal clear water (cold though). Safe, secure, and helpful staff. They kindly informed me of a beach chair/buggy for partially abled people. It's able to take them into the water so everyone can enjoy the beach.

Beautiful and Peaceful Beach. We had so much fun at the beach and took some photos with my best cousins. I will always love this beach a lot because it will be my favorites.

A nice and clean beach 🏖️ 🌊 🐳🏊‍♂️ to enjoy the sun and the waves. But it´s also a good place to spot the Southern Right whales in winter time. In October 2020 I´ve luckily got this opportunity. Sunbathing, a short break and looking up for a moment, are there jumping whales?, jip, I can´t believe , close to the beach some Southern Rights are jumping and enjoyiong themselves. About 5 minutes I could watch them and taking some video clips. Later I extracted a few pics. Sjoe... In addition a short video clip of the whale sightings and small maps to orientate. Again in October 2021 together with my son.

Great for a romantic getaway. Clean beach, great for walks or hikes. Law enforcement was present. Ablution facilities were well serviced.

Fantastic! Kilometers long, great views, loungers and parasols available to rent. Nice wind in the summer, the water was warm in February. Perfect!

What an amazing beach, one of the best around. Added to this one of the best restaurants in the area and the blue flag beaches. Lots of lifeguards on duty and looking very professional

Long time favourite beach. Clean beach and well serviced with mobile coffee and ice cream (just holidays I suppose). Plenty of life guards always alert. Lots of space so though it may be quite busy, it does not have to feel crowded.

Beautiful beach! With clean environment (toilet and shower etc) . Having good time with my family and we are looking forward to visit grotto beach again

My most favourite beach in the world- long stretches of unspoilt natural beauty- great to such in the sea air and feel the sand in your toes on any early morning.

Very nice beach. However, Google Maps uses old images. The “Small River” now (Feb 2024) forms a deep creek, even at low tide, which divides the “very long beach” and would have to be waded/swimmed through. This leaves about 20 minutes of beach walking in one direction. Still beautiful and mostly empty during the week outside of high season. Parasols and/or deck chairs can be rented on a daily basis at the northern end at fair prices.

Pristine beach. Amazing fun for families. Beach access is free. You can rent umbrella and chairs, or bring your own. I recommend taking along your own if possible, as the guys co-ordinating this seem to be running some sort of racket- different rates for different guests, no receipts etc. One was quite rude to us, bordering on harassment, which almost spoilt our visit. Aside from this, a lovely beach worth visiting.

Absolutely lovely location right next to Grotto Beach ... plus great local beers and a deliciously varied menu! A must when visiting Hermanus.

Fantastic Beach . Clean , well guarded, separate section for dogs , and inclusive for people with disabilities. We were extremely impressed with the beach wheelchair which we could use to push our elderly mom into the ocean !!

Such a incredible beach with great views and surroundings. So clean and well maintained. Definitely a worthy location there is ample parking, a restaurant close by and a braai area either down on the beach. Just a great spot to enjoy the beach, the sun and surrounded by nature's beauty!

Stunning long beach with shower facilities and a restaurant (Dutchies) on site. Well worth visiting if you are in the area and is relatively easy to access.

Wonderful stretch of beach and not so busy. Dog’s welcome and Dutchies restaurant right there for a cuppa after and your dog gets a biscuit there too! 😄

Stunning and sun-bleached beach. You can walk for kilometers. Many walkers and runners, families .....and dogs enjoying the white sand and the waves gently drenching the sand.

What an unbelievably beautiful beach! Excellent change rooms with showers, spotlessly clean on a Monday morning. Soft white sand, big waves, water is quite cold, prepare for aching ankels. You can swim but the current and waves can be very strong, so swim with care. Probably one of the best beach in the whole country!!

Pleasant experience visiting Grotto Beach...I haven't been to a beach in a very long while because of safety issues but I was made to feel at ease and enjoy myself at this beach....am will be coming back

Grotto beach is a great place to relax and soak up the sun. During the peak season in summer it can get quite busy, but there is more than enough space so it doesn't get overly crowded. I am not sure if there is always a Life Guard on duty, but when we visited there was. There were also other activities for the kids such as a rock climbing wall, and with a couple of restaurants close by you can easily spend the entire day there. Although we only went for a walk along the beach, I have previously swum there and the water was cool but bearable. Grotto Beach is recognized as a Blue Flag beach.

Beautiful Blue Flag beach, about 4km away from the Hermanus town centre. Ample parking, umbrella/lounger rental available, at least 2 buildings with shower/toilet facilities, life guards on duty. Very popular because of the long stretch of white sand (the coastline closer to Hermanus central is very rocky)

Nothing much to see but still nice soft sand and nice space to walk the dog. Leashed beach. And can get very busy

Lovely beach however there were blue bottles all over shore line. Numerous boards saying no dogs allowed and life guard around. But no notice of blue bottles

Very clean, lifeguards are visible. Very open so no protection from the wind. Excellent for kite surfing

FOOD 5 STAR. EXCELLENT. I WILL DRIVE ANY TIME FROM CAPE TOWN JUST FOR THE GREAT SERVICE AND FOOD.

Beach was immaculate. Kudos to the municipality for keeping the facilities spotless in spite of lockdown.
