4 stars for the good upkeep of the reserve. Very helpful staff at the gate. With the recent rain we had, stunning views and awesome river flow. As for the day trail, 3 stars. A jeep track with no points of interest. Still enjoyed the morning. Thank you HHN Reserve.

We went for a 4x4 trip and wow what an awesome place ! There was a rave ongoing and looked very chilled and super clean. We used the toilets and was pleasantly surprised! The 4x4 route and the area is breathtaking! I'm going back very soon! The two waterfalls is a must!

Beautiful Reserve, great hikes (not for the feint hearted), amazing views, stunning fynbos, proteas and other flora. Can do a canopy tour. Overnight accommodation is clean and well maintained.

Calming environment, the staff is very friendly at the reserve, relaxing place. It's definitely one for adventure and strength. Beautiful views, calming sound of nature. Overnight cottages also available. Great place to bring family or a group of friends on a weekend trip. Various animals at the reserve and it's breathtaking sunrise is something not to miss out on.

Nothing soothes the soul like a brisk walk in Mother Nature... Love that we can take the dogs and let them run free and explore all the trails. It's not too overrun by people, which makes it authentic. Beautiful proteas in bloom.

Coming from the hills, there are great views from the road of the valley below and the dam not too far in the distance.

Beautiful part of the country with incredible views. Did the zip lining and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were professional but still a lot of fun. Can't fault them on anything!

Our 2nd time to Suicide Gorge, Hottentots Holland (first time was last year)... and going to be an annual event for us. This year however, we did the gorge jumps in wetsuits - our best decision EVER! Yes, it's a little more to carry on the hike, but you feel warm in the water, you don't feel cold getting out all the time (wind chill factor), which means that you eat less, as you're not shivering uncontrollably. Make sure you have an experienced guide with you... even when you know where you're going, it's at least a 7.5 hour outing. Whilst the gorge will leave you breathless and amazed, with bum slides and jumps ranging from around 5 meters up to about 12 or 13 meters, don't discount the hike into and out of the gorge. It is rather long and can feel treacherous on the way back. The gorge itself is only about 1.5km long... but takes up a lot of time. But, God willing, we'll be back next year, even more prepared and excited :)

Elgin train trip was fantastic...a must for all tourists! Experience a 3 hour steam train journey from the waterfront in Cape town across the Cape and up sir Lowry's pass and down into the Elgin valley. Stop at the Elgin train market for 2 hours and enjoy the wide range of lunch options with shopping and entertainment. Travel back to the waterfront and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Brilliant train service!

Beautiful scenery 🌼. Nice peaks and wonderful streams at your feet. Had much trouble navigating through the hike route due to lack of indicating signs.

Went there to zipline with Cape canopy tours. Mountains are majestic, truly amazing. Book a trail and an overnight hut...won't be disappointed. Rugged though, be prepared.

Did the orchard overnight hiking trails. Good accommodation with well marked trails

  • 1/5 Noel B. 1 year ago on Google
Very disappointed. The boesmanskloof route via Pofadder Nek is closed now for many years. I thought by now it would have been opened for hiking. The Cape Nature website indicates that the route is temporarily closed. Why is this? I have noticed that the Orchard trail shows signs of erosion due to the amount of hikers walking on this route. Will this trail also be closed in the near future?

Drove all the way here for a day of mountain biking (from Fish Hoek) to be told at the gate that the trails have been closed for nearly 3 years 😡😡😡😡 How about you put this on your website and update it!!!!

We stopped for a bit at the highest point on the road. Not much to see as it's dry season but we spent some time at the dam. No picnic facilities and I think we were not supposed to stop there, but no one came to chase us away.

👍👍 Ataraxia has wonderful wines, I couldn't pick just one I loved. The tasting room is beautiful, situated in an old-style chapel. The views of the vineyards is amazing. There's a bit of a wait if you have not booked and it's busy - but enough time to wander around outside and take photos.
