This walk is glorious. One has to be quite fit as there is a lot of climb but the pace is tempered by the speed you are capable of. Our guides Jeffery and Patrick were great. Jeffery is passionate in passing on his knowledge of the area, knowing every plant name in almost any language including all the scientific ones! We saw various game, klipspringer, duiker, a mountain adder which was very exciting, and amazing birds. A real bonus is the wine tastings and visits to wine farms which is part of this trip.

Absolutely stunning locations, varied level of walks from easy to moderate. Exceptional guides, extremely knowledgeable about Flora and fauna. As well as the guides knowing when to stop for scenic shots and small rests for those who need it. The guides also carried breakfast, and small stop snacks and coffee/tea/hot chocolate - simply wonderful experience shared with family.

We have spent the past four days hiking Green Mountain Trail with Andreas and Patrick. Their knowledge of the flora and fauna allowed us to truly develop an understanding for the glorious nature that is on our doorstep. Andreas particularly has a passion for geology and this gave an added dimension to our trail. Coffee has never tasted better and wholesome sandwiches and endless snacks freshly packed for our daily excursions filled our hungry tummies. Rosie and Annie deserve their five stars for providing a cuisine out of this world. Deliciously served in the barn with local wines to match. Thank you Alison and your staff for the most wonderful experience. Our group of five couples were able to have the most stunning time…enjoying each other’s company and learning at the same time.

A beautiful and well planned trail. Our two guides were exceptional. So interesting and knowledgeable about all the flora and fauna along the trail. Also so helpful to any older slower walkers - like me - in the group. The catering was superb and delicious all the way, with a lovely mix of creative 5star picnics and excellent wine farm meals. The format was exceptionally well thought out and outstandingly executed. Alison and Andre's are to be congratulated for their pioneering work bringing this gem to our doorstep. Thanks to all involved.

We had a magical week away in the Elgin / Bot Rivier region. We hiked 57 kms over 4 days, slept in a wonderfully comfortable bed and ate delicious 3-course meals, and drank marvelous wine. Our guides had an encyclopedic knowledge of fynbos, the animals and geology of the area, as well as the history.

This was a highlight of my trip to the Cape. The walk was challenging and exhilarating, yet also relaxed. Our breakfasts, munched on the mountain after an uphill walk, were always welcome, and lunch was well deserved. Wildekrantz House is charming and dinners were outstanding. Fellow walkers became friends as we shared our experiences around the table, and our host, Alison, went out of her way to make us comfortable.

A wonderful 4 days on a beautiful mountain range led by two excellent guides who not only exposed us to the fauna and flora on the range but also provided a detailed history of the geology of the region

A fabulous opportunity to see the fynbos in its most pristine state. Tough to walk if it is hot, but beautiful if it is cool. Excellent guides, delicious and plentiful food, and outstanding care when one is tired.

What a wonderful time we had! Having done the Blue mountain trail, I was very happy that Andy joined me to do the 4 day Green mountain trail, leaving and returning each day to the comfort of Wildekrans Country House, where the superb and friendly team see to your every need, and serve up fantastic meals at every sitting. We had a small group of 5 hikers, lead by Andreas and pushed from behind by Patrick, two highly knowledgeable, experienced and such fun guides, they made the trip… sharing their passion for this mountain, it’s geology, it’s wildlife and it’s trees… as well as carrying most of our daily food rations. Having Alison coordinating each day’s walk from Wildekrans allowed us to navigate a week of rain and storms, seldom seen in the Cape at this time of the year! This focus and flexibility meant we had a magical and fair weather walk each day, with the cloud and inclement weather affecting neither the views nor our enjoyment. We will certainly be back, to visit the House, the team, as well as the majestic mountains.

we completed the trail early in December. The walking was relatively easy most days and guide Andreas always adjusted the pace to suit the group. We thoroughly enjoyed everything about this trail from the historic guest house where we were treated to comfortable rooms and Annies wonderful food to the beautiful mountain paths. Andreas and Patrick made the mountains come alive with their knowledge of local history, geology, fauna and flora. Delicious lunches and wine in local vineyards made for a memorable trail. Thanks to Alison, the staff, the guides and our fellow guests for an experience we will always remember in this wonderful amazing country

A wonderful trail with expert guides in attendance. Experience abundant fynbos and flora as you hike over 3 or 4 days through the winelands and mountains. Five star accomodation and delicious meals @ Wildekrans Guest House every evening with Alison and crew in attendance. The views are spectacular ... the hiking moderate, and you will leave relaxed and enlightened by the guides extensive knowledge

What a magnificent 4 days hiking the Groenlandberg and surrounds. The exquisite environment of the Kogelberg Biosphere entirely enhanced by the generosity, passion and expertise of our Guides, Andreas and Patrick ( and his perfectly personalised alien hiking sticks). Arranged and supported by Alison and her Team from our Wildekrans Country House base, no detail was overlooked... from beautifully carefully packed delicious Mountaintop meals to piping hot coffee and soup at our stops to the smooth organisation of collections and welcomes as we finished our day walking down into yet another top local Estate for a meal and a tasting. The combination of a good day's walk followed by and accompanied by treats at every turn has to be experienced to be appreciated. I cannot recommend this trail highly enough. Wish I was still there! Thank you Green Mountain Trail.

👍👍 We had an amazing time at Avani. The wood-fired hot tub was steaming and ready for us when we arrived. We were welcomed by an amazing tub of home made olives and some freshly ground coffee for the next morning. We even got to meet the farm kitty as he went about his rounds.
