This is the hub of Hermanus and the most famous and easily accessible viewpoint for whale watching. There is parking, though limited, and it is close to several eating establishments. We started the Cliff Path from here and loved it!

This is a spectacular place at the beachfront where sculptures and artistic ornaments are displayed for public enjoyment. There is ample parking space and lots to see. the see splashes up against the coastline showering the spectators with a faint misty seawater spray. There are klipdassies and seagulls vieing for crumbs and left overs abandoned by beach-goers .Al of this happens on the plaza. I highly recommend Hermanus and Gearing's Point to tourists.

Whale watching can only be done in certain months, we asked a local who mentioned between Jul-Nov is the best time to see whales. You may not find anything the other months of the year

Gearing's Point is at the old Harbour in the center of town, dotted with some sculptures and a beautiful walking path. Several restaurants and coffee shops conveniently situated for whale watching

It's a bit exposed, but on warm days, this is a wonderful place to relax or check out the ocean for the surprises in the water. Whales and seals can be observed from this point and there are lots of sea birds which make the adjacent islands their home. Some people will paddle in ocea kayaks to take in the scenery. There are plenty on art installations for the enjoyment of the public and even a solar clock exhibit. The parking is free and safe.

Best start to my day with an early morning walk on Hermanus beach front around Gearings Point enjoying sunrise over the beautiful ocean. Along the way, interesting and thought provoking sculptures can be seen, each telling a story. For this time of the year, dress warmly and be prepared for some wind. If you lucky, you might also the whales during this time of the year 😊 Dassies are all over the crags too.

Hermanus is.beautiful and this season(October) we were treated to multiple whales breaching multiple times. Very cool. Top ... Do walk along the cliff top walk and also tempt yourself to go on the rocks to take some mediocre photos of the whales and then for a change of pace, sit in an ocean view bar, drink beer and wine and take mediocre photos of the whales from there!!!

One of the top spots to watch for whales, especially August-October. Lovely views, sculptures and artwork along the coastal path make for interesting diversions if the whales are not showing themselves. Nearby restaurants and markets are great for hungry shopper types. Lovely vibe. Lots of parking but it does get busy.

Absolutely gorgeous place to just sit and be. Not yet whale season but we did see evidence that a couple of whales have already moved in for the season.

In spring the wales are less than 40 meters from the shore. The market has lots of interesting things to buy. Fabulous restaurants in the area as well as quaint shops all around.

Beautiful and clean spot for appreciating nature and arts at its finest. Sometimes the wind can make the beautiful view a little chilly and restless but still a must stop. Even if you just stop for a waffle or an ice cream on the bay.

An Icon place to go visit with artists sculptures around the coastal path, and a beautiful view of the whole Walkerbay from Gansbaai to the new Harbour.

Beautiful viewpoint of the ocean. If you're lucky you might spot some whale from here in winter time! The views are amazing and there's a parking spot nearby. It's close to the centre of Hermanus and to the biodiversity walk (definitely do this!). However long you like to watch, you stay here. There's plenty of benches to sit on and you can bring your own food if you'd like to
