We didn't expect such a beautiful farm with many animals. The alpacas can be fed with special food that is sold in bags. We booked the stable tour. A guide first gave us information about the farm, the animals and the weaving factory and together we visited the alpacas in the stables! That was a very nice experience. Afterwards we had a drink on the shady terrace of the café with a view of the pet zoo and the pastures. A very calming pleasant place. In addition to the alpacas, there are 2 llamas, dromedaries, goats, sheep, donkeys and horses. Everything was laid out very nicely. Simple but great and not expensive at all. The homemade things made from wool are also excellent and inexpensive! A very nice experience for us!

Absolutely incredible. Loved interacting and feeding the animals. They were all so cute. The walk is a bit expensive so we gave it a skip, but seems like you can only see the baby alpacas up close with the walk so that’s a bit of a bummer. The gifts in the shop are also incredibly expensive. That’s the only reason I am giving it 4 stars. It’s really an awesome outing for all ages and something different. Also recommend going early because it gets super busy.

Beautiful alpaca farm with cozy coffee. You can buy high-quality locally made textiles and many other beautiful things related to Alpaca here. For a small fee you can feed and pet the alpacas yourself.

Great fun for the kids. Limits shade spaces so pick your visit correctly cause it can get hot. That said everyone enjoyed it and we will go back.

I never have any negative feedback when visiting any spot with animals so may be a bit biased in this regard. The R100 tour was a short one but very informative & got to learn quite a bit from our guide Ruan. It was critter season so got to meet lots of new little baby alpacas. I had no idea that if you had big enough grounds you could actually have them as pets! On sight are 3 weaving machines we got to see at work & a coffee shop for a quick cafe styled bite or some cake. Petting & seated outdoor area with a few free roaming alpacas & a play park for kids. The road leading to the venue however is gravel & not easy on low vehicles, wear comfy shoes & bring your sun hat.

Wow! My partner and I spent about 4 hours at this farm because it was just so tranquil and fun. Upon arrival the lady asked if it was our first time and then she explained everything, and she was super patient and willing to help. We decided to do the tour which ended up being such an experience. The guide was so knowledgeable and ready for any and all questions, he even threw in a few jokes that had everyone laughing. We had lunch, and the peaceful environment made it so relaxing! I'll say that I won't go there solely for the food but it did the trick. The cake on the other hand is fantastic. I had a carrot cake, which I was hesitant to order as it's usually dry but wow! I'll admit, that is the best carrot cake I've had to date. My partner had the bar one cake and it was quite rich and not super sweet. Both cakes were also nice and moist. The petting was so fun, especially for pictures. We did not feed the animals but they were still quite calm and let us pet them. I'm from Pretoria but if I ever find myself here again, it will definitely be on my To-Do List.

Amazing to pet and feed some Alpacas. Their food is also very tasty, if you have a big appetite order two for their portions are very small. They have some alpaca products but are quite expensive.

If your kids love interacting with animals, then this is a great little spot to visit! Besides the adorable Llamas, there are many other goats and sheep to feed and engage with. The cutest Pony and larger than life Camels in addition to all the Geese and other farm animals, also got the toddler really excited! We ended the visit with some time in the play area, whilst Dad enjoyed some delicious coffee and cookies. Will visit again.👍

This place is a great place for kids as an outing.. You can buy food for the animals that you can feed.. You may not feed all the animals but those that you are allowed to feed is fun to feed and the packet of food you buy is enough to give most of the animals that can be fed.. Lots of different animals.. There is also a coffee shop and nice souvenirs to buy.. Was worth exploring and very inexpensive for both options.. Go and enjoy the beauty..

Was a very nice experience. R20 per person to feed the animals and R20 for a bag of food. The petting zoo was nice as they had alpacas, llamas, geese, goats and sheep. There were also camels, donkeys and horses. They also had a coffee shop and a variety of sweets, cakes and treats. We did not have anything to eat or drink, as were just came from Spice Route, but enjoyed our visit to the petting zoo.

A great place if you love spending time in nature. Nice place for kids to play and grown ups to enjoy a cup of coffee. Kids can feed the Alpacas and play on the jungle gym. Stunning views from the restaurants deck.

Cutest stop you will ever make if you on the Paarl wine route. R20 entry fee to touch the alpaca and to take photos. You also can buy food at an extra R20 to feed them. Extremely cheap and so worth it. I Beware if you over do the touching or try to hug there is a risk of biting or kicking. Just know your boundaries. The place has a cute cafe and lovely look out points. At the Alpaca Loom Cafe there is also so lies and camels. You make also buy alpaca products. The scarfed and ponchos made from alpaca are of great quality and keep you very warm but is at a great price. Value for money. I would highly recommend coming here

A great place for the whole family to visit. The food at the restaurant was good, and the service was decent. The road to get there is not the best and the parking is on a very even terrain, but nothing a normal car cannot handle. The animals are very well taken care of. They have a wide variety of animals that one can feed which contributes to the fun experience. Definitely worth a visit!

This place has beautiful views. Definitely recommend this place, even for a quick activity with the kids. There is a 550m gravel road to get to the farm. Kiddies enjoy the animal encounters so much. They have alpaca's and farm animals. Here is a small play area for kids and coffee shop. Farm entry only R20 and animal food also R20. A tour is available at R100 pp. Free for kids under 3. The alpaca's are beautiful.

Very nice place with a little enjoyable café and very helpful and friendly staff. Everything is wheelchair accessible. The sandy and a little bumpy roads makes it somehow sporty for a wheelchair driver but it’s fun to do and see the cute animals. Great for families with little kids. It’s got an area where you can walk through different kind of animals besides the alpacas.

Alpaca Farm, established in South Africa's wonderful nature, is a place where you will have a great time if you love animals and want to feed them with your hands. Also, the textile products made from Alpaca wool are worth seeing.

First time seeing Alpacas visiting with a group of seniors, what an experience. Also nice to see Camels and other animals. Spectacular views from the farm. Absolute must see. Very interesting weaving process with the Alpaca wool. A definite possibility of revisiting sometime.

Everyone should visit The Alpaca Loom petting zoo at least once 🖤 an absolute delight for both adults and kids! You have the option of taking a guided tour or visit the petting zoo which is a really fun experience. Grab a bag of petfood at the coffee shop and suddenly these weird but wonderful creatures become your shadow until the bag is empty. The zoo is home to alpacas, llamas, camels, donkeys, horses, ducks and other friendly farm animals. There is a coffee shop where you can also buy gift items and clothing made from alpaca wool. The views are stunning!

I had an amazing experience! The alpacas and llamas were so friendly and so cute. The staff working there were super helpful and friendly. Even though the cafe there doesn’t have large variety, the food they serve was good and the service was great. The place itself is stunning. There are horses and donkeys too!

We had a great morning meeting the alpacas and llamas here. Good coffee and light meals on offer, small shop with woven and knitted goods, in undyed alpaca wool, heavenly soft. We did a barn tour which was very informative, and nice to see the baby alpacas up close.

Great place for a quick coffee and cake stop and for the kids to enjoy interacting with the animals. Stunning views and some cool animals for the kids to see. Had Chai tea (bit on the small side) and red velvet cheese cake on our visit which was delicous. Has a small play park for the kids to enjoy. Prices are decent regardless of what you are doing.

Great experience and the Alpacas are so chilled and calming. R20 in to pet the animals and if you want you can buy feed for the Alpacas which is a further R20, well worth the experience, highly recommend. Coffee is pretty good too and staff are friendly.

This is an amazing place to visit if you are an animal lover. You can really learn so much about Alpacas. The coffee shop is also in a fantastic place since you get a great view of Table Mountain on a sunny clear day. Highly recommend for younger kids.

What's not to love about an Alpaca farm. They have a great little shop inside that offers all things Alpaca. They also have a coffee shop that offered a few sandwiches. Barn tours were R100 and included entrance to the petting park, which I believe was R20. Packs of feed were R20 and all the Alpacas were extremely friendly. I can't wait to go back!

  • 4/5 Joao de G. 2 years ago on Google
Very informative and fun tour of the farm housing the Alpacas and their living environment. You learn a lot about Alpacas from the friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. The shop has many Alpaca wool items and beautiful gifts as well. It's well worth the visit. Rustic experience adds a better feel to the visit of this sort. Well done to the tour guide and keep up. We will certainly recommend it. I did a few video clips and will post these as well.

What a gem of a place! Enjoyed a light lunch before our tour (choose from options of pies, quiches, muffins and cakes). The tour around the Alpaca enclosures was interesting and informative and Ruan answered all our questions and shared his knowledge of all the Alpacas in his care. We then took a walk around the Petting Zoo and fed the Alpacas, Llamas, goats and sheep. The Alpacas are so delightful! The views are stunning, the people are friendly and their is a lovely souvenir shop. Definitely worth a visit!

The children loved the alpaca loom visit. It is interesting for adults too. The views from the deck of the coffee shop are spectacular. We took the tour and learnt a lot about Llama and farming alpaca. There are beautiful woven alpaca items in the store. Not cheap but wonderful to have. I bought Christmas.presents of a made in SA alpaca toy - with fluff fur and long eyeladhes, a delicate scarf and a pair of snug mittens for winter. The children enjoyed feeding the alpaca and goats.

This place is SO Cute! I would definitely recommend trying it out if you haven't had the chance to before. You get to be one on one with ghe alpacas and pet them as well! There's other animals on the farm such as llamas, sheep, goat and camels. I would recommend doing the barn tour for a more in depth insight of the farm. They have a great coffee shop as well.

Great place. We came to feed the animals. No need to book. You can take a tour of the farm or just feed the animals. Inside there is a cafe and a souvenir shop where yarn is knitted. In the cafe you can drink drinks with a beautiful view and try sweets. The animals are all friendly, very cute and funny. We were satisfied. We will definitely come again 😍

What a beautiful experience, Our 45min tour was informative, easy to understand and you could see a farm where animals are loved and well cared for. Seeing moms and baby Alpacas was too sweet. Staff are courteous and always assisting where needed, there is a big play gym for the kids, mom and dad can watch from the deck. There is food and beverages. I purchased lovely bracelets. You will find a lady Weaving a beautiful cloth and you can purchase socks, baby jackets, ladies scarfs, but to mention a few items. Yes they are covid - savvy. A definite visit.

It is located close to Paarl, very dry and dusty area, but once you see these animals, it is totally worth it. From Horses (and a ponies), to Camels, to Goats, to Peacocks and of course the Alpacas. It is a great place to bring kids or just meet and hangout with these amazing animals. The coffee shop also offers a variety of cakes, treats and cold drinks for those hot days. They also sell Alpacas wool and clothings items. The gift shop also has fun and cool trinkets and collectables.

  • 5/5 Roeleen P. 3 years ago on Google
Absolutely loved it!! You could feed the animals for R 20 and the tour is R 100 for 45 minutes. The tour is very interesting and informative. You could see the tour guide is passionate about his job and he knows his facts. It is only a 45 minute drive from Cape Town and an experience you don't want to miss.

Very friendly reception, with all COVID-19 protocols in place and enforced. Enjoyed the Americano coffees we ordered, including some banter with the barista staff. Although we didn't enjoy any of the other fare on the menu, the cakes and tarts on display looked delicious! Feeding the inquisitive alpacas was fun - for proper attention, be sure to offer them a proper handful of the feed (which you can purchase at reception when paying for the petting site access (R20pp access, R20 per bag of feed, Sep 2020)). The Angora goats, as well as some sheep I couldn't recognise, also happily submitted to hear scratches in exchange for a handful of feed. There were also some camels and donkeys we didn't get to visit. There is a little playground in the petting area which the youngsters visiting at the same time as us seemed to enjoy a lot. As some alpacas are free-roaming, be sure to check and clean your shoes before climbing back into your car. I'd recommend this as a family visit, good to pass about 1-2 hours including a snack.

Awesome place, with not a lot of publicity. It is free and securiy is good (and visible). It next to the Waste Water Treatment plant which has the side effect of a few odd odours, but provides a great opertunity for learning the kids where all the water goes when flushing the toilet.

Cuties lamas ever. The children were able to feed the animals. There were lamas, sheep, goats, donkeys, horses, camels, ducks, chicken and the kids said they saw bunnies but personally I didn’t see bunny. There is a nice big playground area where kids can play. Also, a lovely shaded area in the middle of the fenced animals where there is a picnic area with nice wooden chairs and tables. The staff is so friendly and polite and it’s very patient with children.

Great place for bird watching. Personally got a few new lifers.

  • 3/5 Terence A. 6 years ago on Google
Reports on poor security were confirmed during my visit. Only the ponds enclosed in the security fence can be visited without a security guard in the car (ponds 2 and 3), but have limited interest, notably Nesting grey headed gulls with chicks. Doing a quick tour of outside ponds the situation seems to have deteriorated. Bird hides are gone, wood collectors are walking on the roads used for bird watching and an informal settlement grows very close. The security guard at the gate re-iterated same information as other reviews. Assaults, muggings and stabbings have been occurring since 2 years and security company has implemented this protocol, though I'm not sure security guards are too keen either. Hopefully the situation improves as the site looks interesting.

The experience was incredible. The Lhamas were extremely entertaining and I haven't laughed so much in a long while. The prices at the gift shop however are extremely pricy. It saddens me to know that I will not purchase any of their gifts or beverages as the pricing are way too much. However, the experience I had with the Lhamas and Alpacas were something I would never forget.
